We were in this restaurant late last week, a tall, dark-haired young man, the receptionist looked us arrogantly from head to toe (we were in ordinary clothes, on the way we stopped to eat at this "vaunted" and supposedly cool restaurant) and immediately on the move "We have so much deposit... Are you ready?"
Um... what do you mean?? Is it so customary to greet guests in an expensive and "lauded" restaurant??
We were shocked!!!
Of course, we left there!
The girl sang - live music - no voice, no vivacity, does not light up at all, but is dull and boring, gray and gloomy.

I read a lot of reviews before visiting!- I postponed the idea of visiting a couple of times ! But on the way back home, my wife and I decided to stop by! The first thing that caught my eye was that the clock does not work on the main wall (although it is mechanical, it must be wound up every day ), even the clock in the hall hanging at the waiters' table does not work)- Paradoxically , time is really frozen there !
At the entrance, a girl met with a smile, placed it, the waiter was also smiling and was ready to take the order in 3 minutes after we studied the menu ... but we no longer studied the menu , but the stories around the edges of the menu …
By the way, the deposit is 1500rubles per person (this is not a problem, since you will leave much more there!) The service is included in the 10% receipt. Payment is only in cash or by transfer. The ATM is on the ground floor at the entrance! The hall was half full when we arrived, but it quickly filled up within a couple of hours! I advise non-smokers not to sit at tables on the balcony, as there is a smoking area there.
They took our order , we went to the gazebo , took pictures , had a smoke , were away for no more than 10 minutes. Back at the table, our fragrant and pleasantly decorated food was already there)
Cheese soup was for 5 , royal ear with a glass of vodka and a sandwich of red caviar ( caviar would be twice as much), Greek salad-there is nothing to complain about , whole olives , lemon is not squeezed , fresh fetax cheese! The cappuccino is great! Tuna steak is also ready to praise, although I asked that it be fried to Medium well.
The interior is certainly impressive, especially when you are familiar with the history. We left at 18:00 at 20:30. There was no live music until 19:30, then a trumpeter or saxophonist started playing (I don't really understand this). The toilet commands respect! It is rare to find such a thing on the territory of Abkhazia , though on the ground floor .
In general, a great place for Abkhazia! Of course, I don't compare it with Moscow , St. Petersburg , etc .
In general, a pleasant place, I advise you to visit ! We also took a walk around the restaurant, there were no questions for us.
The views are gorgeous from the balcony! The photos turned out to be just a bomb!

Required to visit! In 2024, industrial air conditioners were installed, now it's not hot in the restaurant. The service is fast - friendly waiters. The kitchen is great. From appetizers to dessert! A beautiful and ancient restaurant brought from Scandinavia in 1902 by the Prince of Oldenburg. But still we decided to have a cup of tea with dessert and went up the stairs into the hall in which there were 2 ladies at the window drinking wine for the whole huge hall. The waitress came up to us and said that they had a deposit of 1,500 per person and it would not be refunded if we did not choose it, but there were three of us and the waiting time for dishes was from 10 minutes. Disappointed in this, we went to look for another place to have tea.

When choosing dishes, you need to keep in mind that you are obliged to spend at least 1,500 rubles in this institution, and even choke, but order. And it's also good to count in your mind. I met this in the nightmarish cafes of the mid-90s, and walked away from such absurd obligations. But then, for some reason, she agreed. The food was not impressive, it was not tasty, the amount of the check was about 7 thousand, of course there was a lot left, keep in mind that 10 percent of the service is already included in the bill. Fruit drinks and wines only in liters and bottles. You can't take what the waiters recommend, it's expensive and obviously tasteless! And if you want to take with you what you couldn't handle in connection with this disgusting requirement, keep in mind that they will put containers with a package right on the table, they say you will pack it yourself, and the appliances will be taken away to humiliate you. I personally saw how people refuse to come in from the doorstep, seeing the faces of the waiters and the requirement to pay the duty and not walk around the restaurant! It's absurd. I think all the guides are paid to advertise this place. You can only go to the toilet through the restaurant maze, you can't think of anything funnier. In general, the horror (The service did not like it, when we moved to another table away from the air conditioner, we were not served a menu. Okay, we went by ourselves. They position themselves as a restaurant, but they didn't give any napkins. Dirty dishes were not taken away immediately, drinks were not poured, little attention was paid, they scurried behind my back, the floor was wooden, it swayed, my chair also swayed, somehow not very pleasant. The calculation was waited for a very long time. In short, I do not recommend it to those who are familiar with good service and really delicious restaurant food.
If you remove the obligation of guests to spend a certain amount, replace the staff (including the kitchen), remove the maze and the stupid requirement not to walk around the restaurant, there is a chance to become a good place.

Yes, it's worth visiting this restaurant just for show, take a photo inside.

Обожаю этот ресторан! Когда приезжаем в Абхазию, обязательно приходим сюда. Очень вкусная кухня, обходительные официанты, само здание, атмосфера, живая музыка! Бесконечно можно перечислять плюсы! Но, есть и минусы. Дорого! Готовьтесь оставить приличную сумму в Гагрипше. Депозит при заказе стола 1500 р на взрослого, 50% на ребёнка. С учётом цен на блюда вы закажете на гораздо бОльшую сумму нежели депозит)) И да, там всегда аншлаг, поэтому в сезон столики нужно бронировать заранее. Сайта у ресторана нет, надо прийти и забронировать. Хотя бы один раз, но побывать там однозначно стОит!

There are some basic Abkhazian dishes on the menu, but there are no basic Abkhazian dishes (very strange, because we arrived in Abkhazia). They said that they did not serve wine by the glass, okay, OK, they asked for a bottle of the most common wine there - Psou, there is also on the menu, but in fact it is not there either, but there is homemade 3000 rubles per bottle! There is no grape Abkhazian vodka either, only rye... As a result, I had to order a cheese plate, a barbecue and veal medallions. There were 4 types of cheese on the cheese plate, 4 slices each and a bowl of honey, nothing was decorated. The medallions are bland. The kebab is sour, it feels like it was soaked in vinegar... The bill was waited for about 20 minutes. Except to see the restaurant itself, there is nothing to do there at all. Everything is put on stream, the quality is zero.

Очень вкусные блюда! Интересное место. Кто остановится в старой Гагре, обязательно советую побывать. Романтическая обстановка, игра на саксофоне, живой звук, - все это вдохновляет и подчеркивает твой отдых; переносишься как буд то в начало хх века, еще в царские времена с принцами и принцессами. Интересно рассматривать интерьер того времени, механизмы подьема люстр и вообще все!!!

Visited on April 23, 2024. There are few people at 17-00. We took royal khachapuri, hominy, cheese rolls and nut-eggplant rolls. Oriental coffee and strudel. I liked everything, above expectations. The strudel surprised me very pleasantly. The service is quite normal, without fuss (and there are few people). We did not take a deposit (we did not book in advance) but I said from the doorway that we wanted to eat normally. The music is unobtrusive, calmly neutral. In such a place, I would include classics in modern processing))
By the way, hominy in Abkhazia differs from Moldovan - white and finely ground.

Атмосфера ресторана располагает к погружению в исторические периоды его основания (1903 год) и последующих эпох (революции, советского времени). Очень вкусно, по российским меркам недорого (на 1500 р депозита можно хорошо поесть). Обслуживание на высшем уровне, живая музыка местных исполнителей меня до слез растрогала. Фото внутри и снаружи очень красивые получаются.

You should definitely go to this restaurant at least once. The interior is impressive, assembled without a single nail, the views inside and from the balcony are wonderful. According to the menu, the portions are huge, we didn't eat everything. Everything that was ordered is delicious and even specially checked for negative reviews, we liked everything. The service is excellent, but we were served by a waiter from Russia, only at the entrance they meet us strangely, immediately with a condition, about a deposit of 1500 per person, some are scared and they leave. But this is a restaurant and the prices here are restaurant prices, even tea and cake will already be 1500, why scare at the entrance with this, I didn't even understand.

Пошли туда, поскольку была там в детстве до войны и очень хотела вернуться. Ну в целом интерьер конечно хорош, обслуживание тоже неплохое, шикарная идея с оформлением меню. А вот соответсвие цены и качества кухни не в пользу поваров. Брали разные салаты и большое блюдо мяса. Салаты нормальные, но не вау, а шашлык это вообще грусть-печаль по вкусу, но подача конечно шикарная...с открытым огнём. А так...через дорогу делают в сто раз лучше и в три раза дешевле, хоть и без понтов. Но, гештальт закрыт))) больше туда не пойдём. Ужин на семью в 5 человек обошёлся нам в 13 тыс и мы не ликовали в заказе...

It's beautiful outside, everything is already worn inside, holes in the walls, different light from lamps, twisted wires and a router hang in the corner. Also, for a historical place, we could make air conditioners to match the style, they don't fit there at all. The paintings hang crookedly, very striking. The windows haven't been washed since the beginning of the season, apparently. There is no food, the mussels have not even been separated from the leg in the shell, the salad is tasteless. Homemade lemonade is a mixture of juice and mineral water, where a couple of pieces of fruit will be thrown to you.

В это ресторан нужно сходить обязательно, но один раз!
Начну с плюсов.
Очень крутые интерьеры и экстерьеры, здание не имеет аналогов, красивые виды, потрясающие часы.
Из минусов.
Как только мы туда зашли нам предложили оплатить депозит в 1,5 тр с человека. Объявлений перед рестораном о депозите не было. Якобы депозит, не понятно за что, а по факту обед для каждой персоны за 1,5 тр не зависимо сколько вы возьмете, кружку пива или полноценный обед... Конечно если вы возьмете больше чем депозит, то нужно доплатить. Мы решили взять тайм-аут и обсудить в семейном кругу нужен нам такой обед или нет. Вышли на улицу, и я поинтересовался у выходящей из ресторана пары по поводу депозита. Пара сильно напряглась и удивилась, им никакой депозит не предлагался.
Я зашёл в ресторан выяснить в чем дело. Мне сказали, что депозит начинают брать с 13 часов, но для нас сделают исключение... Я так и не понял, развод или нет, этот депозит... В итоге мы оставили практически ту сумму которую они запрашивали как депозит, но осадок остался.
Кухня не удивила, официанты не расторопны и не очень обходительны. Ресторану не хватает лоска и хорошего управляющего!

Начну с плюсов, конечно это внешний вид ресторана, красиво, величественно, здание с интересной историей. На этом пожалуй все, в ресторан большой ажиотаж, если хотите сесть на «козырное место» с видом, то придется забронировать стол. Мы не бронировали, пришли по факту и нас поставили перед фактом, что у них действует система депозита, взрослые -2000₽ дети 1000₽, ну ок, рассаживает хостес, т.е. сами выбрать себе свободный стол вы не сможете. Ну, это все мелочи, нам принесли меню, оно достаточно разнообразное, я выбрала царскую уху на первое и стейк из семги на второе. Принесли уху, я отметила, что в меню в ухе были креветки, по факту их там не оказалось, ну ладно, уха оказалась вкусная. Вынесли стейк и тут я понимаю, что в меню я к стейку идет спаржа, но мне ее не принесли. Позвали официанта, она сделала вид, что удивлена, но я уверена, что это норма у них в ресторане, рассчитано на невнимательных туристов, спаржа ведь не самый дешевый продукт, а в меню он идет как отдельный вид гарнира. Спаржу в итоге принесли, но она была просто несъедобная, ножом не резалась, есть я ее не стала. Сам стейк тоже не назвать очень вкусным, и это блюдо на минуточку там стоит 1600₽) еще заказывали якобы домашний лимонад, не знаю что для абхазов лимонад, но для меня это уж то но не компот разбавленный минералкой с добавлением мяты. Ценник тоже не малый за компот 600₽. Короче, мы не доели то что заказывали, мне лично было невкусно и плюсом еще получила расстройство желудка, болел живот всю ночь и мутило. До этого ужина и после мы ничего не ели, соотвественно можно сделать выводы. Я не рекомендую это место посещения, если бы не было депозита, можно бы было зайти, выпить кофе, а кушать там не стоит.

The smiling administrator immediately warns that the deposit per person is 1500 rubles and if you are satisfied with it, invites you to a table. The menu and wine list were served immediately. By menu...the menu raises a lot of questions that the waiters will answer, if you wait for them, of course. Although the answers, as it turned out later, are not entirely reliable. Of what we would like to order, there were no dishes and drinks. And if the dishes can be replaced with something, then it's a problem with drinks. In addition to liter compote and mineral water, there is nothing from soft drinks.
While waiting for the order, we were able to walk and enjoy the views. This is perhaps the most pleasant of the whole trip to this institution.
When we received our dishes, we were surprised by the large portion size...but the taste left much to be desired. The meat is dry and cooked on obviously bad and old oil. This rancid taste was on everything that was fried, and from the dish in the pan, even smelled of this disgusting oil. They could not eat it, and considering that there is nothing to drink with ... more.
When it came time to pay, it turned out that there was not a single employee in the hall...there was a desire to just get up and leave.

Having visited Abkhazia for the first time in July 2023 and visiting Gagripsh, to be honest, we were amazed by the atmosphere, beauty and food. Upon arrival home, they told their friends. And so we came again, May 2024, we tell my wife and my friend that we definitely need to visit Gagripsha, we come to Gagry and they tell us at the entrance that the deposit per person is 1500 rubles, they tried to explain that we want to eat, but not the fact that it will be 1500 rubles, but they told us, here is the door and you You're free. Question: we would have eaten for 3500 rubles, but we would have enjoyed it, and the establishment would have made a profit. But no. It's not even about money, but about attitude, if we came and just wanted to take a photo, that's one conversation, but we came to eat and were ready to leave the money. It's very sad. Now, unfortunately, we will never tell our friends that there is a wonderful place called Gagripsh.

The restaurant was terribly disappointing, this is a place where you can go only once, and you don't want to come back here anymore. The food is not delicious, the waiters are snobs, in principle, you can not try to serve them since the service is already included in the bill. A wonderful atmospheric place! We were there for the New Year holidays. The combination of garlands, live music and awareness of the origin and age of the restaurant create a fabulous atmosphere! Of course, you want to dress appropriately in such a place (obviously not short shorts or holey jeans). The cuisine is delicious and hearty, the desserts are very tasty! Everything is great!
