This was our fourth time in Pattra.
Over the past 4 years since the last visit, the hotel has been deteriorating. It feels like the owners have abandoned the hotel to local managers. Now, Pattra's "Thai management" is more of an oxymoron.
Disappointment will be waiting for you everywhere.
Terrible savings on staff. At the check-in, I dragged my things myself. A wheelbarrow and a slim woman are attached to it, of course, but she is unable to lift the suitcase, and there is no need.
The territory is running. They sweep at most once a day, while the wind blows garbage into the pool, fallen branches are not cleaned in time. The vegetation is poorly cared for - the trees turn yellow and fly around, they are practically not watered. Previously, the hedge near the villas was carefully cut, now it's just bushes. The sawn branches from the mango tree at the gym lay undelivered for almost 3 weeks of our stay. Lawns in fallen leaves and dry grass.
Deck chairs and umbrellas are of depressing quality and require replacement or at least attention- painting to make them look divine. The umbrellas have faded from red to white.
Yes, there are only 15 sun loungers for the entire pool. If the load is incomplete, problems arise only with the availability of mattresses for them, and in the week when the hotel was occupied by 70%, all of them are "reserved" by cunning Europeans who, having occupied them, are not present. The administration does not regulate this point in any way.
Despite the fact that the pool is open until 20:00, mattresses can be removed from the sun loungers after five. And those who are modest, who come from the beach later, are located on bare boards.
You can forget about the former hearty and varied breakfast - now everything has been brought to European uniformity. Standard eggs, a set of vegetables / fruits, a few local "specialties": wantons, gyoza, sausages alternate every other day.
There are no more famous pancakes, pad thai, rice of different choice from under the chef's knife according to your order.
The coffee got better - a coffee machine was installed. But filtered "brown water" is also available.
As for the rooms, I always stayed in the same villa, now it has been slightly renovated, the ceilings have been whitewashed, furniture has been added in some places. But the roof leaks in the same place where it always does in heavy rain. The refrigerator has stopped freezing, which is very depressing. The hotel made it impossible to disconnect the key from the power management card by sealing the ring. When you leave, you completely de-energize the room and return to the stuffy room. Life hack- to make a clone of the key costs 60 baht in Big C and you are autonomous.
Cleaning is also without wow effect, the current maids are no longer those two cheerful grannies who, for tips, always prioritized us in their turn, twisted swans out of towels, and coped with chaos in the child's bedroom, and changed the linen as it gets dirty, and not for 3-4 days.
Now, from 12 to 13, the maids have lunch. Already at 11:45, after finishing the room next door, they will not start cleaning yours, preferring to go to lunch earlier. Despite the hour set for lunch, their dead hour lasts almost until 14:00. Once you get into it, you have to spend time by the pool for fear of scaring the parish away.
The tips I left daily in both bedrooms did not save the situation - the cleaning was very superficial.
Everything is standard, nothing on top. When cleaning, the bathroom is ignored on principle.
Here, in some reviews, I saw refusals to wash dishes - I came across this a couple of times when the shift of cleaners changed. This kmk is included in the scope of cleaning, but it may have been a magical effect from the tip). But in general, it makes no sense to tip, maids are lazy.
The Internet is lagging here, then the page freezes, then throws out the connection. Sometimes it is difficult to hold a teleconference. At the same time, you can reconnect to routers of different villas- but this does not solve the problem. It's terribly annoying.
The detached fitness building consists of a small gym and several massage rooms. One of the two treadmills is running in the gym. The canvas of which is pressed so much that it is suitable only for careful walking, but not for running.
Strength training machines are also ruined.
In general, this building with a SPA and a gym is a waste of money for the owner. In all my visits to the hotel, I have never seen guests who preferred to spend 800 baht on foot massage at the hotel instead of 300 in the salon 20 meters away. But, electricity- light and air conditioning are working almost in vain.
One of the significant disadvantages that has not been corrected during this time is the lack of a 24-hour reception / accommodation service. At 21:00, everything is on the shovel and if God forbid something happens, then your only contact is a night watchman who is barely familiar with English.
This time we overreacted with pattra by staying for more than two weeks, they were spent without pleasure.
Taking into account the changes that have occurred, a week here will seem like a month ...
PS. Other hotels, those that are always in front of our eyes, by the beach, which previously lost to Pattra, have improved during the pandemic, built pedestrian paths, landscaped the territory, landscaped the beach, parking lots, opened new bars. It was nice to go out to sea.
Many, but not Pattra…
