A great place to relax. There is a beach for swimming, sandy, without rocks with moderate waves, safe. On the other side of the hotel, turtles swim into the bay, they can be fed. There are many chipmunks, monitor lizards, and large snails on the territory. The staff is polite, pleasant, helps to solve all issues. But there is a nuance - they speak Lankan and English. The rooms are cleaned daily and water is brought. Of the cons: the rooms have tired plumbing.But it didn't matter to us. There are enough sun beds on the beach for everyone. There is a fairly large swimming pool on site. Small gym, spa. The entrance to the beach is closed at night, the pool is also open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. I definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

The Dickwella Resort And SPA was vacationing in early October 2024.
A small but well-maintained territory, friendly staff. There is a swimming pool with sun beds and umbrellas in sufficient quantity. But the biggest advantage of this hotel is its location on the cape of the island, where on one side there is a lagoon with sea turtles and a calmer ocean, and on the other side there are waves for lovers of extreme sports and windsurfing.
The chipmunks and small monitor lizards scurrying around the territory are touching.
The food in the restaurant is varied, and the ocean views are simply wonderful.
We took a two-day tour "Pearl of Sri Lanka" from a tour operator. We were very satisfied. Everything is clearly organized - there are no expectations anywhere. Everything is according to the program - sights, flora and fauna, and even more, thanks to the kindness of the guides.
I highly recommend this hotel to stay in, and Sri Lanka as a whole to visit because of its unusual nature, history and culture.

I want to share a wonderful vacation in Sri Lanka. We were there for the first time and the whole family fell in love with this beautiful country. We flew from Moscow with a transfer to Colombo, we drove to the hotel for about 4 hours, because tourists were brought along the way, it took 3 hours to drive! We stayed at the Dickwella Resort and SPA 5* hotel from February 13 to February 22. I recommend this hotel to everyone. Beautiful protected area. The rooms are very cozy, located in two-storey bungalows in a traditional Sri Lankan style. Large family rooms with a second floor. The meals were for breakfast/dinner, everything was delicious. They didn't stay hungry. There are many different dishes, the national cuisine is spicy. Alcohol is paid, cocktails are about 600 rubles. A bottle of wine is about 1500-2000 rubles, and there are more expensive ones. We bought it at dinner. they offer to buy a bottle right away and leave it for the next evening. I wanted more variety of fruits. Ice cream in the evening every day. We had lunch at the hotel once, it was delicious, and there was ice cream too. A great chef, always came up, asked if everything was delicious, as we like it here. If there were any questions, he would immediately solve them. I had a dinner with fresh seafood, everything was delicious!!! Live music at the bar in the evening.
Bottles of water are brought to the room every day, there was enough water, I took a bottle of water from the room to the children for dinner, no one said anything. The cleaning is normal, we were cleaned in the evening, sometimes we refused to clean, asked to take out the trash and change towels. There were mosquitoes, ants, and we brought our own sockets, because we need a lot of them and we bought them a long time ago so that we could always travel. Slippers were requested upon check-in.
We went to various cafes within walking distance for lunch. There are many cafes outside the territory along the beach where you can have a snack at lunch. I can't recommend a specific one, but seafood is everywhere and incredibly delicious and fresh.
The ocean is generally a fairy tale, I chose a hotel specifically for comfortable swimming, where you can swim without waves. On the beach next to the hotel, right by the breakwater, you can swim safely, if you go to another beach and walk to the very end, the ocean will also be calm, and even the turtles will come. You can sit in a cafe, local touts will specially bait the turtles and you can swim with them. There are 4 turtles, they all have names. we saw 3. We went in the morning and spent almost the whole day.
There are waves, of course, you can jump, the water is clear and very warm. I don't want to get out of the water.
In February, the weather was very comfortable, although the sun is very hot, but if you apply cream, you will not burn out. The sun every day, not a single cloud, a light sea breeze. There was no rain.
We went on a 2-day excursion. I found it in IG. Through a more expensive tour operator. It's hard on the road, because the distances are huge, but such amazing places. In general, the island is very green, the people are friendly, there is no dirt like in India. Tea plantations are just a delight! Endless green fields. We bought tea at the factory. It's not cheap. We also went for tea on purpose. Souvenir shops are reluctant to bargain. But they are slightly reducing the price of souvenirs.
In the markets, feel free to bargain. When you go by tuk-tuk, bargain too. We went on our own to the nearest temple, one of the best temples of the Buddha.
There are touts on the beach next to the hotel, they offer guided tours. Vasa, a middle-aged man who speaks Russian fairly well, came up to us and offered to go on an excursion with him. Every day, when we went to the beach, he showed us where it was better for the child to swim. As a hotel guide, Vasya, you can ask any question. He will tell you everything and recommend you. Unfortunately, there is no phone. I offered a day tour of the island, I think there are others, they were not interested) Feel free to go, but bargain))))!A comfortable minivan, shows the sights and talks in Russian! We went with him to the Gala and to the turtle farm, he offered to ride along the river and look at the small crocodiles, we didn't have enough time, we specially went after lunch to walk around the Gala.
The SIM card was bought at the airport for 100GB and 10 bucks, but I don't know the price for 20GB. The money was changed at the airport, the exchange rate is 293 13.02. At the jeweler's hotel, the exchange rate is much lower. If you go to the Gala, ask Vasya, he will show you a good exchanger.
If you want to learn how to surf, go to the big beach. On the left there is a surf school and Dumo cafe, which costs 5,000 rupees.
It is better to go to Matara for souvenirs, there is a large Buddha temple, on the way you can stop at the lighthouse or buy in Gal, there are few and expensive shops in the village.
In general, Sri Lanka is a vacation for every taste. The places are all beautiful. We are very happy to be here. The children are happy, and that's the main thing. In the summer we want to go to the other coast. The nature here is wonderful, there are many attractions. We are staying at the hotel at the moment. The location of the hotel is excellent, as many reviews have already written. It 's a little dirty in the bathroom . Honestly , the peeling plumbing and walls didn 't bother me... but it wouldn 't hurt to wash . The TV was constantly breaking down ... and since we caught the rotavirus there , I was dying for 3 days , I wanted to watch . Shampoo and soap were forgotten to replenish . We found a way out - we bought them ) and at the same time a toilet sanitizer gel... the refrigerator only worked as a freezer. There is a very steep staircase in the family room. The daughter flew upside down , slipping… Everything was almost fine, except for the big bruises. Lizards and spiders 5-6 cm in size crawl on the walls.
The territory is very nice and well maintained. Beautiful beach and sun beds on the grass. On the other hand, there is also a good beach with huge turtles that you can swim with and watch with a mask . There are cafes nearby where you can eat …
Most of them, as I understand it, take breakfasts or HB. You can quickly take a tuk tuk to a supermarket or souvenir shops, or drive to a temple with a large Buddha. 500 rupees round trip and wait .
A profitable exchange of rupees at the airport . Back to duty free, everything is in dollars. Rupees are either not accepted , or at a very unfavorable exchange rate. They are trying to cheat in the tea department ( they say one rate , they click on the calculator at a different rate ) alcohol in duty is very expensive and only for dollars .
On excursions... we borrowed from a tour operator . It's pretty expensive, but we didn 't take any chances ... maybe in vain ... we were taken by bus , where the knees are removed ... and the fun sun guide begs for a tip , saying what small salaries they have with the driver ... the tour is stops at attractions , trains , shops , where the guide records how much you bought for yourself... and safari, where you can see animals from afar (if you don't have binoculars, there's nothing to do there)
A lot of people come in minivans, it's better this way... you get exhausted in 16 hours
The second time in Sri Lanka, I will plan my vacation in a different way. First experience )

We returned from Dickwella a couple of days ago. Impressions are a fairy tale!
The country is amazing!
About the hotel - very quiet, original, cozy. Not for fans of parties and parties, but rather for those who appreciate privacy, silence, loves to enjoy the beauty of nature and knows how to occupy themselves.
The rooms are quite simple. Everything you need is there. Each room has a kettle and a daily replenished set of tea, coffee, and sugar. The coffee is disgusting, Nescafe. Coffee lovers will be hard pressed, there was no normal coffee in the vicinity.
I advise you to take an adapter with you, otherwise you will not be able to use electrical outlets. there are no Russian-language channels on TV, but we took a laptop with us and watched movies in the evenings - the Internet works fine on site, the speed allows you to watch anything online.
The room is cleaned daily, without complaints. We took only breakfast, had dinner at Irina's on turtle beach. The restaurant has no special miracles, no frills, but it's delicious. The pool is perfectly clean!
I advise you to take rooms on the second floor - a stunning view of the ocean and sunset is provided.

I 've been to many places , but this is just a heavenly place, if you are a connoisseur of beautiful nature , kilometer-long deserted beaches , clean warm water , tranquility and relaxation - you are here. Friendly staff, good food. Yes, there is a slightly tired room stock , but everything works and everything is decent . And to pay attention to such little things when you have an ocean in front of your balcony.... In general, Sri Lanka opened up to me as a place where I want to return. Great hotel. We took a two-storey room because there are 4 of us with children. The room is good, but as it was said earlier, a little under the tired number background, but everything worked and the Ocean was 10 meters away, which is also very good (we didn't even take things to the beach, we went in swimsuits right away). We had breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is normal, dinner is very good. There were fruits, ice cream and meat with fish in a large selection. For lunch, we bought fruits in neighboring shops (for tuk tuk 500 rupees there and back) or went to the excellent Sea Point cafe (the portions are good and the price is excellent). We swam in the Pool in the evenings, very hot and normal in size)))) The employees are always smiling and always ready to help. Have a good rest, everyone. I will definitely go back there again.

We were vacationing with a family of 3 people. August 2023. Wonderful place, great beach, very good location. The hotel is cozy. It's not noisy at all. During our two weeks at the hotel, we got to know almost everyone. This suggests that there are not very many rooms and not very many people. A great place to relax your soul is calm.
But there is still a fly in the ointment in this barrel.
I strongly advise against taking an all inclusive package to this hotel. It's called: Not everything is included. This is the first time I've met a hotel where they don't give bottled water in the bar. Although I have been traveling for many years. This is the first time I've met a hotel where at lunch you are offered one drink (wine n-r) per person, maybe it's translation difficulties, I don't argue. But either you only drink beer. Or one drink per person. This is not all inclusive. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were informed that your rate starts at 19:00! I see this for the first time, although they settled right away without waiting for 14:00. Only after calling the manager at the travel agency, the guide ran to us and said that you can go to lunch. Although we didn't really want to. But the situation spoiled the impression.
We specifically took the family room, all rooms in this category are listed as sea view, so there is one! the building, which is located sideways to the ocean and there is no sea view from it. That's where they put us! We have enough, an expensive ticket, again all inclusive, and, judging by the bracelets, there are very few such tourists, two or three pairs. There was a building next to us with a sea view, and there were rooms available, we saw that, but for some reason they settled either locals or foreigners there, but not Russians. It smacks of discrimination. It really spoiled the impression. Moreover, we contacted the reception with a request to change the room. We were told that everything was occupied, although the family rooms were available.
There is also a beach bar, but it is only paid. I had to go to the main bar for drinks, he's the only one here. For 4 stars, it's a little weak, of course, confident 3 stars, and then on a "breakfast only" ticket. There was a situation when titanium was removed from dinner so that people could brew tea and coffee for themselves, and only after tourists began to be very indignant, as it was indicated in the description that there was tea and coffee for breakfast and dinner, the titanium was kind of returned to its place. Again, we tried to save money. Moreover, when there were local titans present. Russian russians are mostly at dinner, but mostly Russian tourists are here for the rest.(locals come on weekends, or on holidays) they tried to remove the titan. That is, again, discrimination against Russians! It's very stressful.
If there are no local vacationers, then lunch should be ordered in the morning. That is, it is no longer a buffet: they bring you a menu of 2-3 dishes to choose from, and you tell them what you will eat at lunch. Well, that is, it is also not quite all inclusive again.
There was a holiday at the time of our stay and drinks are not sold or served on this day, including in hotels! But for some reason no one warned us about this, that is, we had 1 day at all, without alcohol. And everything is paid for! Although we are not particularly non-drinkers and we had a supply of duity free with us, but this also upset us. If desired, it was possible to resolve this issue. Alcohol is strictly prohibited in the UAE, but hotels somehow circumvent this situation.
I'm not going to talk about furniture. The interior of the hotel is all the little things. Although for whom as. Well, they still play their part. In general, the savings of the hotel owner look on the face, and this is very frustrating. Once again: maybe trips with "breakfast only" are normal. Although it gets dark very early, it's already dark at 6 o'clock, and going out to dinner in such darkness? Well, I'll tell you what, it's not for the faint of heart. The roads are very narrow and cars drive fast. But all our tourists did not complain about it. People in Sri Lanka are very good-natured, smiling, friendly!
But the hotel staff is beyond praise, ranging from gardeners, workers and ending with waiters, bartenders. Everyone is very conscientious about their work. They are constantly painting and repairing something. Our air conditioner failed several times, and it was repaired very quickly. On the beach, an employee will immediately bring you a mattress, fix the chaise longue - well done. Drinks are also brought quickly at the bar. They clean the plates very well, well done beyond praise. Animation, of course, is weak, so to speak, although volleyball, darts, aqua aerobics, please. In the evening, there were several live music and discos. But the animator is also trying. On the other hand, animation is not so important here. It is here that you rest your soul: quiet and peaceful.
Well, anyway, it seemed to me that there are more advantages than disadvantages, there is something to work on, I mean the owner and the management of the hotel, but everything is saved by the location and many indicate this in the reviews. Although the location is still not the merit of the hotel.

We enjoyed our vacation in January.
A nice cozy hotel, there is a different sea on both sides , you can see where the waves are and where it is quite calm (you can clearly see how it is on the map))
There is a place to walk along the beach to the turtles 😍
The nearest town, supermarkets , banks, fruits are within walking distance.
The hotel is certainly not new, but the linen is clean , the territory is well maintained.
We chose it ourselves for a very long time and did not regret that we rested here.

A great place not for 5* lovers in Turkey. The hotel is washed by the ocean from 2 sides, the entrance to the ocean is convenient, the beaches are gorgeous, turtles swim on one of them, there are a lot of animals on the territory of the hotel, geckos live in the rooms, chipmunks, iguanas, monkeys run around the territory. The children were absolutely delighted! Very good-natured staff, all issues were resolved instantly. It should be borne in mind that the standard room is too small for a family with 2 children, there is 1 large bed and 1 small one in the room, the second one was hardly put up because it was not the season and many rooms were not occupied, and there is practically no animation for children. The food at the hotel is wonderful! Everything was very tasty, although the choice of dishes was small. Overall, it was our best vacation with children! Everything was fine, I really want to come back here!

We arrived at the hotel at 4 p.m., the room was not ready, we waited two hours in the heat, it turned out that the hotel decided to earn money and charged the previous guests for late check-out. An amazing hotel, in a wonderful, very beautiful place. It is very beautiful and cozy. The service is beyond praise: daily room cleaning, the bed is changed daily, the room smells very good, furniture with a local flavor creates a special atmosphere.

The beaches are gorgeous. There is enough food for breakfast. Dinners are all with spices, keep this in mind when traveling.
Today ruined the whole impression.

We were in May 2023. The location is good, the ocean is warm, 2 beaches, one with waves, the second for swimming, there are turtles. The breakfasts are monotonous, but delicious, there are fruits, omelets, pancakes, sausages. We went to lunch and dinner, you won't be hungry, but without enthusiasm. They give fish, shrimp, rice, pasta, salads are not tasty. There are not many sweets, but there is something to drink tea with. The staff is very friendly, all rooms are very simple. We were bitten by sand gnats, so take repellents and ointment after bites, the itching is severe. It's sparsely populated, and everything is good for an ordinary family holiday. You can buy coconut on the beaches.

The hotel is not bad for unassuming guests. Monitor lizards, squirrels, monkeys jump on the fence live on the territory. The staff told me that they caught a cobra on the territory, so I recommend looking at your feet and not walking on the grass, especially a draw, you never know what! If you want beautiful deserted beaches, then this hotel is for you. I liked the hotel from the first visit, we visited it twice, the food is not very diverse, but you will not stay hungry.They constantly bake all sorts of pancakes, national buns, juices only natural from local fruits, local dishes are specific, they are located separately in the dining room. The service is without problems, everyone is friendly, they smile, if you don't like the room, they change it quickly. The location is the main feature of the hotel, the combination of rocks and the Indian Ocean is amazing.

Great hotel.We were there from August 31 to September 11. I liked the food, the economy room stock is a little tired, but they are cleaned every day.They try to eliminate all the shortcomings at once. The territory is large, and the ocean and beaches are simply gorgeous.One with turtles and calm, the second wave for the series, but we jumped on them and enjoyed, do not delay.It was out of season, heavy rains, the sun saw everything.And what a rich animal world in the hotel:chipmunks, monkeys, monitor lizards, even saw a small snake (of course, we were not happy with it)))).We took an excursion from the tour operator to the center of the island for two days.We were absolutely delighted. Great location. Turtle Beach. 3 buckets. It's better to swim just not from the city, dirty water. On the other hand, perfect clean water, shoals of fish, carefully sea urchins.

Room 36 superior on the 2nd floor is large, with a direct view of the ocean and the evening sun. The canopy. Large balcony. Conday. A small refrigerator in the bowels of an old buffet))). Kettle, hair dryer, soap. There are no slippers and bathrobes. I.e. these are not European 5*. There's no latch here, it's padded. Everything is OK if you are not looking for movement, but relaxation. The town is nearby, but do you need to go there)). there are tuktukers at the gate of the hotel, for reasonable money they will take you to different beaches and temples in the area. We returned six months later, changing the review from 5 stars to 2.
The owners of the hotel have changed.
As a result:
1. The service has become at the level of Crimean "hotels", there is little left of friendliness.
2. Breakfasts and dinners have become worse.
3. The guards stopped letting taxis into the parking lot, arguing that they were in the way.
4. Beach fights have intensified and are practically climbing over the fence to sell tours.
5. Security at the exit to the shore has also become more active, but for the worse - now they are forced to leave towels on the territory of the hotel, which was not the case before
As a result, I do not want to return here at all, but only a year ago it was said well here.

We had a rest in November 2023. The rooms are old, but cozy. At first they settled in a house near the pool. As it turned out, the air conditioner did not work. After two complaints at the reception, by nightfall, they were moved to a wonderful room with a view and access to the sea. The houses, especially on the 1st floor, are very comfortable. The staff is polite and helpful. The food is a bit monotonous and highly peppery. If you go with children, there is nothing to eat except pasta (pasta). Little by little we figured out the food, found our own and life got better. We ordered lobster, octopus and fish. Cooked delicious. Nearby, along the shore, there are cafes. We chose Mahi-Mahi. Delicious seafood, and the portion also includes French fries, rice and salad. Very tasty. Nearby is Turtle Bay. You can admire and feed, it's cool. The hotel is located on the spit and it turns out that on the one hand you can swim, and on the other you can jump on the waves or surf. The view is certainly fabulous. We liked it.

Upon check-in, they gave the number -2, after 8 days of arrival and replacing the number -2 the next day, I tell everyone with confidence - these are the most terrible numbers 2/3/4! Upon arrival, ask for everything above this room stock! The hotel was built in 1981 ! The rooms are all old and for those who only need to spend the night! Food for 4 with a minus, everything is like everywhere else in Asia for an amateur! Prices for alcohol and sea products and fruits are overpriced! Shrimp for our money 700-800 rubles, per kg., fish (different) - the same prices! In restaurants and cafes, prices are even higher! 3- stars for the gorgeous location and nature!
