Belarusian and Russian scientists have calculated that the center of Europe is located 48 km southwest of Polotsk, near Lake Sho (055+10'55" s.w. 28+15z0"w.d.). But the monument was erected in Polotsk and other coordinates are indicated. Unclear... It's not clear, but it's beautiful.

For the sake of visiting this place, I specially chose a day and took a minibus to the city of Polotsk from Minsk (a distance of 240 km)!
But it was worth it, because THIS IS THE REAL GEOGRAPHICAL CENTER OF EUROPE!!!
The coordinates are written on the memorial sign - you can check.
I recommend a trip - there is a monument to the letter "U with a hat" nearby, and nearby is the square with the WWII memorial, the beautiful St. Sophia Cathedral and the Museum of Local Lore in a historical building.

Although there are several other candidates for this place of honor in other countries, with coordinates calculated according to other logics, I vote for this center) And in general, the place itself is pleasant, a beautiful alley is good for walking.
