The New Athos Cave in Abkhazia is a unique and informative place that is worth a visit. The cave impresses with its scale and beauty, as well as an interesting history. The entrance to the cave by train, from the time of the USSR, which immerses you more into the atmosphere of this place. the guide tells a very interesting story. If you have the opportunity to visit Abkhazia, be sure to visit this amazing place.

It's worth a look, it's a very big, interesting tour. There are terrible queues during the day. It is worth coming for tickets after 7 pm. The last tour is at 20.10. There will be no people. During the day, people queue for hours. On the ground floor there is a tasting room, the only place in Athos where real wine is sold, a shop from the factory. Everywhere else in the city is powdered and fake.

The cave is very beautiful. It's cool inside, about +12°. Long sleeve clothes won't hurt. They are taking a mini train to the cave. I need a ticket. The cost is 700 rubles. They are sold on time. You do not need to buy a ticket for a photo shoot, in fact, no one forbids taking photos. If you are going to use your car, arrive earlier, queue at the ticket office in the middle of the day for several hours. Perhaps it will be faster with the tour, the guides do not stand in line, they buy tickets in bulk. There is a cafe, dining room, parking nearby.

07.09.23 arrived at 11:40, queue for 10 minutes, entered the cave at 12:20 The cave itself is striking in its scale. Polite staff. A pleasant guide and an interesting tour. It is comfortable and safe to be in the cave. There is a lot of illumination, which competently emphasizes the beauty of the cave. We parked below the cave, at 11:30 there was a lot of space. The entrance ticket is 700rubles, it's not a pity at all! 10₽ toilet ))

The cave did not impress us, since we are from the Urals and we have many "wild" caves. But as a one-time entertainment, you can go. However, the queue for the ticket was held for 21.5 hours in the heat, and then the entrance was given after 2 hours only. But according to the locals, it's still fast 😁

We read reviews about how unrealistic it is to buy tickets, about hourly queues, etc . We arrived at 12:00. Tickets were sold for the session at 13:40, but when the queue began to get closer to the box office, tickets for 12:40 appeared. Apparently there was a reservation for the group, but they did not arrive. We bought tickets for 12:40 and 10 minutes later we went on a tour. The scale is amazing, it's worth it. Many tour groups are scared by the cold, etc., but at the entrance you can take a blanket for 100 rubles, it was quite tolerable in a light jacket. I definitely recommend you to visit

It is very beautiful and fascinating. It is better to occupy seats in the first car and in the front seats, both there and back. Before that, a hearty meal and a toilet are required, 1.5 hours of walking require energy. Cash inside if you want to buy pieces of stalactites. It can be slippery inside, it is better to take shoes that do not slip on a wet, smooth surface. Arrive before 10-11 am, then there are huge queues.

An interesting place. You are taken to the cave by a small train resembling a subway, which is very unusual. Among the disadvantages, there is a long queue for tickets, low organization of access control, large tour groups are allowed to pass out of turn. A very large number of people are launched at a time, about 100-150, which causes inconvenience and crowding inside the cave. In general, the caves are equipped very well, there are several observation decks, and the pedestrian bridge is fascinating with its height and length. In the cave, you can buy pieces of stalagmites, though at an exorbitant price. The guide gets five points for diction and the ability to convey the history of the cave. The tour itself lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes, it is not very cold in the cave, about 14 degrees, but I recommend warming up. The jacket can be rented both at the entrance and at the nearby market, the price is 100 rubles.

I liked the tour, I went out with the children impressed by the grandeur of the cave. If you plan to visit the cave, take your outerwear with you, it is quite cool underground. You can pay 50rubles for photos at the entrance, no one checks the tickets. There is a plaid rental at the entrance-100rubles.The guide splits everything interestingly, explains

An impressive place!!! Majesty, it's very well organized. We arrived ourselves, in the very season, we arrived somewhere at 12-13, the main problem is parking, but we found a place for 100 rubles) we stood in line for tickets for 15 minutes, then everything is clear, the train, the tour. The only thing is those who have problems with blood vessels, keep in mind, it may be bad, I didn't feel very well, but I suffered, a guy of 17 years old was taken out. It's enough to take a hoodie with you, there are blankets, too, 100p

The caves are impressive, as are the tour facilities. The USSR supplied and built it. Only trailers and railings with fences are modern. It was frustratingly disappointing that they do not work every day, and they may refuse to sell tickets if they buy out travel companies. A separate cognitive dissonance is caused by the announcement of the sale of tickets for photographing on the territory of the complex. There is also an announcement of a fine of 500 rubles when photographing without a ticket. Tickets for the visit cost 700 rubles / person. At the entrance to the trailer, the ticket was taken without tearing off the "control". Someone is clearly chemical on the tickets. Otherwise, I liked it. Definitely worth a visit.

I was here about 35 years ago, it was 5/6 years old for the first time, I remember already then, this time we arrived with our family, arrived in our car, parked for 200 rubles next to the entrance, local guys quickly informatively help (thank you) in the queue we stood idle for 30/35 minutes, the entrance is 700rubles a blanket can be taken for rent for 100₽! We didn't take it. It's not cold without it! An hour and a half of walking will be remembered by everyone from little to great! An unforgettable experience of the stolen natural underground landscape! The whole tour is accompanied by a local guide, we had a man of about 60 years old, he tells us very funny and interesting, you can buy quartzites and even pebbles! We recommend that those who can sing can try to check the acoustics of one of the "places" of the cave live! Don't be shy!!!

The queues at the ticket office are terrible, we arrived at 15, and got into the cave at 18.30. Tickets were only for this time. In the cave, galloping through Europe, it is dark and the backlight is turned on when the guide tells about the attraction of the cave, it was much better there 35 years ago.

Well, what can I say: grandiose! That's great! Nature once again surprised the self-appointed king of nature with the grandeur of its capabilities (Look at that table granite - when it began to grow, people had not yet climbed down from the trees, but this huge stone fell from the ceiling quite recently, 50 thousand years ago, and the height of this hall is 60 meters and it will fit a couple of football fields ...) Everything is well organized in the cave, in the USSR they did not save money on their citizens - everything is thorough and thorough - arches, bridges, concrete passages and aqueducts, tunnels with trains, etc. Large excursions arrive before lunch, they have priority tickets. Groups of 100 people, but in a huge cave it's a pathetic bunch. Each group has its own guide. In the cave, there are observation decks in each hall, sound and light control, and excellent acoustics. He breathes so easily, as if there were 2 throats. It's 14 degrees in the cave, but for 100 rubles they give blankets at the entrance (it's enough not to drag jackets with you). You can film everything - no one finds fault. Tickets are sold quite quickly at the entrance, groups go every 10 minutes (100 people each). At the entrance there are many souvenirs, water, food, ice cream and an excellent shop from the Sukhumi winery with producer prices. By the way, he is in the mountain and it is cool there like in a cave - you can take a break from the heat. Nearby is the New Athos Monastery and one of Stalin's dachas.

An interesting attraction, a little creepy, especially for excursions when the lights were turned off during a thunderstorm)). It is better to come as savages to the opening - there is no queue, there are tickets. Then there are buses with excursions and a queue, like in a mausoleum). And you can find a place in the parking lot. In order to leave the parking lot later, it took the help of people, cars, like herrings in a barrel). There is a dining room on the third floor, you can refresh yourself after an hour and a half walk through the dungeon. I liked the tour, the guide tells in detail about the caves with musical accompaniment, but do not forget your jacket or jacket, it's damp and cool there. I bought tickets for legal photographing in caves, but no one forbade stowaways to take pictures.

A big beautiful cave, definitely worth a visit. As for me, it's still worth going with an excursion, since you can stand for hours for tickets and go early in the morning right from the opening. In the cave you can buy souvenirs in the form of ancient debugs, but for some reason you can't take pictures of them, so I doubt it in terms of legality, but who stops it)

We have not been in the cave, as in Abkhazia, for 7 years...Some things have changed, of course. And when you live there nearby, the impressions are completely different, much better, because you begin to recognize and love this place. And the place is truly wonderful! The cave itself is easily located, because it is located on the main road, if you drive away from the shore towards the mountain. A large building was built, on the 1st floor there is a ticket office (although the entrance is already 700 rubles / person (and photographing in a separate box office is 50 rubles). In the cave, the main stalactites and stalagmites were illuminated in a different way, special music was turned on in each large hall (from the Terek choir to Bach)... They changed the lamps to those that prevent the spread of moss and lichens. And they began to sell pieces of crystals in the middle of the route to those who wish (it seems to me that these are not stalactites, of course)) so that people would not spoil the exhibits. The lights in each hall are arranged in such a way that they automatically turn off in time, prompting those who were about to leave. It is very beautiful and impressive, everything is well maintained, the train is in perfect order, wonderful! On the 3rd floor of the building there is a small cafe, oriental coffee and honey cake (homemade and the most delicious really right!!) - 5 points! And the view from the balcony... Tangerines, persimmons, bananas and roses are all around...A fairy tale! Thanks!! We really want to go there again!!! 🙏 ❤️

This is a very cool place! I recommend it to everyone to visit. There are several halls inside the cave, which are simply amazing in their size. It is very beautiful and very fascinating. All this is complemented by the guide, telling interesting facts from the history of the cave. I advise you to take a flashlight with you to highlight the faces in the photos and warm clothes, because the temperature inside is +14 degrees all year round. Tickets are mainly sold to tour groups. There is a live queue that moves fast enough, but it's not a fact that you will be able to get in right away. For example, we arrived at 11:30, having stood for about 25 minutes, tickets were only for 16:00. Sometimes you get lucky and someone hands over tickets near the ticket office, a few minutes before the start of the next tour. The ticket costs 500 rubles per adult, I don't remember about the children, we were without them. There is a dining room in the complex, and there are plenty of places where you can have a snack on the street. I will definitely come back again! 👍👍👍

A wonderful, legendary place, for the sake of which we came for a day during our vacation in Adler. The tour was interesting, the route was thought out and safe, if you do not make adventurous attempts to look away from the hiking trail. You can easily get lost. The locals were surprised at the entrance to the cave with their indomitable desire to collect additional fees for photo and video shooting. Don't be fooled by these extortion attempts. Everyone was filming in the cave, both those who had been divorced and all the normal tourists who remained. We were lucky then, and we returned safely to Adler with great impressions. In the current difficult situation, I would not go there!

We have long wanted to visit these caves. We got to the end . The queue is of course in 3 forks. We stood for 1.5 hours for tickets. The time was about 15.00. And we got tickets for 17.10. Let's go for a couple of hours to the waterfall and to the grotto, then. We arrived at the appointed time. There are just a lot of people !!! Stuffiness is not possible. They launched onto the platform and waited for the train to arrive for about 20 minutes. The caves themselves are clean, the guide tells everything and accompanies you all the way. But it's slippery in places. For a one-time visit and for a show, that's the thing.

There was practically no queue at 2 p.m. The temperature in the cave is constantly + 14, but you can rent a blanket from them for 100 rubles. We were there for the first time, first we were taken on a small train (I recommend going straight to the end of the platform to sit at the very beginning, a panoramic view will open like a driver's), then we walked through many halls accompanied by an exciting excursion that lasts 1.5 hours, but this time flies by unnoticed. The most interesting thing is that the cave is the second in the world in terms of volume and was opened only in 1961. They will tell you a lot of cool facts and offer to buy a piece of the cave (a small calcite). I bought it, but then I started Googling and something about this stone is not very similar to the original, maybe they cheated or it's one of the varieties (if someone knows about this stone, please answer). Otherwise, I liked it, it's worth visiting at least once

Firstly, it is interesting to see: underground rocks, halls and caves, calcite formations: stalactites and stalagmites, and even a huge calcite waterfall that amazes the imagination.. and also listen to the choir singing in the halls (yes, there is such a thing). Secondly, this is a good place to take a break from the hot heat of Abkhazia. Children like it!

Beautiful, impressive, rescue in the heat. Many wore warm clothes or took blankets at the entrance. We were comfortable in T-shirts too. Taking a train ride before the start of the excursion route is an interesting journey, especially for children. We have visited similar caves in several countries. The New Athos caves are much larger. Some of the halls are huge, and the lakes are also beautiful. There are very few stalactites, stalagmites, and even more so stalagmites. And they stand alone, illuminated... I recommend a mandatory visit. Payment in cash. I advise you to come in the morning, then there is a high probability of getting to the next session in the season. We got on the tour 10 minutes after buying the ticket. We arrived at 10 a.m.
