It is beautiful and monumental from the outside, but inside many buildings are abandoned and require restoration and repair. In the market, at the monastery, you can run into low-quality products (churchkhela), chacha, in,,factory,, container, also turned out to be a palenka.
The place in New Athos is very strong energetically and I recommend you to visit. An interesting hydroelectric power plant (man-made), which was introduced by the monks.
One of the few places in Abkhazia where there are practically no ruins, gaping eye sockets of broken windows, abandoned buildings and other attributes of the times of 30 years ago. Calm, very beautiful, interesting. On a very small territory, within walking distance from each other, you can visit a monastery, caves, Stalin's cottage, a hydroelectric power station with a beautiful dam, monastic cells in the mountains, the road to which lies along the picturesque riverbed.
Of course, the monastery is under reconstruction and it is impossible to see the whole of it. But the temple of Panteleimon the Healer is impressive, and the views of New Athos and the sea are pleasing to the eye.
A very beautiful monastery that can be seen from afar. To get inside, you will cover your legs and head (for women). Men also need to cover their knees. There is a very beautiful painting inside, it is cool. The temple is functioning.
Upon entering the territory of the monastery, an atmosphere of calmness immediately begins to reign, complete peace, you walk slowly and you feel so good and calm. In fact, I really liked it, you can put candles, buy icons, etc. Definitely worth a visit.
It was in the month of March, there were crowds of tourists. Very beautiful views, but they only let you into one temple, the rest is blocked off. There is a market with reasonable prices at the descent

Beautiful territory, rich history, reconstruction is underway in some places. I recommend driving in a car, climbing off the road for too long and downhill.
It's a great place. Admission is free. At the entrance, they give a skirt and shawls. Very beautiful! You can get there from the border of Adler/Ahzasia by minibus (250-300 rubles). The reverse is the same. The journey takes about 1.5-2 hours in one direction. From the bus stop, walk to the monastery for 30 minutes. There is a park nearby where you can walk. It is better to clarify the schedule in advance. Previously, Monday was a day off.
The road to the monastery has been terrible for many years, the market on the territory of the monastery is not needed. The monastery buildings themselves require serious restoration. There are problems with the toilet, especially for women . There is no drinking spring at the monastery. The place is beautiful.
Everything is fine, but very expensive))), as if it were a temple, not a market. However, there is a market there too.
It would be better to move it away.
Otherwise, a visit to the temple somehow fits in with trade.
Mixed feelings from visiting this place. The temple is beautiful, large, with fascinating panoramic platforms. BUT the temple is not in the best shape, shabby walls and frescoes.Very sorry.
It takes your breath away when visiting new Athos. The beauty and grandeur are amazing.

I was amazed by what I saw! In a good way! Everything is very beautiful and does not look like a "new model", What kind of spiritual power is there! But there are a lot of visitors this year
It's very beautiful but... Nothing has changed in the 20 years since the last visit to this beautiful monument. The frescoes are crumbling, the condition of the monastery buildings is depressing. there are signs of repair in some places, but this does not solve the problem. We followed the signs to look for a steam locomotive and did not find it, but we saw such devastation and poverty. it's a pity
A very beautiful place. Be sure to visit New Athos. The picture is spoiled only by the access road to the monastery and, sometimes, the disrespectful attitude of visitors to this holy place. But the satisfaction from the place itself is magnificent!!!!
Unfortunately, I was not impressed.
I was surprised that in all of Abkhazia they charge for entrance and parking wherever it is not a day, but everything is free in the monastery, respectively, there is clearly not enough money for restoration and maintenance. It would be logical to make the entrance paid, as, for example, in the main cathedrals of St. Petersburg.
The monastery itself looks very beautiful from afar against the background of the mountains, the sea views are very beautiful, but it lacks grooming and financing.
It is not a well-groomed place, the walls are shabby, there are merchants everywhere along the path to the temple, inside is in disrepair, no restoration. Well, the state could also allocate funds for the reconstruction of the main attraction of Abkhazia. The temple looks beautiful only from a distance. Utter disappointment. We could organize some kind of guided lectures and guide tourists through the territory and buildings! Well, at least something! But no. Sadly.
I think no one doubts that this place is a center of culture, architecture and faith. But this place and this beauty created by the hands of our forefathers is simply amazing.
One of the main tourist attractions of Abkhazia. The territory is clean, the facades of the buildings are in satisfactory condition, which cannot be said about the temple inside: the majestic temple has long been in need of repair and restoration. But knowing how the restoration of facilities in this country has been going on in recent years, it will certainly not be soon.As for the monastery, it feels like a sacred place and the services and the choir deserve respect. The guards work clearly, persistently, but politely enough. If you're wearing shorts, you'll have to wear an apron. There is only one type of candle, but this is not so important.
It's an amazing place. It becomes so easy and warm inside the walls of the monastery. There are a lot of people, but everyone should understand that it is natural in the season. You can go early in the morning by private car, it will not be so crowded.
It was the final stage of a large sightseeing and sightseeing tour of Abkhazia and the crown of this trip was this beautiful temple, its majesty and beauty,
Magnificent views open to the eye. The monastery itself is very colorful, with a special atmosphere inside. I recommend everyone to slow down and enjoy the peace and quiet in this place.
It's a very salty place. At the entrance to the temple, the presence of higher forces is immediately felt.
It is a pity that numerous frescoes and paintings began to crumble over time. Urgent restoration is required. People, there are donation urns at the entrance to the temple. The ministers have no right to ask you for a donation. Many of these urns simply do not notice. Don't be stingy. Submit any non-burdensome amount for recovery. Together we can save this miracle for our children. God loves everyone!
I advise everyone to visit, the male half needs to cover their knees, the female half needs to cover their heads. At the entrance, the dress code is checked, handkerchiefs and men's skirts are issued otherwise they will not be allowed in. A lot of restaurants were closed, but the main part is open. A very soulful place. It's easy to get there by car. There is also a very large overview of the sea from the height and very beautiful landscapes of the vokru. It feels like I've entered another world. A monastery located at the foot of Mount Athos in Abkhazia. It was founded in 1875 by monks of the Russian monastery of St. Panteleimon, on Mount Athos, with the participation of the Russian Emperor Alexander III. Closed in 1924, returned to believers in 1994. On February 11, 2011, the Government of Abkhazia handed over the monastery to the Abkhaz Orthodox Church. Since May 15, 2011, the monastery has actually been a department of the non-canonical "Holy Metropolis of Abkhazia". Also within walking distance is Stalin's dacha, it is fashionable to walk about 10-15 minutes to walk.
As always, the nature of Abkhazia is beautiful. Unfortunately, there is some kind of desolation in the monastery. Waterfall, train station, trail - in the process of restoration, cleaning.
Candles are definitely sold there, there are two shops at the entrance below, you can buy candles, icons, calendars for next year, crosses, literature. There are a lot of people inside the monastery, they were on a weekday, in the morning. It was very hot, so we didn't walk much around the territory, there was enough climbing!) I recommend it to everyone!
A very pleasant holy place in Abkhazia with the Temple of Panteleimon the Healer. One of the local features of Orthodox churches is the presence of benches where you can sit during the service. and there are also a lot of vacationers "a la pilgrims" from all over Russia. ..
One of the main attractions of Abkhazia, an ancient monastery, skillfully executed, there is a lot of space inside, there are also many shops where you can sit down.
We visited it 10 years ago and were horrified at how everything here has fallen into disrepair even more. We were upset that cars were entering the territory, this is noise, noise, from cars that cannot pass, this is some kind of nightmare.
The facades and frescoes have fallen into a terrible state. Moreover, there are a lot of people and tourists there and it turns out that there is also a lot of money, but nothing seems to be spent on the church itself. And this is your legacy, how can this be treated, especially by the Church?
A good monastery. Inside the image, everything is real without the restaurant. Everything is excellent. Images cannot be uploaded because the program does not allow you to upload images of good quality.
