Vitebsk City Hall is the real heart of the city. The town hall owes its appearance to Magdeburg law, a special law that gave cities self-government. The first attempt at wooden construction in 1597 ended with the destruction of the town hall. The modern building built in 1775 is the beautiful town hall that we see today. This is a rare example of a harmonious blend of two styles: restrained classicism can be seen in the strict design of the main three-storey building and refined Vilna Baroque can be seen in the elegant multi-tiered tower, which makes this silhouette so recognizable. The Town Hall has long been used as a fire tower, hence the building's popular name and the observation deck above. Since 1923, the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore has been located within the walls of the town Hall, the building continues to live an active life, pleasing and admiring the citizens and guests of Vitebsk.

You can climb the town hall every hour, the stairs are steep with narrow openings. The view from the top is incredible, the city is in full view, very beautiful! On the way back, we visited the Museum of photography, where cameras of different generations are presented.

Beautiful observation deck, gorgeous views. And excellent guides. Somehow I got tired of walking just like that, without a purpose, I went to find out about the excursions. As a result, a wonderful guide (unfortunately I forgot the name) went for a walk with our company of 2 adults and 3 children, took them through the center, told them everything in a very interesting and accessible way for children, in one breath. The price was very reasonable for such a walking tour.
