I booked a room after the renovation - everything is fine. New stylish renovation, high-quality linen, gorgeous views of the mountains and the theater, there is a balcony. In general, the updated rooms are super. The location of the hotel is very super too. Breakfasts are generally normal for this price range. It will probably become my favorite hotel in Almaty, if at the same time they keep the pricing policy
The hotel is more like a four. I just can't say with a plus or minus, because there are both. So:
pluses:
- good, if not excellent central location. Opposite is the majestic building of the Opera and Ballet Theater.Abaya, it is clearly visible from the balcony. Near pedestrian Panfilov street (local Arbat), squares, monuments (monument to V.Nearby), in short, everything is within walking distance.
- the rooms are quite spacious (mine was definitely rather big) with wide windows from wall to wall
- there is an additional ottoman-type sofa, 2 armchairs and a round table. My university classmates came to see me in the evening, we had a place to sit
- beautiful view from the window (it is better to choose a high floor)
- a good, excellent orthopedic mattress, everyone knows how important it is
- terry bathrobes in the bathroom. I personally never use it, but for ladies it is sometimes a kind of chic element.
- there is a fully stocked minibar
- mosaic panel on the facade. Most likely, this is a Soviet-built building (I think it was built in the 60s and 70s, because the style resembles Soviet modernism, the mosaic panel resembles a similar one on the Pioneer Palace in Moscow)
minuses:
- The ceilings are low
- saturation of the bathroom with soap and shaving accessories is low
- the beautiful carpet is worn in some places, or even burnt
- there is no entrance to the hotel, a taxi cannot drive up, the barrier is closed. I have to run across the street with a suitcase. Not comme il faut.
- and for a snack: I left early in the morning, check-out at 7, breakfast in the dining room from 8 a.m., so there was no official opportunity to have breakfast. The reception offered a lunch box at 6:50, I agreed. They don't bring it into the room. In the morning, I made tea, quickly packed up my things, waited for a knock on the door, but a Yandex taxi arrived, and I had to quickly go down. At the reception, when I handed over the key, I asked about the lunch box, it was given out. "Why didn't you bring it to the room?" - "And we don't carry it to the room.".. I had to swallow a sandwich in a taxi, the driver was watching me closely ...))
The hotel is great!
Here I came with my family for 24 days, everything is fine, the restaurant is good, excellent even the rooms are excellent, clean, beautiful for the price, the location is excellent. I was still at The Ritz Carlton too expensive. And your hotel is much better and cheaper!!!
I advise everyone
A pleasant hotel. Convenient location in the city center.
Small bright rooms, friendly staff. The room has everything you need (bathrobe, slippers, cosmetic kit, dental kit), a full minibar. Good sound insulation.
The room has a balcony where smoking is allowed (there is an ashtray).
Very average breakfasts (buffet in the Zina restaurant), poor choice, do not make scrambled eggs /omelet for guests (everything hot is on display: mashed potatoes, sausages, buckwheat, stewed vegetables, scrambled eggs, omelet, porridge). There was no coffee at breakfast, they offered to buy it from the menu. The next day, a thermos of coffee appeared).
The breakfast tables are filled with dirty dishes (waiters chat among themselves or sit on the phone), the kitchen staff (in a cap and slates) goes out to eat at the buffet....
In general, breakfast is the weak point of the hotel, everything else is good 👌🏻
A cool view from the window - the mountains, the sun and the fresh air give an incredible feeling! I love staying in this hotel! Everything is clean and tidy! The prices are reasonable and adequate to the service!
Very nice room, there is a balcony, everything is provided. There's even an iron. Excellent breakfasts, food and drinks for every taste, friendly and attentive staff. Apparently, for safety reasons, the elevator is lifted only with the help of a card
In my opinion, the best hotel in the city in terms of a combination of parameters: price / quality / location. The new rooms are nice. Among the disadvantages are cheap plumbing and hot water (sometimes you need to spill it for 5 minutes to wait for it). Breakfasts for 3-4 if you're lucky.
I can say the following. The location of the hotel is, of course, super. The old town, everything is nearby, by the standards of Almaty. The hotel itself, it is clear that after the upgrade (repair), but it was very cold in the room (10/23/2024). The room itself was very clean. The kitchen of the hotel, and hesitated to try it:) The reception is well done, the staff is good. It would have been 5 stars, but we were frozen with a child.
A cozy hotel from the time of the Soviet Union. Beautiful lobby, cozy corridors, etc. There is Parking, paid. It is located in a historical place. Opposite the Theater, the square, the Communist Avenue. There is a cafe at the hotel where delicious coffee is served.
Overall, the stay at the hotel left a positive impression. Convenient location, clean and cozy room. I would like to see breakfast more strikingly. In my opinion, the price for accommodation is too high.
The location is very good. If you are a tourist, then this is a great place to walk around the city. Nearby there are beautiful alleys for walking, a theater, many cafes and restaurants. The hotel itself is generally not bad, but it is already worn out. The rooms often have the smell of cigarettes, which cannot be eroded. Sometimes the sockets don't work. A slightly tired shower, but it's like a number to tell. If possible, take a junior suite
The location is excellent, the views from the window are the most beautiful. The hotel only has a more or less modern facade and lobby. The lighting in the lobby is weak. Rooms with peeling wallpaper on the walls. The wallpaper is cheap and ugly. The elevator may not work for two or three days. The prices for the level of grooming of this hotel are too high.
It's a pity you can't give a 3.5 rating - this is exactly what they deserve in my opinion. The staff, as in general in our country, is not smiling.
A wonderful hotel in the city center, everything is within walking distance, cafes, shops, beautiful mountain views! I definitely recommend it!
Comfortable rooms, excellent service, delicious breakfasts!
The rooms here are different, once I was just lucky - I got a very decent room on the 6th floor. In October, we stayed at this hotel again and were not lucky with the room at all: there is mold in the bathroom, the room is very old, the table is dilapidated, full of cracks, the chair is all in some small holes (apparently, once the room was for smokers, obviously burnt), the smell in the room is old the refrigerator turned off twice at night, and smelled bad in the morning. In general, the room on the 5th floor is simply incomparable with the 6th. Well, the breakfasts at the hotel are always delicious!
4 days of business trip in a beautiful hotel. The most friendly receptionist I've ever met. 7th floor, standard with a balcony with stunning views of the mountains and the opera and ballet theater. The room has everything you need (water, tea/coffee, bathrobe, slippers, shower set, wifi, etc.). Very comfortable clean bed, cleaning every day, changing towels. The size of the room, including the bathroom is small, but it was enough for me, very cozy. Delicious varied breakfasts. 2 restaurants. The location of the hotel is wonderful. I want to come back here as a tourist, when there are numerous fountains around and you can enjoy living in this wonderful city slowly.
The location of the hotel is very convenient, close to good restaurants, a walking area, a standard superior spacious room with two balconies, beautiful mountain views. I did not like the breakfasts, the assortment and quality for 3, the interior of the restaurant where breakfast is served is gloomy, the impression of chaos. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful
The location is, of course, a dozen! But the hotel is tired: the furniture is very old. It's good that granite floors, showers, etc. were laid out at the time, this still holds.
The bed is good, the towels are not quite white, but there is no greyness either. Great slippers!!! There is a tea corner, 2 bottles of drinking water are provided every day. Large wardrobe, safe, beautiful floor-to-ceiling French windows. There are many catering establishments within walking distance. Breakfasts for 4 out of 5. Why? The dishes are almost cold, a small choice for those on PP.
Of the big disadvantages: it takes a long time to drain the water so that it becomes hot
A slightly outdated legacy of the post-Soviet era, but on the whole a decent hotel with a great restaurant, the price tag seemed overpriced to me, but generally tolerable.
Clean, neat, but it's time to update.
The hotel is located in the most convenient location in Almaty, and all the advantages end there. The rooms are cold, heating is not turned on as of October 21, although the heating season has started in the whole city since October 11. The air conditioning in the room did not work, the door handle fell off, there were 3 TVs in the room, but 1 remote control. The breakfasts are very budget-friendly and monotonous. The staff is poorly trained, do not know anything and are very lazy. The price of the rooms in the hotel is quite high, which does not correspond at all to the services provided.
A good hotel, located in the old center of Almaty. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly. Very oasis-like breakfasts. There is a mini-bar in the room. Unionpay card is accepted for payment
I can say that I thought it would be worse, the hotel in its price segment is good, excellent mountain views, clean, polite staff, there are problems with water, but maybe it was temporary.
In general, I liked it, but it was a pity there was no gym with a swimming pool. The hotel dates back to the Soviet era, very convenient location, but the hotel has been modernized. I liked almost everything
Beautiful! About 30 years ago we went to a restaurant in this hotel and ordered Kiev cutlets!! Awesome Delicious!! Very beautiful! I always admire this one. A hotel
Very tasty breakfasts and cozy rooms. I love football very much and enjoyed watching the match on the big screen in the room. Everything is clean at the highest level. It also really went down that the shower stall is transparent and this makes the design look even better
It improves with each of my visits. In December, I stayed in Kazakhstan, not to compare. The rooms are cozier and cleaner, the breakfasts are tastier and more varied, the staff is friendly and always there. Next time only in Almaty!
The hotel is simple, but cozy in its own way. It is located in a chic part of the city with a wonderful view of the mountains. The breakfasts are great
Great hotel, in a convenient location. The rooms are renovated, neat, the balcony in the room is also a plus, on the floors in the common halls there are large balconies with mountain views and excellent breakfasts. I really liked the hotel!
I got into the offseason, booked a regular room and got twice as expensive. Heating is not provided on time, the room was dog-cold. The bed is uncomfortable. A lumpy mattress, a downy, non-breathable blanket. I gave away a lot of money, no comfort. Warm up with a conditioner, they said at the reception. The place is very convenient. I do not recommend anyone who likes comfort, the price does not match the quality.
Staying at this hotel every time, it is located in the center, it is convenient to get there, although the breakfasts are not very good, there is something to work on
Everything is very cool!!! The administration is friendly, always ready to help, I try to stay at the Almaty hotel, every time I arrive in the city of the same name. Great conference room!!!

Upon arrival in Almaty, I stayed at this hotel. Very clean, friendly staff. I wanted to get acquainted with the city, but I am not familiar with the city, as I was just a tourist. My friends recommended Melon Travel, and I decided to book a guide through them. The guide had a great sightseeing tour of the city. It was very cool! I recommend this company!!!!
The hotel is nice, the staff is polite.
The rooms are outdated, breakfast is extremely basic.
The buffet leaves much to be desired, because the assortment is quite meager.
The room came across a Soviet model, the furniture and all accessories are already aged, but it performs its function.
There is a piano on one floor.
A wonderful hotel. After the repair. The room has everything: bathrobe, slippers, toothbrushes, tea, coffee. Everything is new and often. It's just lovely
Convenient location, near the hotel metro and various cafes, Halyk bank and currency exchange. I lived in a single room, the room is already in need of renovation. The breakfasts are mediocre. If you have an early departure, then be prepared for the fact that in the morning, in order for hot water to appear, it needs to be run for about 10-15 minutes.

There are no disadvantages, it is a historically significant place, the nedelka fountain is very close, "The Last Fight of Atbai" was filmed there, the hotel itself is an iconic, atmospheric place with all the consequences...The service is on the level, you can always have a pleasant meeting or organize a conference ...
I RECOMMEND
One of the oldest hotels in the city, rooms of different categories and comfort. Convenient location and friendly staff
23.01.2024 I experienced an earthquake with a force of 5 points in it, for this a separate plus)
Beautiful view of the mountains. But. October, the room is cool without heating. At breakfast, the staff allows themselves to communicate loudly on personal topics with obscene expressions in front of guests. It's kind of unpleasant to start the morning in such a key.
Shower toilet behind glass in the room. While I lived for three days:
1. The elevator shaft was painted and in general it stank of paint everywhere for a day
2. When the hotel was completely full, 1 of the 2 elevators was decommissioned
3. Electricity went out for several hours at night
4. In the morning on the day of departure, only boiling water from all taps. The plumber couldn't fix it!
