You should definitely go, preferably with a guide. We wandered around for half a day, there are many places to relax.
Of course, it's a little bit underdone, but it's everywhere.
Overall, a very good impression.
The price of the entrance ticket is too high.
I visited 2 times: in June 2015 and in August 2022. I really like this place. All plants are equipped with signs, you can have a great time walking along the alleys of the garden, admiring the wonderful flowers, plants and ponds. The territory is small, but well maintained. Entrance for adults is 300 rubles. You can take a guided tour or on your own. A great place for a photo shoot. Plus, you can learn a lot of amazing facts about the meth flora. There is a small cafe on the territory of the garden, but I did not go there.

We expected more. Nothing special, you can see almost the same thing outside the park... There was also a feeling that the garden was poorly cared for, some kind of neglect, and at the end of the bamboo forest there was a big dump at all ((((once large fish swam in ponds, and today in places even turtles do not hide in the water ...
We hoped to see a magnolia blossom (outside the park we saw, but the flowers were high, the lower ones are probably being torn off), but there were only unopened buds in the park. But we admired the lotuses!
The children were impressed by the bamboo forest, they could not walk there in any way 😊
In some places, the insect chorus is so loud that you want to turn down the sound)) A chorus of frogs croaks in the pond... amazing sounds of nature 💚 People lie down on benches and listen)))
There is a dining room and a toilet on site.
This place is overgrown with plants very far from the botanical garden. I really love nature, I like to walk in the woods just like that. But! For 400 rubles, walking through a neglected park is a dubious pleasure. There are very few plants, very few names and descriptions. Everything is unkempt and devastated. In new Athos, on the way to the Simon Kakonit grotto, you will enjoy nature much more than from the botanical in Sukhum. But suddenly you decided to go and see for yourself. Right next to it there is a small dining room in which I categorically do not recommend you to eat. It's a pity I didn't take a photo. But she's there alone, at the main entrance with arches on the right side. They presented a rotten mutton, the meat was brought in the usual way, raw meat with burnt gravy. We didn't eat, got up and left
It's just a heavenly place!!! Well maintained, with good paths. Lots of places to relax in the shade of natural ivy canopies. Huge pools with live turtles! You can go crazy with beauty there!
We have been to many places , we have experience , Abkhazia is a unique country with its status , there are interesting trees and plants, in general, the botanical garden is not well maintained. It would be possible to hire service personnel with this money that is taken at the entrance …
Walking in such a wonderful place in the heat is the right decision. Bamboo alley beckons you to take a photo! The benches for relaxation and the huge eucalyptus are impressive!
Beautiful garden! It seemed a little unkempt…
If you don't stay near poisonous plants for a long time, it can get bad!

My subjective opinion: There's nothing interesting there. From childhood memories, all these plants were planted on the territory of boarding houses, where vacationers walked for free and enjoyed the summer coolness.
I highly recommend taking a guided tour here! You will be told the peculiarities of the flora of this region, interesting plants will be shown, you will smell something, you will touch something) the only thing is that our group had limited time, and therefore everything turned out quite quickly, but everything that the local guide said, I wanted to listen as attentively and for a long time as possible! But after the tour, you can already take a walk quietly, admiring the plants.
A large number of plants from different regions of the Earth are collected in a small area. Each plant has a sign with the name and where it was brought from. There are a lot of bamboo thickets, especially in the closed area behind the canal to the right of the entrance, straight impassable jungle. There are relict specimens, including those with traces of lightning damage. It's informative, but I'm not really interested. I think it is interesting for specialists and amateurs.
The beauty is extraordinary! A wonderful guide, unfortunately, did not remember the name ((. We were with a group of artists in early November) Very interesting! I advise you not just to take a walk, but with an excursion
I really liked the Botanical Garden in Sukhum. So very well-groomed and interesting. It's nice to take a walk or sit on a bench on a sunny day. Several ponds with aquatic plants decorate the garden very much. And the huge bamboo grove is just a business card.
Earlier, I visited the Peter the Great Botanical Garden in St. Petersburg. Of course, it is the largest and most luxurious, worthy of the capital. Last year I was in the Crimea at the Nikitsky Botanical Garden. It is the largest in terms of occupied territory, but also the most neglected and unkempt.
In Sukhum, the garden is small, compact, but well maintained. Bananas grow right on the street. A wonderful place to relax.

Visiting the garden left positive emotions, it turned out to see many interesting plants, including a bamboo grove, in a pool with aquatic plants, visitors will be able to see a turtle!
A pleasant place for a two-hour walk on a hot day. I was with my wife and children. We took pictures on a palm alley, in a bamboo grove, on a huge sawn sequoia, looked at fish in the river, turtles in ponds, ate ice cream.
It's beautiful, everything is planted along alleys, very well maintained. You can meet rare plants, especially liked the bamboo forest and the story about a pine tree that was struck by lightning🫶🏻
I was amazed that there are so many different plants in a relatively small area of the city: palm trees, pines, flowers, ponds, bamboo, even sequoia! And a lot more green beauty! I really liked it!
Trees, bushes, just darkness)) lilies bloomed...smells...Kopets, sneezed in some places)))The birds are jumping, but the cicadas...It's a joke, they chatter tirelessly.recommended to visit,400 rubles adult ticket,150 children from 12 years old, up to 12 years old for free,in the center of Sukhum
A nerd's nightmare! How proud the "Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences ..." sounds, but how shameful it looks in fact.
I am a person who is used to seeing positive sides in things, but it is impossible to pass by such lawlessness. Almost all the plants are in terrible condition, overgrown, unkempt, withered, the signs are almost unreadable, everything is rusty, old... the apogee of all this was the scattered bottles on the territory and burning foliage with garbage. Do you charge people 400 rubles. and you can't put the territory in order? In order not to be unfounded, we attach photos taken this year.
I sincerely sympathize with the plants that have fallen into your hands. I hope that measures will be taken to revive this garden, because with such opportunities (climate and plants) it is possible to create a Paradise.
It's not worth paying the entrance fee if you're not a creepy batanic.
You can walk along the fence and see everything.
There are no locations for photos
The Botanical Garden is one of the attractions of Sukhum. Tickets are sold near the beautiful entrance arcade. Souvenirs and potted plants are sold right after the entrance. The prices are quite high. The garden itself will be interesting for both children and adults. Tropical trees, beautiful banana, date, fan palms and many other interesting plants. There are several artificial reservoirs with water lilies and lotuses in the center. Bamboo thickets will not leave anyone indifferent.
Beautiful garden with lots of plants. The price for admission (personal opinion) seems great. No one removes the crumbled fruits of palm trees and other trees from the paths. For those who walk with small children, it is necessary to be more careful that they did not eat them. This is prohibited by the rules of visiting the garden, so it's clear. The fence of a poisonous tree will not protect the inattentive, especially children.
There is a paid toilet and a dining room.
I liked it, we were accompanied by a wonderful guide David. Competent, caring, with a good sense of humor. Good speech! Respect and respect to such a guide!
There are a lot of interesting things, especially those who visit for the first time. Guides work periodically during the day and you can listen about plants. On the right side of the garden behind the fence (entrance through the gate) there is a small cafe, the food is delicious, the prices are small compared to Russian ones.
You can also take a walk, of course, but you will hardly get any special impressions. Unless you are a big fan of the Silvery praskoveika mossy four-leaf Japanese)))) Well, frog lovers will be happy. In short, I do not dissuade, but I do not agitate either.
Unfortunately, compared to Soviet times, and earlier I was in the 80s of the last century here and would have put 5 stars, now only 3 stars. Many unique plants are no longer there. The territory of the park is very small. I think that the lack of financial support, as it used to be in the Soviet Union, played a major role here. And now the price for admission is greatly inflated. Like "helping a drowning man."
The Botanical garden leaves much to be desired, many plants are sick, I want more care and maintenance of paths, paths and signs, the ticket price of 400 rubles does not justify visiting the garden, waiting for more, it seems that the funds are not used for their intended purpose. The maximum for such a spectacle is 100-150 rubles, the guide tells the memorized text, he cannot answer specific questions.
Tickets are expensive, there is no parking. The territory is small, maybe the cafe will please someone. There are many recurring species of plants, palms, magnolias and larches. The fountain is the only one, there are small ponds.
