In the old days, it was the center of the spiritual life of the entire Caucasus.
Back in the early 80s, my girlfriend talked with admiration about visiting the temple, admiring its greatness and beauty.
The temple is located near Mount Athos and is a male Orthodox monastery.
✔️With the support of Emperor Alexander III himself, it began to be built in 1875.
The entire construction period was very difficult. This was due to the geographical location and the complete absence of access roads. The Russian-Turkish war also prevented the construction, as a result of which the building was destroyed and looted. The monastery was built in 1900.
Thousands of pilgrims from all over the world come to the monastery every year.
The entire structure is represented by 6 temples, the main one being the 40-meter Panteleimon Cathedral.
