Of course, this is one of the places where I want to return every time I come to Abkhazia. I'm an atheist, but this place is addictive. We often get to a wedding, every time something memorable happens.
An interesting, amazing and beautiful place. You look and think: could a man have done all this? In the mountains. Previously, there were 1,000 monks in the New Athos Monastery, but now there are 11.
A walk to the temple from the Psyrtskha waterfall uphill, a very steep climb, but it's worth it, we didn't go inside, the territory is more or less gentrified, a lot of tourists and cars / buses near the temple, retail outlets

A beautiful place, an interesting place.
It is better to come without a group, take a quiet walk and relax in the shade of century-old cypresses.
I recommend you to visit, oddly enough, the leader's cottage is located nearby - they fought with God and lived nearby.
The Orthodox monastery is very impressive against the background of the sea and palm trees). It is important to know that on Mondays you will not get to the temple, in this
April 2024.
Very beautiful. Majestic. Magnificent views. There were some when the season had not started yet, so you can walk around and watch without jostling.
I advise you to visit
It's a very beautiful place. The monastery, the views of the Anakopian fortress, the sea are fascinating. There are a lot of people, although they were in October.
Beautiful view from the mountain, the monastery can be viewed only a small part of it.
Girls are given shawls and skirts. If the shorts are shorter than the knees and "leaky", they are also given "skirts" without fail.
Admission is free, candles in the church shop from 20 rubles.
It is worth going there, climbing the sinners' path and visiting the beautiful stately cathedral. His greatness and beauty will remain in the soul for a long time
Disappointed. The monastery is in a dilapidated state. The central temple has been restored only from the outside. Some of the living quarters around are completely abandoned. A very iconic place and beautiful views. I gave 4 points for that alone. I really want to believe that everything will be restored someday
It is very beautiful, dignified, blissful. A quiet chant adds solemnity. The painting on the walls is amazing! Be sure to visit this place if you are in Abkhazia
It's just great! Very tasty dried persimmons are sold near the monastery. It offers a very beautiful view of the sea! We will definitely come here again!
I put three stars, because only the Temple itself is accessible from the entire territory of the monastery, the rest of the territory is fenced
When approaching the monastery from the highway, there is no navigation, and it is not a fact that you will immediately understand how to approach it, and the road leaves much to be desired..
There are many cafes, tents, eateries in the city, and the monastery itself is in a state of decline..
when we went in, only 5 candles were burning on the candlesticks.. and this was in the main Orthodox monastery of Abkhazia
in the Temple itself there were no priests, there was a column, a recording of the sermon came
from it. in general, you need to stop by, put candles and support this monastery of Orthodoxy, created by Russian monks

We were in early September. The place is blessed. But there are a lot of tourists. It is better to go upstairs in the late afternoon, because it is very stuffy upstairs in the heat. Services for people, if I'm not mistaken, 2 times a week. There are shopping malls next to the walls along the road. By the way, seasonings are cheaper by 100 rubles. than in the shops by the Ferris wheel. You can buy souvenirs and adjika and teas...
Five stars exclusively for the location and painting of the temple-it is a masterpiece. But the state in which the shrine is located is simply terrible. In general, now this place is a center of commerce, it's been ruined…
I will say this, an insanely beautiful place, I wish everyone to visit it, I think that everyone should see this beauty, it is pleasant even the fact that they left and appreciate antiquity in the Interior of the monastery and do not try to cover everything up with new!
I am delighted with the place
It's worth stopping by, even just for the sake of tourism. The camera does not convey all the beauties. It is strange that the ROC will not help in the restoration of this temple, it seems that faith should have no boundaries.
A very, very beautiful place, a courtyard and the temple itself inside, a painting. There is an observation deck and a free toilet on site. The atmosphere is soothing 💚
It is beautiful from afar, the temple and the territory are not large, it takes longer to drive up the road than the visit itself to the temple crowded with tourists.
it's a great place, but the rabid local carriers who overtake in the ascent at the turn, and then "feed the dust" are very disappointing. however, so do most local drivers. what can you do, such an upbringing...
It was not the first time we visited a very beautiful ancient temple, now under reconstruction, the frescoes smell of antiquity and peace. As in all temples, there are headscarves and skirts at the entrance, women are not allowed to wear trousers. I recommend.
An impressive monastery, ancient, beautiful, calm. The acoustics are very good inside -the chants are very soulful under the arches. Unfortunately, the temple itself is not being restored, desolation is felt. You can walk around the temple-an old hydroelectric station, a lake, an abandoned railway station-everything reminds you of its greatness of the past days! There are hotels nearby-very modern and comfortable! The sea is just around the corner)))
A wonderful, beautiful place , with strong energy, I advise everyone to visit who is going to Abkhazia. On the way to the monastery, they sell freshly squeezed delicious juice.
The New Athos Simon-Kananite Monastery is my place of strength! Incredible energy. It is very beautiful inside , there are benches, you can sit down and feel the atmosphere. We managed to get to the service, which was held on Sunday in three languages: Abkhaz, Russian and Greek, and it's Divine! To the depths of my soul. I definitely recommend you to visit.
A place of strength, inspiration, and peace. It's worth a visit. The monastery itself has not been repaired, restoration is required, but the atmosphere around is soothing.
Beautiful frescoes.icons.The interior painting of the temple is striking in its beauty.Southern style. The only thing that upsets is that nothing is being restored, everything is gradually crumbling
A very beautiful Monastery, candles are sold, there is a fair near the monastery where you can buy a magnet, honey... the view is gorgeous on the sea, and the monastery itself looks gorgeous from all angles. Be sure to visit the Monastery, all the icons are painted on the walls, part of the monastery has already been restored. Shawls and "skirts" can be taken at the entrance.
A holy place. So far, only one temple has been opened, the rest are under restoration. I hope it will be opened to visitors soon. Visitors are given aprons and shawls at the entrance.
The place is beautiful, but as for the monastery itself, I can say that it is in a rather neglected state. The courtyard is fenced off, not everywhere you can go for a beautiful shot
A good monastery, a lot of tourists, spacious both on the streets and in the temple itself. Attracted the most attention, a lot of seals, guards. They sleep during the day, they watch the territory at night. And what a panoramic view from the monastery to the sea... In general, I advise all vacationers and travelers 👍🤗
A very beautiful place and the monastery itself! A large and beautiful building. Very visual and informative frescoes based on biblical motifs. Amazing acoustics! A must-visit place in Abkhazia!
It's a very beautiful place. Unfortunately, we did not get to the monastery - Monday is a sanitary day. Anyone who plans to come here for one day, pay attention to this.
Unfortunately, there is nothing to tell-Monday is a sanitary day there, the monastery is closed to visitors. I can only advise you to come another day. Externally, there is still a lot of work.
We arrived in March , there were practically no people . We went into the temple, it's very atmospheric inside. There is a beautiful landscaped area nearby . The monastery itself is active .
A beautiful picturesque place. Orthodox people and just beautiful places. This beauty cannot be described. It's better to go and see it once. You will like it very much.
