Great place! The manager met us at the entrance and gave us a tour of the factory: he told us how carpets are painted and how they are woven. It was very interesting. They don't charge money for the tour. But they introduce you to the assortment, there are products for every budget. We bought silk shawls for souvenirs. The cost was 3 pieces — 1800r (you take 2, 1 as a gift). They are accepted in different currencies, including rubles.

I recently visited the Samarkand Bukhara Silk Carpets factory - it turned out to be one of the most interesting places in Samarkand! A wonderful employee, Muhammad Nabi, conducted the tour for us. He told a very fascinating story and clearly showed the whole process of carpet making - from silk preparation to creating the most complex patterns. I especially liked that it was not just a story, but a real immersion: we even had a small master class where we could try to tie knots on the carpet ourselves. It wasn't as easy as it seemed! The carpets here are real works of art: incredibly beautiful, with unique ornaments and fine handwork. You can see how much work and skill has been put into each product. I highly recommend visiting this place to anyone who comes to Samarkand. The factory is located within walking distance from Shahi Zinda, so it is convenient to include it in the route. This is not just an excursion, but a truly lively and memorable experience!👍

Be sure to come here, preferably without a tour group, on your own. At the entrance, they will meet and conduct a tour for free, show spinning and weaving machines, the carpet weaving process itself, the assortment, and tell you about different carpet weaving techniques. Then they will take you to different rooms where products for sale are presented. You should not buy here, because the prices are very high. The same carpets, clothes, shawls, and bags are available in Bukhara and Samarkand at least 2 times cheaper on local markets. But to listen, to touch the carpets, to see the process from the masters- it's worth stopping by. Then, if you walk from the factory for 20 minutes in a straight line along the highway, you will get to the oldest and only Jewish quarter in Samarkand. There you can also visit an incredible synagogue, the rabbi conducts a guided tour. You can leave donations for the ministry. There are not as many tourists there as there are to other sites in the city, but that's the beauty of it. You can personally communicate with the minister, learn about the history of the Jews of Samarkand, and see an authentic functioning synagogue with carpets and books from 200 years ago. Take a walk, you definitely won't regret it.
