Admission is paid and costs 25 euros. The locals themselves do not advise going there and suggest going to the blue mosque, which is opposite.
It is no longer a temple, a mosque, or a museum. Just a building with a history. The price of 25 euros is not worth it
The ancient, majestic bulk of the Orthodox church is the cradle of Russian Orthodoxy. It is worth visiting Istanbul for this very reason. The Turks, although they made the temple a mosque, did not touch the frescoes. There is something native about this place.
Very expensive. First, 1.5 hours in line for a ticket, then another hour to enter. To see everything in 20-30 minutes. And 25 euros per person....
With that said, it's not worth it. Any other mosque in Istanbul is much more beautiful and interesting inside. And the entrance to them is free.
Yes, history, yes, the world famous temple/mosque.
But Sofia looks much more impressive from the outside than from the inside. It is definitely not worth spending so much time and money for the sake of several restored frescoes.
Morning and afternoon queues and jostling. In the evening, somewhere after 17 hours, it was quieter, we were almost alone on the second tourist floor before closing, the first floor is only for Muslim Turks. Amazing and a must-visit! Christian churches and mosques were subsequently built on this model. The next day we watched it from Galata hill - it's impressive if it also gets its original red color back...
I have dreamed of visiting St. Sophia for a very long time, and finally I have! The size of the space is really amazing, and traces of previous eras are displayed on the walls. Fragments of ancient Byzantine frescoes are strikingly beautiful. I can imagine how majestic the cathedral was when the whole space was decorated with them!
There were both when there was a museum and when there was a mosque. The mosque needs special clothes for women. It is very inconvenient that you can enter only when there is no service in the mosque. And so of course it is very impressive!!!
We did not go, exorbitant prices for three, something like 10000r, huge queues of about 300 people at the entrance and 200 for tickets, I do not see the point in killing half a day for 30 minutes, from the outside the temple, like all Turkish mosques, does not look good
The cost is 25 euros. It is interesting to see with your own eyes and draw your own conclusions. I didn't catch any special sensations from the energy. The history of the temple is very interesting, it is worth studying
The size and scale of this structure is impressive. As well as his story. The only disappointment was that the cost per visit was set. 50 euros for visiting the 2nd floor and the museum.
Giant queues. First the queue for tickets, then the queue to enter. Moreover, a ticket at the box office costs 25 euros, and there are stands all around to buy an online ticket, but it will already cost 50 euros! In Sofia itself, only the 2nd floor is available! Earlier
I really liked it. I visited here in the evening, I got to work. The cathedral was impressive. I want to visit it again and again. A strong impression.
Come after 17 o'clock! The mosque is empty, there is no queue! You'll be alone. In the morning, the queue is for 2 hours. Closed clothes are sold next to the cash registers, but it is better to choose a closed option in advance.
Hagia Sophia is a symbol of Istanbul and its business card! Once in Istanbul, this cathedral cannot be missed. This is history, so be sure to take a guide!
For Russian money, 7 for two, now in the heat of 38 degrees, it's not clear where to go, you're standing here, you're standing there, then it turned out to be wrong again, you're standing, and the whole temple was bypassed in 7 minutes, don't go there, it's closed, nonsense
I highly recommend it. Now the 2nd floor has been opened with beautiful and ancient frescoes, which you definitely need to see! A special atmosphere and the opportunity to touch very distant centuries
The most magnificent temple, which is more than 1,500 years old. During this time, the temple was looted by the Ottoman Empire and the Crusaders, but it still delights with its grandeur and beauty, just imagine how it looked before the looting!!! Be sure to read its history, there is little that can compare with the scale of construction now. By the way, all Turkish mosques are built in the likeness of St. Sophia Cathedral (that's how much the temple impressed the Ottomans). It was also this temple that became the beginning of the baptism of Russia.
In Istanbul, how not to visit.
A huge beautiful temple, from where the history of the Orthodoxy of Russia began.
Unfortunately, the ancient Christian frescoes are almost all destroyed or closed.
It looks beautiful, but the most important thing is its history, including those related to the Russian Empire and our state. You can take a tour of the mosque, but everywhere they write that it's free, but in fact it's not, and the cost is kind of wild in my opinion.
It was the first facility in Istanbul.
Of course it's impressive. But it would be even cooler if you could feel it all from the first floor.... But they don't let you in there.
Christian images are covered up.
Well, the price for foreigners for admission (25 euros) is also touching....
I was here in November 2023. A wonderful place! You can see the place where the ancient soldiers stood (footprints are hollowed out (in the course )) The only drawback is that the carpet smells very unpleasant with international feet (I advise you to take shoe covers). But the place is very beautiful! It's a pity that the Ottomans covered everything with plaster.(
A monumental structure. We were in 2022 with an individual tour. Fascinating views and frescoes. It is a pity that it has not been restored for a long time
One of the world's most famous places in Istanbul and Turkey. There is a fully manicured area around. Further along the streets you can arrange a good promenade.
By making Sofia a mosque, Erdogan made a big mistake. Many prophecies say that very soon this Temple will be Orthodox again. Well, let's see.
The size of this great Temple is amazing. Slimness, the air inside. An incredible place. Sofia is not a mosque in spirit, and never will be) whatever the Turks depict in it.
The place is comparable in importance to the Roman Colosseum. Since 2024, access is not everywhere, which is a shame. You won't be able to touch the doors from Noah's Ark.

Beauty. There are not many words to choose, you need to look with your own eyes.
Of the cons:
1. You will see ONLY the 2nd floor. Be prepared for this. The ground floor is not accessible to ordinary visitors (only for Muslims, as I was told).
2. Stairs at the entrance and exit to the 2nd floor, made of marble slabs, were sealed with poor wooden decking. Now this beauty is inaccessible to the eyes.
3. The SADDEST THING!!!! When visiting the temple, be prepared for the nervous cries of the guards: "Don't touch!!!!" in completely open areas for visitors. They run and scream. You cannot touch a column or a wall with your finger. Then why, dear ones, do you conduct these excursions and charge 25€???? Either shut down or slow down. That's what I said to the guard: "Shall we go to the cash register for a refund??" He didn't want to and I didn't hear him anymore.
I recommend.
An amazingly beautiful place of incredible energy. Yes, there are long queues, there are a lot of people inside, but it's worth it. Do you understand why the ambassadors of Vladimir the Great decided to be Orthodox
The ambivalent impression of the building. A large and ancient TEMPLE. For all Orthodox, this is a TEMPLE. And let the frescoes be hung and prayer is sung, but this is a GREAT TEMPLE.
Admission is free, around the clock, you need handkerchiefs inside, they sell disposable ones for 30 rubles. You can't wear shorts, women come in trousers
The mosque itself is very beautiful and has a rich history, BUT has the entrance to this mosque been paid for! And the price per person is 25 euros! This is blasphemy, firstly, and secondly, it was possible to put at least a lower price if they decided to make money on tourists
I had to stand in line for tickets for forty minutes, but it was worth it. The former temple and now the mosque is full of history and secrets. When you look at this magnificent building, it is impossible to understand how such buildings were built many centuries ago.
A former Byzantine Orthodox church, with old frescoes left in some places! It is very exciting to touch such ancient walls! Special beauty and atmosphere!
Sofia, of course, is impressive. A monumental structure. The audio guide does not work well - local wi-fi is only available at the entrance, and the mobile signal passes through thick walls
As of January 2024, the entrance for tourists is only on the 2nd floor, the ticket price is 600 liras. Downstairs, the entrance to the mosque is for Muslims only. Beautiful, large-scale, expensive. You need to look at it once
Hagia Sophia was made paid and it definitely did her good. Now you can see the masterpieces of Byzantine iconography of the X-XIII centuries without a crowd.
