A very beautiful view opens from the monastery, a view of the sea, the city, beautiful trees and flowers around, but a very bad road, in order to climb by car, you need to try not to leave the car right there in the ravine, poor people who try to climb there every day
An amazing place, an extraordinary nature, a wonderful view, a lot of people who will always help in choosing a trail, as well as in choosing souvenirs.
It's something with something! History and vibe in one place! For the soul and spirit, as well as for the content))) the atmosphere is at 5, there is a small minus of this toilet on the street(
The internal state of the monastery is very sad, unfortunately it is not being put in order, it is not being restored. At the entrance, the men who handle the human flows do not seem to realize where they are. They are quite rude and brusque.
The New Athos Monastery in Abkhazia is a blessed and spiritual place!
It's so peaceful when you're here!
And the nature and landscapes are just incredible!
The decoration and paintings of the main temple of the monastery in honor of the healer Panteleimon with 5 chapels will remain in my heart for a long time!
And also inside the Panteleimon temple and on the territory of the monastery - you can safely take pictures.
But of course, the most important thing is to pray for your family and friends!
My wife and I were here on July 9, 2022.
The place is wonderful. What Orthodox Christians from the ROC need to know: this is not the ROC. Before the Abkhazian-Georgian war, the church belonged to the Georgian Orthodox, after that it separated and is now independent.
The place of power of New Athos and the business card of Abkhazia! I definitely recommend you to visit! Beauty and majesty! Well done for preserving this architectural monument!
Baptism is not. Candles are sold by a candle shop. The city has a lot. The temple is not being restored inside, it is beautifully restored outside. The area near the temple is super. There are a lot of souvenirs near the temple. You can get to the monastery on your own and there are a lot of excursions.
It is not a difficult climb, there are souvenir shops along the way, the view opens to the sea and the city, they offer their things if they are not dressed correctly to visit the monastery
It's worth a visit. This is a history of Christianity, preferably with a guide. It is a pity that the condition is not the best and it is not possible to go everywhere.
It is impossible to convey the atmosphere of this place, very large-scale, beautiful. The place is saturated with some kind of tranquility, peace. I highly recommend visiting this place. Taking into account that there is something to see and where to go in New Athos))
The excellent location of the temple (the view is gorgeous on the sea), inside it is even more beautiful, you can write notes about health and repose, buy icons, candles and go to the temple (shawls and skirts are given at the entrance). The road to the temple, if you can kill yourself on foot, it's also hard to climb by car.
We were on an excursion, a very beautiful view opens from the monastery to the sea, the fountain, although not functioning, climbed the mountain on foot, physical activity is significant for office staff. It is possible to take a bus from the monastery for 100 rubles.
Somehow I was not impressed. Maybe because everything except the temple and the memorial to the border guards is closed. There is little historical information.
A long market with local specialties from churchkhela and honey to various cheeses. Souvenirs, of course, also.
The monastery was impressive. Very neat. Ancient icons...However, there are a lot of tourists. At the entrance, aprons are given to both women and men whose knees are not covered. You can buy and put candles, for which prices start from 20 rubles. There is a church shop.
A nice, warm place. Candles and church supplies are not sold on the territory of the temple itself. Personally, it seems to me that this is the main indicator of a real temple. The most beautiful views. A lot of the territory is fenced. You can write a lot about a place, but it's better to visit and leave your personal impression about the place. It is individual.
A gorgeous monastery, a beautiful but dilapidated painting. Stalin's cottage is 100m away. I recommend everyone to visit a very beautiful and strong place!
a good monastery, interesting icons and paintings, you can sit on a bench and talk to God, I definitely recommend visiting, New Athos conquered me, very beautiful nature!!
They are, of course, schismatics and heretics. The temple is impressive from the inside. The frescoes are good. Dark, sooty, old. It takes a long time to walk and look at it. There is almost no territory. To climb the hill on foot. The ascent is gentle , but it's better when it's not hot. It is better to go down to the left, right to the waterfall. It's not a very good path, but you get to another object, no less interesting.
The most beautiful place, the monastery itself fascinates with its grandeur, it seems that it is easy to breathe there, it is possible from the wonderful grove that surrounds it from all sides. It's a pity-the country does not have enough finances to completely restore it.It would be a powerful abode
The monastery is very beautiful, there is an amazing painting inside. The drawings of the Saints, as if alive, are a wonderful work of artists, it seems to me that the Lord himself helped them create such beauty, the atmosphere in the temple is blissful, I have not seen anything better yet. be sure to visit this temple if you are in Abkhazia))
The most beautiful views of the mountains and the sea in Abkhazia!
...we thought about it until we reached the Ritsa National Park and the Ritsa Lake itself :)
In general, it is interesting and beautiful. But unfortunately, everything is poor and dilapidated (the park in the village itself, the buildings).
Okay, not new cafe buildings, but everything is littered next to you five meters away. Well, clean it up... tourists will stay longer... They'll spend the money...
A paid toilet in the park is of course something with something))) like a Soviet-era railway station.
And they send everyone there from the cafe. 300 meters away from it.
Delicious inexpensive local wine, and cheap hazelnuts. For 100 rubles, a decent bag like this.
In the cafe, the waitress is unfriendly, like from the good old Soviet catering. Like, "stop asking questions about the menu! There are many of you, but I'm the only one here... if you choose, you will call." Then she seemed to relent.
But there was no desire to pay from the top of the bill either.
Although it was quite tasty in the end ...
However, hominy (tried for the first time) was not impressed at all - tasteless even with sauce. Well, they took one for everyone...
But the curd cheesecakes were good, and the sour cream for them was very local!
A holy place, a place of power! I've been dreaming of visiting here for a long time. As part of a day trip to Abkhazia, I was lucky enough to get here! The question of whether the monastery and frescoes will be restored must be preserved for posterity.
A gorgeous ancient cathedral. Beautiful views. Convenient to arrive, large Parking. The problem is that, as in every hole, parking is paid. But it is better to pay 200rubles and understand that the car will be safe.
Although the monastery was founded in 1875, it already looks like a relic. It is beautiful, but because of the not very large infusion of funds, it is a little dilapidated, but the feeling of spiritual purity is felt much stronger than in the same Moscow.
An incredible atmosphere, a very interesting story of the monastery's origin.
The murals inside are breathtaking. You find peace and tranquility of the soul in this sacred place.
Beautiful view, wonderful temple, we really liked it! Horses walked around the territory, you can feed them, an olive grove. It's worth stopping by! The only place where no one will demand money from you :)
A very beautiful place, holy, salted. In 2025, it will be 150 years old.The view of the sea and the mountains is beautiful, there are olive trees at the foot of the monastery.I advise you to visit!
I'm not a fan of such places. It was just one of the points of the tour route. The monastery itself is not impressive: we went in and out. Forced to dress up in some shawls, some skirts. It's not all mine. Let those who are believers dress up in all this. Why should we. I put stars exclusively for the views: the monks knew where to build monasteries! Gorgeous views! On the sea, on the mountains, flowers and olive trees bloom everywhere. In general, colorful. It is worth visiting, but not in the high holiday season, there are too many people in August. Parking is also a problem, I was glad that we went on an excursion, and not on our own.
The area around the monastery is wonderful. It's great that I'm almost untouched by buildings and other landscaping. I just want to sit on the grass and admire the view
A wonderful place, I recommend it to everyone, I will come again, I recommend the caves to everyone the same way. I'll add photos.
From the entrance to the caves there is a beautiful view of the monastery
A beautiful and soulful place. A lot of people, despite the fact that they were there with friends in October. The monastery is being restored little by little. You can climb up to it along the path of sinners. The territory itself, near the monastery, is very beautiful, gorgeous views open to the sea and mountains. One of Stalin's dachas is located nearby.
The famous monastery, built before the revolution, was consecrated and opened. It was closed around 1924 under Soviet rule. It has now been handed over to the church. Recovery is going on, but slowly. It's a very beautiful place. A beautiful temple, in the morning the bells ring throughout the neighborhood. Stalin's dacha is nearby, it is also abandoned.
A magical place! I didn't want to leave! There is parking on site. Very convenient. Stunning panoramas! A bench with candles under the arch at the entrance to the territory.
A great place to visit, a very ancient monastery and a lot of attractions nearby that you can visit on foot, but you need to lay at least 3-4 hours on this tour
I just don't have the words. As soon as I entered the temple, tears ran from my eyes. It's very beautiful, the acoustics are amazing. I really liked it.
It is worth going there, climbing the sinners' path and visiting the beautiful stately cathedral. His greatness and beauty will remain in the soul for a long time
