A very interesting building from the point of view of architecture. The town hall itself is made of stone, but the towers (there are five in total) are wooden. It is currently undergoing renovation. Purposefully going to see is a dubious idea, but being passing through, you can stop and take a look.

The Town Hall (from German. Rathaus - literally "house of Soviets", borrowed into Russian through Polish. Ratusz) is an organ of city and rural administration and self-government. In general, it is a very beautiful building, next to an equally beautiful and well-maintained small square. I recommend watching it.

In 1511, Chechersk received the right to self-government, the so-called Magdeburg law. At the same time, a special room was built for the rada – a wooden town hall, which has not been preserved to this day. There is not much historical information about this monument. It is known that the town hall once stood in the middle of a vast square square, had a large clock striking, and a watchman stood on its tower, announcing the arrival of guests. There were shops near the town hall, about 76. The rest of the information is often mutually exclusive and can only confuse. It is impossible, for example, to find out what number of floors the town hall was: all sources cite a different number of floors, depending, probably, on what each of the authors understood by the word "floor". We don't know the original design, the author, or the exact time of its construction. In 1772, after the first partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Chechersk became part of the Russian Empire, and a year later, in 1773, the town passed into the possession of Zakhar Grigoryevich Chernyshev. At his insistence, the construction of a new stone town hall began. History is silent about the year of the beginning of construction and the name of the architect, now the building dates back to the end of the XVIII century. Bez-Kornilovich (1855) describes this building as follows: "... In the midst of a vast square, a four-sided Town Hall building, with 5 towers on top, having 2 floors of stone and 2 wooden." From 1880-1917, the town hall housed the city government, a pharmacy, and a commercial college. 1917-1941 – zootechnical college. 1941-1943 – prison of the Nazi invaders. 1943-1974 – agricultural college, school and education department. 1972 – the building was set on fire. 1976-2004 – repair and restoration work. 2004 – GUK "Chechen Historical and Ethnographic Museum". The town Hall building was severely damaged by fire in 1972, during which all the wooden structures of the town hall were destroyed, the building was repaired using the folk construction method: as far as possible, the city's enterprises and subjects of the agricultural sector allocated workers and building materials. The renovated Town Hall was officially opened on September 24, 2004, on the day of the celebration of the 845th anniversary of the city of Chechersk.
