The sanatorium is magnificent. It was called in Soviet times after the 17th Party congress. Of course, the nomenclature rested there. Ordinary people could only look through the forged palace fence and admire all this splendor. We rested there after the war of Abkhazia and Georgia in 1996. A lot was lost (the pool did not work), there were problems from shells. But the staff tried to keep clean and kept an excellent Soviet school of communication with vacationers. Courtesy and consideration. A magnificent sanatorium. There were many good procedures. Doctors worked., it was possible to do massage., various baths.
The most beautiful place. ,a park. In Soviet times, Gagra was a paradise for recreation. Sanatoriums, rest homes. Everything was in order. The park is gorgeous.Ponds, swans, peacocks. There are lights everywhere, everything is trimmed and well-groomed. Swings, carousels. People walked around dressed up in the evenings. It's just paradise. I'll never forget it. I was in Abkhazia in 2018. I took my son to show the Athos caves, with a visit to the monastery on Ppitsunda, to Gvgripsh and Gagrin Park. Alas... There is nothing left of the former splendor. The rose garden, the withered grass, the tent on the tent were lost. Everything is fine.. It's a sad sight. I asked in a cafe in Athos to sit in a small cafe with a cup of tea near the entrance to the caves - they were rude, they were not allowed. I didn't feel well, I had a cold, and my son and my husband went to the caves. It was very hot in August. We had to wait in the car in which we arrived for the tour. Cows are lying on the roads, no one follows the driving rules, they drive ugly. It made me very sad.. Of course, nothing can spoil the beauty of the nature of Abkhazia, but compared to Soviet times, this is not a super resort, but just villages by the sea.

Accommodation in the central building is more expensive than in the second building, which is located a little further away, but all in one huge beautiful territory.

I am passing on the impressions of my relatives who returned from there in August 2023. It was their first time, so they chose a good hotel. Unfortunately, the only advantages are the sea and the beach. The biggest problem is the dining room. It is completely unsanitary, the tables are dirty and sticky, the napkins are almost plastic with dried food. There were not enough dishes at lunchtime, it is poorly washed, fat pops up in cups after filling with boiling water. The staff of the dining room in gray shirts, once were white. There was a guy with a bandaged arm, the bandage was dirty. He put the leftovers on a tray, where there was a rag, which he then wiped the tables with. The food was raw for some reason, apparently they save on electricity. Only chicken is made from meat, and telapia is made from fish. Sometimes there were dishes made of veins and the smell of mutton. Products are purchased of poor quality. For lunch, an incomprehensible alcoholic drink is served in wine glasses, the staff could not answer its origin. They just said it was homemade wine. As a result, many people were sick with rotovirus. Instead of a pleasant rest, the son and mother were lying with fever, vomiting and diarrhea. The price tag does not match the level of the hotel. It was very unpleasant to spend a vacation in such a hotel.

We were escorted to the room, there are no others, too fat... the girl is picky. The hotel takes out only the capital repairs of the great Soviet heritage. It's worth it. I'll come again. Maybe.

We had a rest from June 21-26, 2021. A room in the Main building. I was pleased with the interior. The arboretum is incomparable. The girls at the reception are very responsive. The food is beyond praise (we have full board)
Despite the full workload of the hotel, there are no queues at the restaurant. Three coffee machines are working properly. You can always find free sun beds on the beach, lifeguards are on duty. We will be happy to come back again.

Probably the only decent place in Abkhazia at the European level. A well-equipped private beach with umbrellas, sun beds, toilets, showers for changing clothes, there are no strangers there, there are always places. The food is good and varied (of course, it can get boring for a long period) a lot of fruits. The rooms are small but feel bigger due to the high ceilings. The three of us are a little cramped. Nice indoor pool. Service and cleaning every day, bedding is all normal. The only thing is the pillows are not very good. And yet the cost seemed a little too high for this hotel and place.... well, demand generates supply)

We arrived in Abkhazia for the first time in June 2022, we started our journey through the most beautiful Region from Gagra and stayed for a week in AMRA. main building, 2-room junior suite. To some extent, they felt like high-ranking party workers of the 50s , 60s)). It used to be a closed sanatorium, in 2018 it was renovated and it was done at an excellent level. The large rooms have high ceilings ~ 4m, new wallpaper in the style of the last century. The owners of the hotel Restored the chic stucco ceilings of the lobbies (its own on each floor and unique in the restaurant). They did not skimp on chandeliers like in the Bolshoi Theater in the dining room and managed to keep the chic furniture in the corridors (stickers from the manufacturer "Hungarian manufactory" were preserved on the backs of the cabinets) - all this is very atmospheric. At the same time, modern elevators, well-groomed territory, its own beach, which can be seen that it is being watched, a restaurant and a bar, a cinema, animation for children and the absence of a crowd! In my opinion, it is a bomb hotel for Abkhazia. There is not enough branded hotel transfer from Russia, at least as a paid option, but when you see that the owners and managers are trying to develop the hotel, you do not want to find fault with the little things. I wish the hotel prosperity, we liked it here!

We rested from 21 . 08-01.09 2022. I am very disappointed in this hotel, after reading good reviews, we decided to relax with my daughter-in-law and two granddaughters, one 6 years old, the other 1 g 7 m. From the first days, a surprise was already waiting for us. We did not receive the promised room, instead of 16 m2 we gave 9m2 and this is for our company. It's useless to prove anything, pay extra or check in! The beach is very large stones, but not pebbles. The territory is large and beautiful, they seem to be trying to do something, but very lazily. In the dining room, the waiters are half sleepy, they don't ask to clean the table or take out the glasses.The manager does not care about everything along the way and the fact that the products are sometimes not fresh, she also does not care about weight. And our neighbors on the ground floor had their phones stolen at night , the balconies were open and a koala was committed, and the administration doesn't care. I do not advise you to go to this hotel and I will never come again!!

We had a great time! The hotel is on the first line by the sea with its own beach, restaurant (there are only two on site), umbrellas and sun loungers. At the entrance, one of the towels is given directly to the beach so that it can be laid on a chaise longue. The beach is mixed, there is both sand and pebbles. On the first day of our stay, we bought transparent rubber slippers for swimming in the sea, as there are pebbles and large ones in places. There are slippers of 300 rubles. in the stalls in Gagra.
We were impressed by the mountains that rise immediately behind the hotel - the picture is simply unique and pleasing to the eye. The sea is clean and warm.
I really liked the food at the hotel, the buffet is not comparable to Turkey even close! Everything is fresh and natural. If you want vegan food, you want fructarian, but for meat lovers it's just paradise - cutlets, kebabs, fried chicken, etc. and so on. Red and white wine are served at lunch.
The room is cleaned every day, there is a conditioner and a TV. The rooms in this hotel are only two and four-bedded. If you have a threesome with a child, then you will be put in a double room with a cot. They do not have full-fledged triple rooms (pay attention to this from the operators, they do not always own this information).
There is also an indoor swimming pool on site. We did not ask for help and no one did any inspections when launching it. We swam a couple of times, mostly went to the sea. Those who love fitness, then a gym is provided.
There is a place to walk in the evening. You can get from the hotel to the center by taxi. It costs from 100 to 200 rubles, but you can also walk or take a bus, which is very rare.
I liked absolutely everything! For those who want to spend time calmly, in an atmosphere of comfort and positivity, slowly - here you are! The impression of Abkhazia and AMRA was left in our hearts by the kindest and sunniest!

A very beautiful, restored and renovated hotel from the time of the Stalinist Empire! The eye rejoices at every step! The hotel is a museum, but with a completely renovated setting. There is an arboretum everywhere, cicadas sing, fountains play with spray, their own beach line, incredible evening lighting.
The standard rooms are small in size - 12-16 m2, but it does not bother. The rooms are all new, very nice bed linen with the addition of silk threads.
And how they feed!!! It's so delicious and varied! Traveling a lot, we rarely saw this! Both the 1st (historical) and 2nd buildings eat in the restaurant of the 1st building. The restaurant is also beautiful and chic!
There is a Beauty center, massages and wellness treatments are performed, the profile of the medical department is the musculoskeletal system and blood vessels.

Disgusting attitude towards guests already on the phone! We tried to reschedule the reservation for a day, as we did not have time to arrive in Abkhazia, as a result, our reservation was canceled by the staff (instead of postponing and shortening the rest days) and the money paid into the reservation for the first day was burned!!! To my question why my reservation was canceled and not rescheduled, I was not given an answer and was offered to book another room again. As a result, there was no desire to go to the Amra hotel, especially with such a scam approach.
