I.e. you sleep with blue light. Breakfast is very poor, cottage cheese and yoghurts standing in the sun, chechil cheese and cookies? But, in principle, you can have breakfast with a beautiful view of the sea) But all this could have been accepted if not for the stunning attitude of the staff!!! A huge heavy umbrella by the pool was torn off, and by some miracle it did not touch my colleagues. The "signor", sitting at the reception desk, came up and instead of apologizing, began to explain-why did you open the umbrella (although it was already open, no one touched it), we are not responsible for the wind, why do you even need an umbrella?to my polite address- how is it, guys, you have such a pleasant the hotel, and this attitude towards customers?? The answer is "signora" - we don't need good reviews, we're fine as it is. A curtain... Honestly, I've been to much more budget hotels in Sukhum (this is the 4th time I've been here for work), but this is the first time I've seen such staff. I remind you- this is 4 stars, the price is not small...

I really liked the hotel. Clean, beautiful, quiet. The cleaning is good. One of the disadvantages is the lack of breakfasts, but the money was refunded for them. Good afternoon! We stayed at this hotel from August 15 to 27, 2024. The renovation, the furniture of the hotel are all excellent, the photos correspond to reality, but that's it. The hotel's policy is not aimed at attracting customers. What didn't you like:
1 There is a dining room , but ordinary guests are not fed in it, unless some guests arrive . During the 12 days of our stay , we were fed in the hotel dining room only three times , and then only when the choir arrived with a performance from Moscow . This hotel has an agreement with the city that all performing groups, artists or ensembles live with them - This information is from the words of the hotel manager. The rest of the days we were invited to go to the dining
room, which is a seven-minute walk away, on the next street. For our family, these morning walks were not convenient. For this reason, we had breakfast in the room, having purchased breakfast the day before.
2 Smoking on the balcony, hanging things to dry was prohibited. Although the room was purchased with a balcony for these purposes. I think this point should be reflected on the website, or indicate that the hotel is not for people with this habit. In another case, make smoking areas on each floor, and not behind the hotel garden near the river.
3 We certainly did not live in bungaly , located near the pool of this hotel , but the guests who stayed there all complained of stuffiness and mosquitoes.

1. There is no toilet room in the reception area and the pool, this is the first time we have encountered this. To visit the restroom, you need to take the elevator from the pool to your room. Also, upon arrival, when the room was not ready yet, it caused inconvenience.
2. Parking is declared, but entry to it is not provided, unless the car can overcome a high curb. But even if he overcomes it, he will not be able to leave at the moment when he needs to, because the gates of the "parking lot" will be filled with other cars.
3. There were no breakfasts, although we deliberately chose the hotel so that we could eat in the morning and go on an excursion. Breakfast is sent to the dining room, a 10-minute walk along the dusty road over the bridge. The receptionist at the hotel gave a lecture that the "new dining room of the USSR" is not a dining room, but a five-star restaurant - it's funny and sad at the same time. The dining room is a real one, where you stand in line with a tray in your hands and where poorly heated semi-finished products are served. But it's not even the quality of this dining room, but the fact that if we were planning to have breakfast in such establishments, we would rent a room in the private sector, and not book a 4* hotel with a rooftop restaurant. And yes, in this dining room you could choose food for 300 rubles per person and pay extra for the rest. It will not be possible to understand how much a particular dish costs, since there is no price list, the cashier thinks as he wants, they do not give checks. We went to this dining room once. The hotel administration refunded us the money for the remaining days for breakfast at the rate of 300 rubles per 1 person. For information, in the nearby cafe Leon, a set breakfast costs 500 rubles without a drink. Why Grand Sukhum does not cook breakfast is confused in the testimony, then allegedly the Turks failed and did not supply the equipment, then the cook escaped according to another version. It is strange that these legends are composed and broadcast to the guests by quite adult people. To avoid conflicts, it is enough to inform guests before arrival that the kitchen will not work and, if the guests are not satisfied, refund the money for accommodation so that people can choose another accommodation facility where they will rest as planned, and not as the Grand Sukhum Hotel administration sees their rest.
It was the biggest mistake to book this supposedly one of the best Sukhumi hotels in the whole trip.
The hotel has no parking, the hotel has no view from any side and nowhere, you can look at the trash, you can look at the neighboring hotel or the old five-story building. The hotel does not have a safe, there is no hot water in the shower and the hatch in the bathroom falls out. The bathroom also lacks a shower door.In addition, upon arrival at the hotel at the reception, a very unpleasant man, it seemed to me that I owed him something, considering you to be the scum of society, he communicates with you extremely impolitely. I ordered a room with a double bed, going into the room I saw two and a half double beds, going down to the reception, I said that the room was not the same, they told me well, move the beds and it will be easy for you to have a double bed. And in general, we increased the room category for you just like that (we gave you a room for 3 sq m more).This was not all the adventures: the room was terribly dirty: the hair was in the bathroom, on the washed cups, there was dirt on the floor, the carpet was stained. The bed linen is all dirty, stained black and yellow. We were especially pleased with the rules, which indicate not to wipe cosmetics with towels and foundation, apparently they wiped their faces on the bed.

Is it really so difficult to provide not only for those who like to sleep softly, but also with spinal problems?!When I asked for another pillow in another hotel in N.Athos, it was brought to me in 10 minutes!The room was different, although I seemed to choose the same one..It was 5m less, but it was very noticeable.. Strange..and in other hotels, if you come for the second time, they give you some bonuses..But, apparently, not in Abkhazia..Oh, and the backlight, which did not turn off!In the shower, for some reason, it burned at night..It felt like you were in a morgue..Well, the cherry on the cake.Breakfast! Which was included in the price, took place on the roof, from where there was a stunning view of Sukhum.So, upon arrival, it turned out that the cook had disappeared there, and breakfast was moved to a cafe located 0.5 km from our hotel!In the morning, in the heat, stomp up to him and then pay extra for taking the extra..And as it turned out, anything could be superfluous, since they thought it was original, they did not give checks, and everything was exclusively in favor of the cafe.In general, the breakfasts were also paid..Well, in general, the hotel, which positioned itself as respectable and only for adults, has become even more with children screaming in the pool and adults drinking there..Well, maybe someone likes it, but I'll find a nicer one.

The owner of the hotel, though demanding, always meets you halfway. He gave us an excursion to hydrogen sulfide springs, for which I thank you very much. The hotel is in the city center, next to the embankment, where everyone walks. There is an ATM at the hotel. If you withdraw more than 3 thousand, then the commission is not charged, if less, then the commission is 150 rubles. regardless of the amount of withdrawal. The hotel staff is friendly. Everywhere in the city, you can make payments by transfer from your phone to a card, or through a terminal with Russian cards. Leon restaurant is across the street from the hotel. Have breakfast for three 1100 rubles. Dinner 2400 with beer - everything is delicious and satisfying, the portions are large. Also nearby is the dining room "New dining room", where it is cheaper to have lunch 1400 rubles (first, second and beer) for three and it is also delicious as for a dining room. We went swimming to Mocha beach - two stops from the hotel by minibus, bus (7 minutes drive), travel 15-30 rubles per person. There is a sandy and pebble beach. The beach is large, there are not many people, there are always free sun beds, but they are paid - 500 rubles. for 2 sun loungers with an umbrella for the whole day. There are bars on the beach, Wi-Fi. The water temperature was 26gr. I tried different beers, the best one is Sukhumi (150 rubles for 0.5, 80 rubles in the store). The price of fruits, oddly enough, as we have in Yekaterinburg - cherries 350 rubles / kg, this is a minus. The city itself is completely deserted (unlike Sochi, for example), except for the embankment, arboretum, beach, there is nowhere to go. But there are a lot of excursions. But good excursions cost from 4 to 8 thousand for three people.
We stayed at the hotel from March 8 to March 16, 2024. The Grand hotel left an exceptionally pleasant impression, the external infrastructure, a relatively new interior and a very pleasant, polite staff, where every guest will be welcome and ready to help solve any issue at a high level!
About the advantages:
1. We were very lucky with the helpful staff of the hotel. The receptionist Irina answered any questions we had (for example, where is it better to go for a walk, where to buy the necessary goods), solved any problems (there were no chairs in our room, kitchen appliances - a knife and forks to have a snack in the room). We also went on two amazing individual excursions with her: to Chernihiv, to the springs, to the Ritsa and to Gagra (Irina is not only an administrator, but also a wonderful guide who will tell you about the history and beauty of Abkhazia). We do not stop thanking her for her human attitude, help and hospitality!!!
2. The hotel itself cooperates with the company "Mayak-T", which provides a number of places to visit as part of a group.
3. I would also like to mention the work of the Flock administrator, who helped us with the heater (it was very humid and cold in the room on the first night of arrival).
4. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the sea, there are many places nearby (restaurants and cafes) where you can have a snack and a drink, there is also a bus stop and a beautiful promenade, a botanical garden and a monkey nursery. You can also climb Sukhumi Mountain to admire the beautiful views of Sukhum from a bird's-eye view.
5. Very nice view from the hotel, new room, clean bed linen, towels that were changed regularly. The maids work here with a bang.
6. The room itself has everything you need: a large TV with a huge selection of online cinemas for watching movies and TV series, Wi-Fi, refrigerator, cabinets and safe, stationary hair dryer, spacious beds, pillows on which you sleep like a baby after walks and excursions. There is also a tea station including a kettle, cups, spoons, tea/coffee, sugar. There are wine glasses and a corkscrew.
7. There is an ATM at the bottom near the reception where you can withdraw cash (without commission over 3000 rubles. - using the Tinkoff card).
Cons:
1. We had breakfast included, which were not provided to us. Apparently, this fact is due to the fact that we got into the off-season and no one organizes the kitchen for a couple of vacationers. The money for breakfast was returned to us, we had breakfast at the nearby Leon hotel-restaurant opposite (where they serve very tasty and hearty food from 8:30 to 11:30, we recommend it).
2. Unfortunately, the pool was not working, so we could not enjoy swimming. In the future, we hope that it will be heated and it will be possible to swim at any time of the year.
3. The lack of electricity and hot water in the period from about 13:00 to 15:00 was a little sad (in the off-season, such outages are on a permanent basis throughout Abkhazia). Moreover, in some other hotels, this problem with disconnection is solved by the presence of a generator.
4. One door in the bathroom was missing, so when we washed, we were always afraid that water would spill on the floor.
We wish prosperity and hope that in the future there will be as few shortcomings as possible. Thank you so much to all the administrative and management staff for our wonderful stay!!! We will definitely come back to enjoy this atmosphere of kindness and hospitality again!!!

I would like to change the manager, he behaves very ugly, in this situation, this gentleman threatened to evict us, since we do not agree with the refund amount! Conflicts are not being resolved, but only getting worse!

Bottled drinking water is not left in the room every day (although it may not be necessary - I did not find out).
The beach is 400 - 700 meters away. Shops and cafes are within walking distance. There is an embankment nearby.

We had a family vacation (5 people: 2 adults, 3 children) 09.07.2024 - 07/16/2024.
The impression of the hotel was spoiled by the "cottage" in which we were able to be accommodated. We "couldn't fit into the rooms in the main building."
Unfortunately, we could not evaluate the restaurant, as it was not ready "due to lack" of equipment during our stay, we had to go to the hotel opposite ("Leon"), their restaurant is very decent, I recommend it.
We travel by our own car, so having our own private parking was very convenient. Unfortunately, local residents often parked their cars right in front of the gate, preventing free passage.
The street itself is densely parked by locals, it is difficult to leave. Sidewalks are completely blocked in places by cafes and restaurants, construction sites, and you have to go out onto the roadway.
Check-in to the hotel is very fast. The staff is friendly, responsive, and solves problems quickly.
About the "houses" by the pool (lived in No. 8):
Positive: convenient location, right in front of the pool, its own "veranda".
Negative: well, very tired furniture, very tired plumbing, sagging bathroom door (because of this, it does not close). All the walls are in the cracks between the boards, the street is glowing. On the second floor there is a window without glass. Behind the houses there is a wasteland overgrown with weeds. Local mosquitoes from the wasteland enjoyed using it at night, they ate it. The air conditioner hung up repeatedly (also very tired), I had to ask for help every time so that it would be overloaded.
Daily room cleaning, there is a change of towels.
The pool is clean, not heated, sometimes it's cool to go in, but it's a matter of taste.

It's terrible!!!We moved to another hotel. In my entire travel history, this is the first time such an attitude has been shown to guests of my country and hotel. We rested with a friend for a week in early May, chose a hotel through a tour operator, because of the very convenient location, beautiful rooms and good reviews. The hotel is not cheap, but I really wanted comfort and safety. But the hotel manager has set his own rules for staying at this hotel. It turned out that the guests should sleep, walk until 00:00 if later, the doors will be closed. It was all monitored by cameras, it was clearly hinted at at the meeting, in general, if 2 girls came to rest, it means they will bring strange men to the room and everything else, which was just an outrageous lie. For our money, we felt like we were being watched by cameras and judgmental stares. As a result, we were literally told: "This hotel is not for people like you!" According to the owner, this hotel is exclusively for government delegations, and we are a mistake that came to them by accident. Moreover, there were a lot of empty rooms in the hotel, we did not meet any delegations in 5 days. As a result, we moved to another hotel at night, and the manager himself suggested it, after we told him that we might come after 00:00. This hotel is several levels below the Grand Hotel and no one has returned the difference in money to us.
If it weren't for the beautiful nature of Abkhazia, the sincere, helpful locals, the rest would have been ruined. Choose a hotel wisely, for such money the service is 0, there was no breakfast, which we were not warned about, the declared heated pool did not work.

The pool needs to be cleaned (green blooms can be seen from the window above). I frankly did not like the breakfasts (I simply did not find scrambled eggs), there are no air conditioners, transparent ceilings are heated from the sun. The staff is causal and polite.

The room itself has everything you need: a large TV, a huge bed with a magnificent mattress - this is the second plus, according to which we choose a hotel; safe, refrigerator, wardrobe, bedside tables. The room has comfortable bathrooms with all necessary accessories. I really liked the snow-white linen on the bed, soft pillows. I slept like a baby)))) room cleaning is daily and on request. It's very cozy. We liked the breakfasts. Regarding the restaurant, as I said, everything is delicious, special thanks for the dumplings with cottage cheese and cherry jam.But! There is a flaw. On the balcony near the tables, it is advisable to make either a canopy or put umbrellas. After all, it is so pleasant to eat food sitting on the balcony and at the same time in the shade))) and the morning sun does not give you the opportunity to enjoy it to the fullest. We checked in quickly, when we left we had to stay for an hour, which we were allowed, and also provided the opportunity to take a shower after the sea in a cottage located on the territory. About cottages, as far as I understand, they are not giving up now, but these buildings exalt their flavor, and can serve as a temporary accommodation place for guests: they arrived while they were preparing a room, you can put a suitcase and change clothes, and go to the sea, so this is a kind of lifesaver for the hotel, and a highlight. Also, at the exit from the hotel, I rented the room, settled in a cottage. It is advisable for hotel guests to do this for free.
Swimming pool: large, clean, there is a zone for children, include a Jacuzzi and fountains in the evenings, the water is warm, I heard that in winter water is suspected. There are sun beds and umbrellas along the perimeter, and there is a mini garden. Very cozy and beautiful territory. Another advantage is the location of the hotel. You will go left in a minute and you will find the embankment, beautiful, wide, with restaurants, a park, eucalyptus trees (air is a separate topic that I enjoyed in Abkhazia). You'll go to the right and come to the beaches. Near the hotel are the beaches of the sanatorium "Country of the Soul", MVO, 2.5 km from Mocha beach. There are shops, restaurants, cafes near the hotel, and the botanical garden is not far from the hotel. The hotel can offer guided tours.
About Abkhazia. The land of the soul, that's what they call it, and it lives up to its name! Beautiful, hospitable, kind! Sukhum is in my heart forever. I travel a lot. The embankment is a few minutes away, but it is quiet, the street of the hotel is blocked by barriers. The restaurant opposite, as we understood it, is a fashionable place, but this does not interfere, there is no music, no shouting, although the windows of our room looked out on it. We are currently resting at the hotel, the hotel is really good, but there is a very important thing, but the "heated pool" does not work all year round, or we were just so lucky, the hotel staff said that if you turn on the heating, the water will only heat up for 3 days. It's a shame, it was chosen precisely because of the pool.
The hotel was contacted in advance, but no one warned that the pool would not work.
In addition, we were also provided with the wrong room (standard instead of improved standard) that we booked. Since the reservation was made through WhatsApp, all the information in the correspondence is saved, but at the reception they said at check-in that "all our rooms are improved", but in fact there is a gradation of rooms on the website and the improved standard differs from the usual standard by the presence of a full-fledged balcony.
About the hotel itself. The location, the comfort of the hotel, the interior, the staff are really good. Modern renovation, clean rooms, air conditioning, underfloor heating in the bathroom, all appliances in the room are working, tea, coffee, water, bathroom accessories are provided. They change towels and do the cleaning.
Since only we rested at the hotel, we had a chance to talk with the owner, a very pleasant person, advised sights, restaurants and interesting places.

The only thing I didn't like was the breakfasts on the panoramic roof: eat and sweat, you dream of getting to your room as soon as possible. 2 stars only for the external component of the hotel, and even then, given the short-term operation of the hotel, it is strange to see cracks on the walls, flickering light bulbs, the smell of sewage in the rooms, etc.
And now the cons:
1) A huge minus is breakfast! Considering that the hotel is considered one of the best in Abkhazia, such a sad menu, and even more so not changing for 10 days, was a great surprise and disappointment. Oatmeal filled with boiling water without salt and sugar, more like an incomprehensible slush than porridge. Semi-finished products (pancakes with cheese, dumplings, etc.) are over-baked and tasteless from time to time! Desserts (stone cookies) that no one eats and at the same time the staff does not even think to clean them;
2) The hotel is completely unsuitable for children under 5 years of age. There are no children's chairs, no heated swimming pool (despite the fact that the water in the pool is always cold), no children's corners. At the same time, it is surprising that upon check-in at the reception, we were told with a smile that this is the best hotel in Abkhazia for a holiday with children.
3) Stock up on medicines, because if anything, there is also no first-aid kit in the hotel at all, why is that, I am very surprised ...
4) there is also no drinking water in the hotel, when checking in 2 0.5 bottles and then drink from the tap or boiled. I had to buy drinking water in supermarkets every day, because I couldn't find a cooler in the hotel either.
5) and finally, the attitude of the staff (with the exception of the cleaners - they are great fellows, good-natured and will always help if you contact them) is just depressing. They will not ask how they rest, upon departure only a sad "goodbye", neither "how did you rest", nor "did you like everything", etc. The hotel clearly does not shine with kindness and attention. Although it is probably possible to understand them, because every day when vacationers are "pestering" them about and for no reason, either the manager / director of the hotel (they did not fully understand).
This is how the Grand Sukhum 4-star Hotel appeared to us...

The hotel has a chic rooftop restaurant, all in white tiles and with a beautiful view of the city and a piece of the sea. It WOULD BE a great pleasure to eat there, but it did not work, allegedly the Turks did not bring equipment 😂
However, one day, we went up to this restaurant in the evening just to look at the city and saw that the whole kitchen was working perfectly and the locals, obviously the hotel workers, or the owner, were eating, there were 6 people and everything was perfectly set for them :) everything was prepared and everything worked.
Well, there were few vacationers in the hotel, apparently because of this, it is not profitable for the hotel to hire a permanent cook, waiters, etc. This is to be expected, because the hotel is under arrest (400 million) and a lawsuit is underway)) The owner is greedy. We pay 18k a day and we are not provided with the promised breakfast. In principle, the hotel was chosen in favor of breakfast, but they were very mistaken.
Instead, they are sent to the "new dining room" (which is a 15-minute walk(!) from the hotel for a second) and it is hard to walk in the heat. At the same time, breakfast is only 300 rubles 😂 this is carefully monitored and forced to pay extra if God forbid you took more.
There are no questions about the rooms, the maids are probably the best thing in this hotel.
And, even after 1:00 a.m. you will not be allowed into the hotel, these are the rules))) This is ridiculous. I'll attach their rules. Girls need to walk covered, roughly speaking with their heads down. Any eye contact with the opposite sex will be regarded as an invitation to get acquainted.
It is also forbidden to drink at the hotel, and you cannot swim in the pool at night. You can't drink or eat by the pool. Nothing is allowed, you will not feel freedom here.
The owner has a fat minus and shame for ruining such a beautiful hotel with his attitude and greed. In principle, karma has already arrived for him)) Since the hotel is under arrest

We got the first pleasant impression from the interior. The restaurant, which is open for breakfast (6th glazed floor), is something magical and adjusts to the right tourist mood in the morning. Everything in this place and nearby is beautiful, and the huge windows allow you to see the beautiful views. The rooms themselves are decorated in a rather restrained style, which pleases.
The location of this wonderful white building was also pleasantly surprised, because there are two beaches nearby, a magnificent promenade, green parks, a huge number of various cafes, restaurants, shops.
The service did not disappoint either: there were always kind and helpful workers at the reception, ready to prompt and help, the breakfast was led by the most hardworking and nimble girls who quickly cleaned dirty dishes and added new dishes, the maids cleaned the rooms so imperceptibly that at first we did not know about the daily cleaning, these bees also monitored the cleanliness of the snow-white nice towels and the most delicate linen.

The hotel definitely claims to be one of the best hotels in Sukhum. We had a rest in June 2022. Heated swimming pool with hydromassage compartments, with two children's areas. The rooms have everything you need, clean and comfortable. Good breakfasts in the hotel restaurant on the 6th floor with panoramic sea and city views. I liked the hotel, I definitely recommend it.

We had a vacation in August 2022, went to Sukhum by accident, because of my stupidity (the passport expired, but I did not know). We were pleasantly surprised.The hotel is fresh, in places so much that it is not finished yet)) But it's not scary, there are many hotels of a similar level in the whole of Abkhazia. Excellent, high-quality rooms, the area is more than enough for two. A good Buffet for breakfast, not big, but everything is there, everything is delicious, the breakfast itself takes place on the 6th floor with a panorama of the city and the sea, which is a huge plus. The territory is small, but well-maintained, the embankment is just around the corner, the center is also, the location is excellent, in a word. There are the slightest girls at the reception, the staff is trying, but there are still questions, we voiced them at the hotel, it's useless to write them here. We set five stars with a foundation for the future, if the hotel is brought to mind on all fronts and quality work is carried out with the staff, it will be one of the best hotels in Abkhazia. (P.S. it is almost impossible to find a hotel, in the insta it is signed as grand.sukhum.hotel, at the end of the official in my opinion. This is a hotel where the whole family of the owner is currently working. The staff is trying very hard to please. Unfortunately, not a single outlet worked in the room, the master was called, he seemed to do it and left. In the evening, they turned on the hair dryer - the outlet does not work again. For some reason, the bathroom and toilet are fenced with absolutely transparent glass. And no matter how you cover yourself with a curtain, you can still see the person inside. If it's 2 strangers in the room..., think for yourself, what an absurdity.
The food at the hotel is very simple, but delicious, the products, fruits and herbs are of high quality, from the market.
