The simplest ones are somewhere in the region of 90 rubles. At the entrance, if you are wearing shorts, they give you special aprons, the girls are given handkerchiefs. All conditions have been created to make the parishioners feel comfortable. For example, I was not allowed to go to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. They said you can't wear knee-length shorts. They offered to rent trousers somewhere in the next building…

We got there without excursions, but rented a car. From the center of Gagra, the trip took ~ 1 hour, then on foot uphill for about 10 minutes.

Hello, the monastery has been awarded a visit of 1000% to be honest, it is crowded, there is a lot of tourist transport, this of course cannot but strain. When you go into the monostyrb and look at all its beauty, you hear the choir singing behind the altar, you get carried away somewhere and you just want to stay and the problems go away by themselves. The same thing is here, the central gate seems to be with scaffolding, repairs are underway. Unfortunately, we did not get to the monastery itself.. We arrived on the day when it was a day off.. Recently I went to Abkhazia with friends. Gagra, Gudauta, New Athos, Pitsunda, Sukhum.
The last time I was in the New Athos Monastery was in Soviet times. The restoration of the complex has begun from the main temple: the basement has been drained, the facade has been painted, the domes are covered with gold. Inside the temple, the sight is, of course, sad. The frescoes on the walls are peeling off. Despite this, angelic singing is quietly heard inside the temple, as if from heaven. The feeling of grace did not leave all the time that we were inside. In the middle of the temple there are two rows of comfortable wooden benches. People aged or for a number of reasons unable to stand for a long time can sit down. The service in the monastery twice a week: on Saturday evening, and on Sunday at 9.00.
Who has never been to this monastery, I strongly advise you to visit there. A salted place! To pray, to put candles. You can buy candles and icons at the monastery shop. I haven't seen such candles for a long time, they smell of honey and wax, and they look very different from those in our temples in Sochi.
You will not regret visiting this wonderful place.

But I do not recommend buying something from merchants around him. I bought lavrushka, churchkhella and tkemali sauce there. I threw out the lavrushka because most of it was eaten by aphids, I threw out the churchkhella, because it was put in a cellophane bag by the evening in a hot bus, it was just covered with mold and seemed to ferment because it smelled strongly of wine. One tkemali sauce turned out to be good. As a result, the impression of the trip to the monastery was spoiled.
