Galata Bridge was a real discovery for us during our trip to Istanbul. A walk across the bridge is not only a great opportunity to enjoy the view of the Bosphorus and the historical part of the city, but also to experience the atmosphere of Istanbul to the fullest. It is always crowded here, and the fishermen on the bridge create a special atmosphere, attracting the attention of both tourists and locals.
The bridge separates two important areas of the city — Old Istanbul and Galata, and provides stunning views of the city from both sides. We spent several hours here, enjoying the views and delicious dishes in the cafe under the bridge. The perfect place to stop, take pictures and just relax while watching the life of the city.
Galata Bridge has become for us not just a tourist attraction, but a place where you can feel the true atmosphere of Istanbul — a dynamic, lively and multifaceted city
An iconic place for Istanbul, everyone who has visited this city has visited the Galata Bridge, a beautiful view of the Bosphorus, and you can have a delicious breakfast there (you shouldn't count on meat, and I don't recommend eating sausage, it's something inedible), a lot of cafes, you just need to look at the price tags, the same A Turkish breakfast can cost 700 lire for two, or maybe 1000 lire per person.
Galata Bridge is a drawbridge across the Golden Horn Bay in Istanbul. Located opposite the New Mosque.
The bridge is a two-storey structure: on the ground floor there is a walking area and restaurants, and on the second floor there is car and tram traffic.
The Galata Bridge overlooks the Golden Horn Bay, the Galata Tower, the Suleymaniye and Valide Sultan mosques, as well as Eminenyu Pier, from where boats, speedboats and ferries sail.
Eminenyu Ferry Pier is located next to the Galata Bridge, from here vapours depart along the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn Bay and the Asian part of Istanbul.
There are always a huge number of fishermen, you can also rent a fishing rod and fish yourself)
The views from the bridge are amazing.
I advise you to walk over this bridge at least once.
One of the attractions of Istanbul is the Galata Bridge, you can walk, watch the fishermen and just admire the beautiful Istanbul. On a fairly long bridge there is a main span, through which ships pass and two smaller ones, on which fishermen are located. The catch is different and it's a pleasure to watch everyone's success.
The Galata Bridge, spanning the Bosphorus, is the only thing that makes it interesting for walking, after all, we do not often walk on bridges in warm countries, although of course it also serves purely utilitarian purposes, namely connects the shores of the rather large city of Istanbul, between the districts of which the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara stretch, rather a part the sea, but nevertheless...You can look at the pleasure boats with tourists passing under it and ferries with local residents and tourists crossing. On the lower tier of the bridge there are restaurants and cafes, quite decent, where you can try fish dishes. On the upper tier, it is quite possible to walk, go to the Galata Tower and look at the local fishermen, of whom there are many located on the bridge. I think the bridge is worth visiting by tourists, especially in the heat, it is quite pleasant to walk there, the breeze from the sea is pleasantly refreshing.
A cool place - the Golden Horn Bay and the Bosphorus Strait are immediately visible! You can see the opposite shore across the Bosphorus and other bridges over the Golden Horn. The Galata Tower is also visible. Magnificent view of the mosque. Ships are scurrying along the Bosphorus. The bridge itself is full of local fishermen who catch fish (both big and small). The atmosphere of a large sea city is felt)
It is necessary to visit
The same bridge that flashes in almost all Turkish TV series))) If you are in Istanbul, be sure to visit this bridge, and it is better to take a tour of the Bosphorus)) there are large excursion ferries for large groups, there are also small yachts)) It's very beautiful to look at everything from the water)) you can even see dolphins.. a separate aesthetic is the houses along the water))
A historical place. Great views, great restaurants.. But the prices are not small. There are many fishermen on the bridge, both day and night. There is an alcohol market under the bridge closer to Eminu's berths. During the day, they make a delicious ekmek balik for 150 lire. It's worth taking a walk to see everything for yourself :)))
Great view of the Bosphorus. It's a very atmospheric place. Lots of fishermen. It is required to visit. Very beautiful and very authentic! Magnificent view of Galata Tower!
It was my first time in Istanbul, so I went for a walk. We reached this bridge with my wife, a lot of restaurants. All menus are 98% the same, the fine print in the menu indicates 15-20% service fee. They promise seafood dishes that have just been caught, not a fact, I'm not sure. We ordered fish soup and there were mushrooms, we ordered shrimp in a pot to understand what kind of dish, and there were mushrooms and some shrimp again. The photo in the menu differs from the real one. And the body reported a couple of hours later that they were there in vain. I do not recommend trying anything under the bridge in these pseudo restaurants
One of my favorite places to walk is the sea, people, fishermen, cafes, motor ships) just stand on the bridge and look around) walk back and forth, See what the fishermen caught))) you can walk along the bottom, along the top, on one side, on the other) from both ends of the bridge and in the middle there are crossings to other sides.
An interesting place... There are a lot of fishermen, a lot of fish restaurants. Interesting atmosphere. You can watch the ferries and boats for a long time, which incredibly quickly turn around and scurry back and forth under the bridge...
An amazing place at the junction of Europe and Asia!! Realizing this fact makes your stay on the bridge an even more exciting experience! There are a lot of cool restaurants and cafes on the first level – the prices correspond to the hype of the place
A notable place, beautiful views of nearby areas and attractions. Near the port with a variety of boats, fishermen, a bunch of seagulls and cormorants and of course tourists)
The place is beautiful, there are many fish restaurants, but everything is designed for wealthy tourists with a tight purse))). If you have the money, then you will like everything. But you can do with a cup of coffee with a stunning view of the Bosphorus
There are always plenty of fishermen here. Fishing in the very center of Istanbul is such a vacation. There are a lot of restaurants under the bridge, but their prices are very high, and it is worth moving away from the bridge 100 meters and the same Dorado or Sea Bass can be eaten in a restaurant three to five times cheaper. But the view from the bridge is, of course, wonderful.
There are many cafes with quite tasty fish, the prices are the same as in other cafes in the area, but the view here is wonderful. After the meal, unlimited tea is brought for free, but immediately ask if there is a service and a discount
The main thing in Turkey is not "all inclusive, where you can cut into balls," but History: Kumkapi-Constantinople-Istanbul-Galata-Il-Stiklal-Cistern (where the Gorgon Heads are), and most importantly- mosques of an all-Village scale.World History.
Galata Bridge is a kind of business card Istanbul, spanned the Golden Horn Bay, separating it from the Bosphorus Strait. There is a lot of transport, people, fishermen. An attractive place. It's impressive.
One of the sights of Istanbul is the Galata Bridge. An integral part of which are numerous fishermen on the upper tier and many cafes on the lower one. There are several platforms below that offer stunning views of Istanbul and the Bosphorus Strait.
Galata Bridge is one of the most striking sights of Istanbul, which connects the European and Asian parts of the city. This unique bridge, 484 meters long and 42 meters wide, offers visitors unforgettable views of the city and the Golden Horn Bay.The upper level of the bridge is designed for traffic, and the lower one is completely pedestrian. Here you can enjoy the picturesque scenery, take beautiful photos and just relax after a walk around the city. The special atmosphere of the bridge is given by local fishermen who fish right on the bridge. Here you can also try fresh seafood in one of the many restaurants.Galata Bridge is a great place to visit both day and night. In the evening, the bridge is especially beautiful due to the bright illumination.Visiting the Galata Bridge is a great way to get to know the culture and history of Istanbul, as well as enjoy the beautiful views of the city.
An iconic place, a large number of places to eat and drink, and if you go up to the upper tier, along which cars are traveling, you will meet a huge number of fishermen, although I did not see any fish from them🤣🤣🤣
The bridge is like a bridge :) Connects the main street of Istanbul with the sights. Downstairs there are many fish cafes with exorbitant prices and, according to rumors, not the most delicious assortment. Beautiful views open to the Bosphorus and mosques. You will not pass by in any way. I recommend taking a walk on foot.
A very colorful place, a must-visit, and it will be very cool if you visit it at night, very good places for selfies, a very cool atmosphere, a large number of places to eat, a very beautiful panorama of the strait opens
It is a very beautiful place, however, as is the whole of Istanbul. You can walk at any time of the day, there are always a lot of people, fishermen and shoe cleaners))). There are cool cafes under the bridge overlooking the Bosphorus
It's nice to take a walk, see the views, the one-name tower, the fishermen, you can even eat in a huge number of tourist restaurants under the bridge, although I wouldn't stay there!
An iconic place in Istanbul. You can take the tram, but it's better to walk. It doesn't matter which way. If you go from the old town (Yeminomi), you can take a fanicular up to the Galatai Tower or to the Karokei pier and get from there to the eastern part of the city. On the other hand, the Egyptian market and the old town. As you walk, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and a lot of fishermen
It's a beautiful place. Fishermen are fishing almost around the clock. Cafes sell it fried right there. Delicious, but expensive. And it constantly smells of fish and onions.
it really stinks of fish, I don't know how you can sit and eat in cafes. on the second level of the bridge, fishermen stand along its entire length, catching some minnows, releasing small ones, and putting large ones in a tin can. from the first level, you can take pictures of jellyfish.
A bridge where you can walk from one area of Istanbul to another and eat on the way)))
Excellent fish cafes and restaurants. It's delicious, the smell of fresh fish is quite strong.
You can walk from the top without going into the cafe and look at the local fishermen
You're expecting something big. You can go and see it, BUT don't eat there at all! We took two dishes and drinks and gave away about 2500 liras and it was with a 50% discount! A real tourist place where they cook carelessly! One dish was too salty, and the second was so spicy that even the taste of the products could not be distinguished
A must-visit place in Istanbul. There are a lot of fishermen and cats on the bridge. The hubbub, the noise of the big city. An atmospheric place. Only there you can take street fish bureks. There are many fish restaurants with delicious fresh fish. The fish market. There are many attractions near the bridge, so you definitely can't pass by..
In truth, the center. The geographical and historical of Istanbul, and indeed the rest of the world, without exaggeration. It is from this point that you can walk to any landmark, be it. Strolling street, tower, historical center. It includes a bazaar and mosques. And where it is impossible to walk, there is a convenient interchange in the form of a subway tram or ferry crossing.
A bridge connecting the eastern and western parts of Istanbul! It has both a pedestrian and a car part. There are cafes and restaurants on the lower level!
The place is certainly interesting, but it's better at night when there are no fishermen. Otherwise, you can't approach the railing from the crowd of fishing enthusiasts and the smell of fish is like at a fish market. For me, the view from the mosque is better and more interesting.
Beautiful view of the city from the bridge. There are a lot of people on the bridge. The locals are fishing. There are restaurants on the lower tier of the bridge
The bridge is beautiful, or rather not even the bridge itself, but the views that open up to the viewer. There are fishermen with their fishing rods and cafes immediately selling that fish. And you can see both shores and it's nice to walk. My advice is not required here, of course it's a great place.
A beautiful clean bridge, restaurants under the bridge. There are a lot of fishermen on the bridge. Shoe cleaners are sitting. You can take a boat ride for 150 liras. On Sultanahmet Square, the same thing is offered for 20€. A colorful object.
It's a fun place where fishermen catch fish on empty hooks and immediately sell the fish. There is very little room for passersby to disperse. From the bridge there is a cool view of the water where boats scurry back and forth. There are many cafes under the bridge.
A cool place both in terms of the panorama opening onto the shores of the Golden Horn and in terms of numerous restaurants and cafes. Public transport stops and ferries are conveniently located nearby , there is a lot of delicious street food in the surrounding areas .
By itself, the bridge does not look like a landmark. A squat bridge with a bunch of fish cafes/restaurants at the bottom.
A transport hub, yes, but a landmark, no.
Noisy, there are stalls and cafes downstairs. There are a lot of fishermen on the bridge. It is here that you can buy the famous fish in lavash. Beautiful view on both sides
Istanbul would not be so interesting without this bridge, pedestrian two-storey, many restaurants, an interesting place to walk, eat, admire the sea and feed the seagulls.
A very nice bridge. It's interesting to walk around it. Beautiful view of Basfort. There are a lot of local fishermen on the top, catching small fish. There are restaurants at the bottom of the bridge, you can sit and admire the beauty and have a delicious meal (but not on a budget).
The only feature of this bridge, apart from the beautiful views, are the restaurants under the bridge, which is unusual. The kitchen is not bad by the way)
An interesting place. There are a lot of fishermen on the upper level, catching horse mackerel and mullet. On the lower level there are restaurants where you can have a good snack. The prices are very affordable. I recommend.
