The museum is interesting and informative. But you need to take into account that it is better to visit as close as possible to the opening, so that there are fewer people. We were with a guide, we liked the tour and the exhibits. In some places, you can't take photos, which there are special announcements about. There are almost always a lot of people around the key expositions, but if you wait, you can seize the moment and photograph the exhibit without people.
I want to draw attention to the fact that the toilets in the museum are FREE (but the No tips signs are almost always covered by the wide backs of local residents). At the entrance, they give you a paper and tell you that you will give the money at the exit. In general, I gave them Russian tens, which shocked the local young ladies, but it's money, because during the trip it even became a bit insulting that you have to pay for a FREE service for everyone except tourists.

A huge majestic museum, it did not work out to consider everything because the tour was almost a run, but the main exhibits were seen, a sarcophagus, a mask made of gold, majestic statues, and it is also very impressive to see something that is more than 3,000 years old, especially if it is a real mummy. The museum gives out an earpiece and the guide is perfectly audible. Things shine through at the entrance to the museum, I had nail clippers and tweezers in my makeup bag, they looked at them but missed them, it's better to post this in the future. Despite the fatigue (we left Sharma at night) We liked it.

The museum is very interesting. There are so many exhibits and history there that you can probably go there for several years. Moreover, the impressions from the visit were better than from the pyramids. There are a lot of crooked traders on the pyramids - who don't let you walk around there quietly. And here, in the museum, there was only one unpleasant moment - the cleaner in the toilet very obsessively demanded to give him a dollar.
Later, when I was flying away, I already noticed that everywhere there are signs saying that you do not need to tip. It turns out that beggars work everywhere.

A huge museum with tens of thousands of exhibits. The pictures from the history textbook came to life before my eyes. There are a lot of artifacts, sarcophagi, statues, the golden mask of Tutankhamun. A very interesting and informative tour! We took an individual one, spent more than five hours in the museum and I want to come back again.

A wonderful huge museum, many tens of thousands of exhibits. Of the large ones - sarcophagi, tombs, statues. I was lucky to see the mask of Tutankhamun, the sarcophagus. In one of the halls there is a silver sarcophagus, gold, jewelry made of gold. I tried to get around to the maximum in one day, spent about five hours there, and it's not enough, but it's enough to get acquainted with almost everything presented. It's summer, the museum is stuffy, there are no good conduits, there are rare fans.

There are many great antiquities: mummies and things of Tutankhomon's grandparents, his sarcophagi (about 80kg and 110kg in gold) and much more.
However, in some places it looks more like a warehouse than a museum: it's a little dirty, sometimes I passed by some lying sarcophagi, as if someone had forgotten them there.
I got a much better impression from the more thoughtful and modern museum in Sharm el-Sheikh. And here it's as if I didn't have enough knowledge of the context, without which it's not worth going to the museum. And part of the museum was moved to a new one, which will be opened soon. Maybe that's why it was not very clear and it seemed that the exhibits were scattered randomly.

A very majestic museum. I couldn't see everything, just a glimpse (we were there for about an hour) . But it is impressive that such grandiose sculptures, statues, all this has been preserved through thousands of years. There are guides working in the museum, they give out headphones. The museum occupies a large old building in the center of the city, and when you wander through the halls, it seems that all this is alien, as if they took a conditional government house and put exhibits everywhere. As it turned out, it is, the building was the residence of the viceroy a hundred years ago. The problem is that for a hundred years it has not been fully adapted for a museum. Let's face it: a ticket for an adult is 450 pounds in 2024, payment is only by card. The price for an Egyptian citizen is 30 pounds. There are no discounts on resident's cards. Inside, everything is very dusty, gloomy, saved only by the abundance of windows and natural lighting. Most of the showcases inside are covered with a layer of dust, the lighting of the exhibits is insufficient, the lamps have burned out in places, in general, no one keeps order. Many statues are "patched up" - thousands of people come day after day to touch the history, it is very noticeable. The museum is completely offline. No innovations, multimedia exhibits, screens, virtualization. No sound effects. The signatures to many exhibits are even printed on a typewriter! Unfortunately, more was expected from a museum of this level. The main exhibit is the golden mask of Tutankhamun. It is strictly forbidden to photograph her, but only because of this mask the museum is worth a visit. Also, at the exit of the museum there is a chic store of cool unusual souvenirs. I was also very impressed by the mummy of a huge perch.

At the exit there is a market for all the junk, where prices are significantly inflated, there are a lot of beggars and scammers at the exit from the territory.

In the museum itself, the concentration of artifacts is off the scale. It probably takes at least a month to examine each exhibit. In summer, it is better to go to the museum after 12. All the tour groups left for Giza. The museum is empty, it is not so stuffy and you can safely view the treasures of the ancient world. But the mummies of all the pharaohs of the New Kingdom were moved to another museum. In any case, this place is a must see.

Just a great museum (I haven't been in this for a long time), each hall is interesting in its own way, a lot of artifacts, sarcophagi, household items, jewelry, I recommend it to anyone who is thinking (price 450 pounds). Музей нужно посетить!!! Но с хорошим египтологом. Который будет рассказывать и показывать. Нам такого и посоветовали, и мы были в восторге. Музей огромен. Экспозиции очень много. Соответственно всё интересно!!! Время там скоротечно 🤭. Три с половиной часа пролетели как десять минут 🤦🏻♂️. Лучше заказывать отдельную экскурсию. Вас не будут возить по магазинам (которые нафиг не нужны😁). Микроавтобус на 12 мест , экскурсовод, 2 водителя и вас компания до 6 человек ( чтобы ехать с комфортом).

Впечатление от посещения музея незабываемые, столько экспонатов разнообразных, окунулись в древний мир - статуи, артефакты, мумии, гробницы, саркофаги и т.д. Золотая маска Тутанхамона, золотой саркофаг, статуя Нефертити. Гид нам попался прекрасный, русскоговорящий, столько интересного и познавательного рассказал, столько показал интересных экспонатов. Зашли в музей сразу без очереди, поток туристов большой, но очередей нет. Если будете в Каире обязательно посетите этот музей, не пожалеете.

The fresco with geese also struck. They can't even repeat it on their papyri right now. From not very-I believe that many exhibits should not be seen by living people. The floor of the museum is corpses and coffins. And from looted graves. It's not ethical, at least, to put all these things, vases with guts, on public display.

A huge museum. It takes a whole day to get around it entirely. We walked for 3 hours and did not look at everything, in the end we just ran and took pictures of the exhibits. There are a lot of people, but this is understandable - everyone wants to stare at such beauty, and besides, this is a mandatory tour for tourists 😃

Why did I write this, because as I understood the guide, the exposition is being transported to the new museum in Cairo and I do not know what will remain in this museum.
But today there are a lot of exhibits, everything is very interesting, unless of course you reject the idea that they are all from tombs, that is, they are not connected with the life of ancient Egypt, but with the graves of long-dead people.
At the entrance, if you are traveling as a savage, be sure to find and arrange with a guide, they are not expensive, and without them it will not be so interesting to look at all this.

Египетский музей просто шикарный!
160 тыс экспонатов. Такие древности выставлены! Очень познавательно ходить с грамотным экскурсоводом. Народу всегда много, но посетить этот музей при возможности обязательно нужно.

На данный момент музей переезжает в новое здание, теперь он будет находиться непосредственно в Гизе, рядом с пирамидами, очень удобно. Старый музей конечно красивый, но сейчас большая часть экспонатов уже вывезена. Стоит подождать открытия и съездить уже в новый музей. Обещают открытие в ноябре)
