The Zion Cathedral is a living testimony to the spiritual and cultural history of Georgia. Inside, there is a warm, peaceful atmosphere: ancient icons, austere architecture and soft light create a feeling of touching eternity. The temple is easy to visit on foot from the center, surrounded by the cozy streets of the old town. I recommend visiting both during the day and at the evening service - each time the impressions are different, but equally strong.

Zion Cathedral (Sioni) is a historical church in Tbilisi, one of the two most important cathedrals of the Georgian Orthodox Church. It is located in the Old Town on the right bank of the Kura River. The cross of Saint Nino is the main sacred relic of the cathedral and the whole of Georgia. It is made of grapevine and intertwined with the hair of a young woman who converted the nation to Christianity. The cross is encased in a silver frame and fixed to the left of the main iconostasis. The carved stone plaque at the bottom reads: "Holy Cross, have mercy on us." Believers can worship the cross directly on two annual holidays — January 27 and June 1. On other days, it can be seen through the safety glass.
