Great spot for a scenic walk connecting two iconic parts of Istanbul. You get wonderful views of both the Golden Horn and the historic skyline, especially during sunset. Locals line the bridge with fishing rods, adding to the charm. Just be ready for some crowds, especially on weekends.
Galata Bridge was a real discovery for us during our trip to Istanbul. A walk across the bridge is not only a great opportunity to enjoy the view of the Bosphorus and the historical part of the city, but also to experience the atmosphere of Istanbul to the fullest. It is always crowded here, and the fishermen on the bridge create a special atmosphere, attracting the attention of both tourists and locals.
The bridge separates two important areas of the city — Old Istanbul and Galata, and provides stunning views of the city from both sides. We spent several hours here, enjoying the views and delicious dishes in the cafe under the bridge. The perfect place to stop, take pictures and just relax while watching the life of the city.
Galata Bridge has become for us not just a tourist attraction, but a place where you can feel the true atmosphere of Istanbul — a dynamic, lively and multifaceted city
An iconic place for Istanbul, everyone who has visited this city has visited the Galata Bridge, a beautiful view of the Bosphorus, and you can have a delicious breakfast there (you shouldn't count on meat, and I don't recommend eating sausage, it's something inedible), a lot of cafes, you just need to look at the price tags, the same A Turkish breakfast can cost 700 lire for two, or maybe 1000 lire per person.
It's a very atmospheric place. We walked many times and watched fishermen catching horse mackerel. Historic Istanbul is magnificent at any time of the year. The New Year of 1919 was celebrated on the bridge. Goldfish cafe, altyn balyk.
I really liked it. Looking from the bridge at the celebrating Istanbul is unforgettable.
It connects two parts of Istanbul, the European and the Asian. Take a walk towards Galataport, where huge cruise ships can dock, very close to an excellent shopping center of good clothing brands. When passing from the Fatih district across the Galata bridge to the Karakey district, on the left along nondescript streets (similar to old street markets), you can find an excellent restaurant with the freshest fish and an interesting old place of a two-story manufactory building.
Galata Bridge is a drawbridge across the Golden Horn Bay in Istanbul. Located opposite the New Mosque.
The bridge is a two-storey structure: on the ground floor there is a walking area and restaurants, and on the second floor there is car and tram traffic.
The Galata Bridge overlooks the Golden Horn Bay, the Galata Tower, the Suleymaniye and Valide Sultan mosques, as well as Eminenyu Pier, from where boats, speedboats and ferries sail.
Eminenyu Ferry Pier is located next to the Galata Bridge, from here vapours depart along the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn Bay and the Asian part of Istanbul.
There are always a huge number of fishermen, you can also rent a fishing rod and fish yourself)
The views from the bridge are amazing.
I advise you to walk over this bridge at least once.
One of the attractions of Istanbul is the Galata Bridge, you can walk, watch the fishermen and just admire the beautiful Istanbul. On a fairly long bridge there is a main span, through which ships pass and two smaller ones, on which fishermen are located. The catch is different and it's a pleasure to watch everyone's success.
A cool place - the Golden Horn Bay and the Bosphorus Strait are immediately visible! You can see the opposite shore across the Bosphorus and other bridges over the Golden Horn. The Galata Tower is also visible. Magnificent view of the mosque. Ships are scurrying along the Bosphorus. The bridge itself is full of local fishermen who catch fish (both big and small). The atmosphere of a large sea city is felt)
It is necessary to visit
A historical place. Great views, great restaurants.. But the prices are not small. There are many fishermen on the bridge, both day and night. There is an alcohol market under the bridge closer to Eminu's berths. During the day, they make a delicious ekmek balik for 150 lire. It's worth taking a walk to see everything for yourself :)))
A picturesque tourist spot. The bridge consists of 2 tiers. The lower pedestrian zone consists entirely of Cafes and hookah bars. A great place to smoke a hookah, drink Turkish Tea and look at Vapura and the strait. There is an observation deck with a telescope. And most importantly, it's all in the shade if you're in a hot summer.
Great view of the Bosphorus. It's a very atmospheric place. Lots of fishermen. It is required to visit. Very beautiful and very authentic! Magnificent view of Galata Tower!
It was my first time in Istanbul, so I went for a walk. We reached this bridge with my wife, a lot of restaurants. All menus are 98% the same, the fine print in the menu indicates 15-20% service fee. They promise seafood dishes that have just been caught, not a fact, I'm not sure. We ordered fish soup and there were mushrooms, we ordered shrimp in a pot to understand what kind of dish, and there were mushrooms and some shrimp again. The photo in the menu differs from the real one. And the body reported a couple of hours later that they were there in vain. I do not recommend trying anything under the bridge in these pseudo restaurants
A good attraction in Istanbul, with lots of fishermen on the bridge and a good view of the surroundings. However, restaurants under the bridge with very "biting" prices, it's easier to walk aside and eat cheaper)
The bridge is beautiful and there are many cafes on the ground level.
Fishermen on the bridge have a local flavor, we dreamed of fishing like locals, dreams come true. We caught 4 kg of horse mackerel, an unforgettable experience.
One of the sights of Istanbul. Very nice view from the bridge. You get beautiful photos with views of the city. There are many fish restaurants under the bridge. Moreover, restaurants are cheaper from the Golden Horn))
An interesting place... There are a lot of fishermen, a lot of fish restaurants. Interesting atmosphere. You can watch the ferries and boats for a long time, which incredibly quickly turn around and scurry back and forth under the bridge...
It is impossible to avoid the Galata Bridge: it connects the historical part of the city with the more modern one across the Golden Horn Bay, and the main bus and tram lines run through it. And next to it are the berths of motor ships (an important view of the Istanbul seaport) going to the opposite, Asian side of the Bosphorus. The bridge is two-tiered: the lower level is full of restaurants, mostly fish restaurants, and on the upper level, at any time of the year, in the morning, afternoon, and evening, there are (almost shoulder to shoulder) amateur fishermen (I saw them here even on New Year's Eve)...
It's a cool place. There are a huge number of fishermen, and they catch fish and this fish becomes the stuffing of the Charm along the embankment. Very cool and yes, very tasty
We sat with my husband in a cafe overlooking the Bosphorus. Of course, the pleasure is not cheap, but it was worth it! The bridge itself is a two-tiered pedestrian bridge with a cafe at the bottom, a roadway and a pedestrian one at the top. There are always a lot of fishermen with fishing rods and fishing at the top. It's an interesting sight! It seems to me that this is a pastime of the townspeople in their free time. Well, the views are breathtaking!
The main thing in Turkey is not "all inclusive, where you can cut into balls," but History: Kumkapi-Constantinople-Istanbul-Galata-Il-Stiklal-Cistern (where the Gorgon Heads are), and most importantly- mosques of an all-Village scale.World History.
One of the sights of Istanbul is the Galata Bridge. An integral part of which are numerous fishermen on the upper tier and many cafes on the lower one. There are several platforms below that offer stunning views of Istanbul and the Bosphorus Strait.
The bridge is interesting
There are many restaurants on the lower tier
You can take a walk and see the beautiful views from both sides of the strait.
Restaurants are expensive, but you can go once.
Galata Bridge is a kind of business card Istanbul, spanned the Golden Horn Bay, separating it from the Bosphorus Strait. There is a lot of transport, people, fishermen. An attractive place. It's impressive.
You can see how local fishermen fish, there are a lot of restaurants on the ground floor, but the truth is not very cheap. Below, under the bridge, ferries and boats float back and forth. It's worth a visit, especially at sunset!
Galata Bridge is a drawbridge across the Golden Horn Bay in Istanbul. Located opposite the New Mosque. The bridge over the Bosphorus is a landmark in Istanbul. On both sides of the bridge there are cafes, restaurants, as well as piers from where pleasure boats leave.
Galata Bridge has left in our smartphones a huge number of photos with cool views of the Bosphorus and more))
You can walk both along the top of the bridge and down to the water, there are many cafes there.
And just hundreds of fishermen)))
If possible, be sure to take a walk along this bridge!
The Galata Bridge is a drawbridge across the Golden Horn Bay in Istanbul (it is built in extremely rare cases if necessary). It was built in 1994 and has a length of 484 meters and a width of 42 meters. There is a walking area and restaurants on the ground floor of the bridge, while car and tram traffic is carried out on the second floor.
There are a lot of fishermen on the bridge and it feels like it's not too clean. On one side there are public toilets, which give this place a steady glow of sadness.
It's nice to take a walk, see the views, the one-name tower, the fishermen, you can even eat in a huge number of tourist restaurants under the bridge, although I wouldn't stay there!
The place is interesting, the bridge over the Golden Horn Bay. Many fishermen are fishing from the bridge. And the lower tier is occupied by various cafes. In my opinion, the bridge does not represent any architectural value, but it offers a good view of both shores of the bay, the entrance to the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara.
The bridge is unique in its kind. A lot of fishermen catch fish from it (I was there on Sunday). There are many cafes below (under the bridge, except for the main part).
It's interesting to see...
The bridge that we walked on every day. There are great views of the city, a lot of fishermen, and a lot of restaurants on one side, but we didn't go in.
It's a beautiful place. Fishermen are fishing almost around the clock. Cafes sell it fried right there. Delicious, but expensive. And it constantly smells of fish and onions.
It's a great tourist destination, and it's great to walk there, especially if you have the iron will to resist the touts from local cafes and restaurants. If you show even a moment of weakness or indecision, that's it, write it's gone: you'll have to fork out a lot)))
Since this bridge connects two different parts of the city, you won't be able to get past it. Fishermen are fishing upstairs, and restaurants are located on the lower tier. There is a port next to the bridge from where ferries depart to other islands or for a walk along the Bosphorus.
Great views! Two-level transition. Restaurants are laid out on the bottom, as experience has shown, the price tag is 25-30% higher than in neighboring locations. There is a place to take photos. I just had a check-in.
The Galata Bridge, spanning the Bosphorus, is the only thing that makes it interesting for walking, after all, we do not often walk on bridges in warm countries, although of course it also serves purely utilitarian purposes, namely connects the shores of the rather large city of Istanbul, between the districts of which the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara stretch, rather a part the sea, but nevertheless...You can look at the pleasure boats with tourists passing under it and ferries with local residents and tourists crossing. On the lower tier of the bridge there are restaurants and cafes, quite decent, where you can try fish dishes. On the upper tier, it is quite possible to walk, go to the Galata Tower and look at the local fishermen, of whom there are many located on the bridge. I think the bridge is worth visiting by tourists, especially in the heat, it is quite pleasant to walk there, the breeze from the sea is pleasantly refreshing.
A purely tourist contrived object. The restaurants are super expensive, the food quality is average, the price tag is Michelin. Bazaar level maintenance
The place is certainly interesting, but it's better at night when there are no fishermen. Otherwise, you can't approach the railing from the crowd of fishing enthusiasts and the smell of fish is like at a fish market. For me, the view from the mosque is better and more interesting.
The bridge is quite dirty, there are a lot of fishermen, it's such a pleasure to walk on it, because it stinks of fish. If you walk along the lower floor, there are many restaurants there- the price tag is high, the barkers constantly distract from the walk.
It's a good place, if there is no strong wind, then there are quite a lot of people who take pictures. There are touts, I suggest you take a picture with a peacock.
Beautiful views, it was windy in April. There are many cafes on the lower level. From above, fishermen catch fish from the bridge. We haven't been to the cafe- there are a lot of people on the bridge.
Well, the atmosphere is peculiar, of course, especially the cafe under the bridge, everything seems to be fine, the only thing is dirty, but as a whole it's a very interesting place
