this is the place where you feel at home . We stayed here in October-November 2025 and will return here many, many more times . The cuisine is divine, I advise you to try octopus, potatoes with shrimp and PORRIDGE!! A "rice and curry buffet" and a barbecue evening are held every week. Mafia evening, quiz shows, discos, concerts, board games and just a cool company are here !! the place itself is a crazy vibe. everything is simple, but with taste and comfort. the rooms have everything you need. The staff is a separate love. It feels like you've known each other for a million years :) the ocean is across the street. Tuk tuks are always hanging out nearby, so getting somewhere is not a problem. they will tell you everything and help you with everything. a cool guide to the top places on the south coast has been thrown off. there are also various excursions (from yacht parties to safaris) , the coaches are professionals in their field, special thanks to Anya. You will leave here with a great love for surfing and Sri Lanka . Thank you for such a wonderful place!!!❤️ Come, you won't regret it!!!

I should immediately note that this is a review specifically about hotel accommodation. There were New Year's Eve and January holidays. The key drawback is that you won't be able to get enough sleep. I do not know if there is music all year round around the hotel or not, but from our room every day until 3-4 in the morning it was possible to "enjoy" the bass. There was no sound insulation in the room either, so the audibility is excellent. Separately, about New Year's Eve - it's great, of course, that the hotel wants to make money from events, but not to the detriment of the residents? A rooftop where NG was celebrated right above the room. You may not go to the party, but the party will still be with you - rattling the walls until 6 a.m. In my opinion, residents should have a choice of how to spend the night, since you charge money for it. Then, upon request, they moved to another building, where it's quieter, but it's also not ideal there - at night dogs run around the hotel and howl loudly, in the morning you hear the lessons on the ground floor from about 8 a.m. Another disadvantage is that in the first room there was a tired air conditioner, which sometimes makes noise, then randomly changes the temperature, it clearly needs to be updated. There were problems with the laundry - it was made a couple of times with permanent stains. (Why such laundry is not thrown away is a question) Among the advantages: + Delicious dishes in the restaurant. + Great surfing instructors + All available surfing equipment + first line, ocean across the street Conclusion: this is the place for you if you plan to hang out all night long (or if you sleep well in any conditions) But if you want to get enough sleep, or if you're just a light sleeper, choose another place to stay, and come surf and eat delicious food at Surf's up.

As a surf school, it's quite good, more positive impressions. But don't stay here, God forbid, the hotel is 3 stars, they can move into a block where Mega-bass music is playing at night from neighbors until 3 a.m. and no one will do anything about it, and at 7 a.m. you have to go to class :) For many additional services from the hotel, large overpayments, super overprice excursions, so that it's better to do everything yourself and not overpay for Russian Vibe

A place that has a soul I usually write reviews about how stylish/beautiful/delicious/clean I felt, or how something went wrong. And here I want to write about how GOOD it was. The trick of this place is to have stylish interiors or delicious food, although this is also available, of course. Surf's up is primarily about PEOPLE - those who work here (from administrators and instructors to waiters) and those who come here (because something like this attracts something like this). Generous, open, smiling, interested and interesting, responsive, deep. Thank you to everyone for the atmosphere that exists in this place and which is very difficult to describe in words except as "warmth in my heart. " P.S. We were there for a week in August 2023. The ocean is across the street, but it was in front of the hotel that algae constantly floated. A smelly river flows into the ocean nearby. We chose this hotel because the rental of surf and all equipment plus one workout per day (with a Russian coach) were included in the price. Although, as it turned out later, there are both rentals and local trainers on the beach in abundance. But we didn't have much time - we didn't want to waste it on searching and trading. The breakfasts are small, but high in calories - enough until lunch. The prices in the hotel cafe/ bar bite - we ended up going to local eateries (all the food is very spicy), and we bought fruits at the local Pyaterochka, which is nearby. The rooms were clean, there were no scary insects, the tap water was normal, the Wi-Fi was weak - it was better to catch on the ground floor. There are evening dances, movies for surfers, yoga every other day. There are excursions around the island for an additional fee. I removed one star for the fact that some coaches use training sessions to ride themselves, and clients seem to pass by. It's cheaper to arrange a transfer in a special chat in a cart, but look for the driver carefully and set the time with at least an hour (preferably two) to spare, since locals live without clocks at all and are always late. In our case, only the first transfer was included in the room rate - we were unpleasantly surprised to learn about it on the eve of departure. The cart will help you.

A great place if you decide to try surfing or you need to progress and develop further! Very convenient location, there is all the necessary equipment, lockers for storing things. Thank you for a wonderful birthday, and a trip with Surf's up, the guys Dima, Serge, Chandu , Dato , and everyone who was just surrounded. It's great that the cafe has dishes for every taste, including those adapted for our stomachs, who are not used to spicy food, you can safely feed the children. The atmosphere is pleasant, you feel at home, I could stay for several hours, just because it's convenient, delicious, cool, comfortable. I managed to get to know the guys at the events. How magical are the people around me ? One guy, Daniel, in the mafia game, "killed" my son. And how cool is he that he got uncomfortable and decided to transfer money to me for the game. Despite what I said right away, it's a game, everything is OK. I really liked Masha at yoga, it felt like she was just there for everyone. During the whole class. I thank Coach Dato, he worked with both me and my son. My 10-year-old Egor, who loved surfing, went to every class with pleasure. Oh, I watched how well Dato worked with his son, keeping security under control, helping him by teaching him in a playful way, even more than I expected. Classes with me were held in a positive way, where I felt safe, living the full range of my emotions, and the coach seemed to know where to give me more independence, and where he helped and supported me, especially on the line. I thank Dima for his super ability to organize everything quickly, from leisure time, individual classes, to transfers. An incredible person, with great pleasure, helps everyone with care. I thank Serge for his creativity and love of beauty . We managed to create a cozy cafe and a great menu. And also for the last evening we spent on the boat. My son said it was the best day of his life. 😁 Thank you to Chanda (I hope I'm spelling the name correctly) a man who makes a holiday and magic out of just a day, a trip to the snakes, safari, around the city, into the very heart of ♥️ You guys are all very cool. 🫂 A place where you want to return . ♥️ Thank You 🙏 Thank You 🙏 Thank you 🙏

As a plus, they give out what they teach in front of the hotel. But there is a river running into the ocean nearby-draining waste from all over Veligama! I caught a terrible intestinal infection with complications. They say that they care about safety, in fact there was a lesson where three people (!) were immediately injured due to the fact that the sea was raging and no one began to change the lesson plan or cancel. Also, feel like you're being bred. They imagine that both transfer and yoga are included in the camp. In fact, they just add $ 100 to your price for a transfer from each room! And we were driving in the same car. An Uber or taxi at the airport costs $54-70. For yoga, the residents of their own hotel are charged more than twice as much as if you came from the outside! The first time I saw this, I was in different camps. Not to mention the fact that the price-quality for rooms with such a toilet and shower does not match. But this is not a claim, it is a tip for others to look for another place. One of the advantages is the atmosphere in the bar, the ability to change all kinds of money.

If you don'T want to learn how to surf, go to Surf's Up. A short essay on why you SHOULDN'T GO TO THEM! $50 is one lesson in a group of 6 people. Ground training is still ok (but in our case there was a lot of unnecessary information for the first time) As soon as we managed to say a few words, instructor Dmitry passively and aggressively declared that I would panic and in general HE IMMEDIATELY SEES WHAT TYPE I AM (as it turned out later, Dmitry is not a profiler at all), later he added, "if anything happens, go ashore and cry, just warn me." Well, have you already got the urge to come to class at this wonderful school? But that's not all that happened to us in 2 hours. During the preparation, Dmitry repeatedly said that the most important thing is safety. But when we went out on the water, a complete trash started. There were 4 adults, 1 child and one instructor (although at the beginning of the lesson Dmitry said that an assistant would definitely go with us). In 30-40 minutes on the water, Dmitry came up to me about 3 times! Carl three times for $ 50!!! All the time that we were in the water, he was at the shore with a child, pushed him and then ran to catch. We were left trying to figure out what was going on, what we should do and when. The money spent is nothing compared to the injuries that you can get with such "SAFETY AND ORGANIZATION", because when a person with a huge board goes out on the water for the first time, he can harm himself and others. And if the instructor is nearby, he can react in time and even save someone's life. When we got out of the water, I hurried to tell Dmitry that I was, to put it mildly, deprived of his attention, to which he "kindly" replied that yes, "it certainly didn't work out very much because of the child, but even if there was an adult instead of the child, nothing would have changed much" just imagine, it literally His quote is 😂. The cherry on the cake turned out to be the receptionist. After we finished, she began to persistently ask us what time we would come tomorrow, we told her that we needed time to think and decide whether we even wanted to come again. The receptionist said that she was making a schedule and in a big hurry, we repeated that we were not ready to solve anything right now. To which she said with a very displeased look and a threatening intonation, "well, then I'm not recording you." I explained to her that this was exactly what I wanted. A separate disadvantage is the location of the school across the street from the beach, you will have to wade through very busy traffic with boards every time. Recommendation: think a few times before coming here, or God forbid you pay for lessons for several weeks in advance.
