I decided to surprise my wife and children by renting a car so that I wouldn't have to depend on taxis and buses. The children were delighted when they left the house and saw the car! I am sharing the details that will help you plan the same trip. I contacted the SamCarRent company. They have a wide range of options, from budget Spark to premium Tahoe. We settled on a Chevrolet Spark. It's ideal for a wife and two children, but I'd like to point out that it was a little cramped behind the wheel at my height. If you're tall, it's better to get a Cobalt or something higher right away. Special respect to manager Azim: the car was driven directly to our house at the appointed time and was also picked up at the end of the lease. The service is excellent. The contract: everything was processed very quickly. Deposit: 20,000 rubles. 15,000 of them were returned as soon as the keys were returned. The remaining 5,000 rubles were returned 3 days after checking that there were no fines. The mileage is up to 300 km per day (we drove 120 km, we did it well). The speed limit is 100 km/h (there is a GPS tracker in the car). Important: the car must be returned clean. I washed myself at the sink at home (about 300 rubles), but you can pay the guys at the rental, and they will wash themselves. There are many cameras in Samarkand and throughout Uzbekistan, so it is convenient to check for violations yourself with the My Fines app (Mening jarimalarim). The fines here are higher than at home. We drove calmly, the four of us didn't drive much in a Spark, so there were no violations. One thing for the future: negotiate the payment of gasoline in advance. This was not in the contract, but upon return, the manager asked us to pay for the fuel for our 120 km. As a result, the issue was resolved peacefully, the deposit was returned in full, but it is better to clarify this point "on the shore". We visited the Al-Bukhari Mosque and the mountains near the village of Mirankul. Samarkand region is a thrill for the driver. There are many parking lots, they are accessible. The people are extremely responsive, 98% of people speak excellent Russian, and it is comfortable to communicate everywhere. Don't be afraid to rent a car.
