It's a beautiful place. There are always large turtles swimming near the shore. They are not afraid of people, they swim calmly. You can and even should take pictures and make videos. Locals sell seaweed for feeding, be sure to buy it with children. It's a huge delight to feed the big turtles. Even without children, you won't regret buying a pilot. You can swim with a mask nearby, you can meet sea urchins and some fish.

Awesome amazing paradise place. Giant turtles are not afraid to eat algae from your hands, you can take pictures with them, see what they are like, how they move, how they eat, how they swim. And there are many of them. The water on the beach is clean, warm, and pleasant. I was swimming towards the reefs when a cherapaha, larger than those on the shore, suddenly pushed me in the shoulder from behind. There were no algae in their hands, everyone swam in their own direction.

I liked the beach for its pristine nature. The ocean is beautiful, I could look at it for hours. There aren't a lot of people. You can swim not everywhere, but in a specially designated place. You can also dive with a mask there. Not the red Sea, of course, but there is something to see))

It's a very interesting place where you can swim with turtles or just feed them. We lived 4 km from this beach, so it wasn't a problem to walk along the beach line to them. The beach line itself is not very wide there. There are sun beds, but for a fee. You take some food or drinks and you can lie down all day. The turtles have locals with a bag of algae, which they offer to buy to feed. At first they may say the price is too high, bargain (250 rupees, they offered it for 1000), then they gave it for free.

To be honest, I did not understand the admiration of this beach from the reviews. To look once solely for the sake of the proximity of large turtles, yes. Swimming in this stagnant water... without trepidation. It was even a little unpleasant, all the time it seemed that this coral would now turn out to be a huge turtle and rise from the bottom.😂 We were walking down the aisle from our hotel at lunchtime. There are a lot of people on the shore and in the water itself, lying, sitting on everything they could find, local vendors with bags of algae for turtles. Going and swimming there for the sake of bathing is definitely not (unless you are a small child under 4-5 years old).

Great beach. Turtles always live there. You can only swim in a certain place (this is important) because there are strong currents. You can go surfing on this beach.

This is a great place where you can not only swim, but also watch the turtles. If you want to feed them, you can buy grass for 500 or 1000 rupees, or you can harvest it yourself a little further from the beach.

It's a very cool beach. We were there in November 2024. There were 2-5 turtles. They're cool. Contact details. You can feed them algae or those that float by themselves, or buy a bag of algae from the locals for 500 rupees. Feeding turtles is very cool) Attention! Very strong lateral current. It blows away. There are always lifeguards on duty, but just in case, keep in mind that snorkeling or sailing from the shore is not very safe. The good news is that the approach is smooth. It won't take you away. There is a very tasty cafe Wijaya nearby. Oysters are simply delicious there)

The turtles are beautiful, there are no waves in the cove behind the reef, the water is clear, you need to be careful, if you get close to a turtle, you may get injured from the shell

The place is beautiful. There were several large turtles on the beach. They can be fed. You can swim and swim with a mask. The waves are extinguished by the surrounding reef. But almost all approaches to the beach are blocked off by restaurants, hotels and private parking in order to collect money from all tourists. To get through for free, you can do it to the right of the beach through a narrow passage near the frog rock. Then turn left, along the water.

The beach itself is small, turtles swim in the shallow water, or they live there. Turtles are friendly, well-fed by humans. Adults don't really swim, but they can watch the fish with a mask and feed the turtles. The place is top for children!

It's a great beach to watch and feed the huge turtles. You can also take beautiful photos against the background of palm trees hanging over the ocean, swing on a swing tied to a palm tree and just enjoy nature and the ocean.

It's worth a trip or visit here if you're in Unawatuna. Lots of turtles, you can feed them. The waves can be strong. Be careful. The beach itself is small and narrow, with lots of rocks. Keep an eye on things. The son drowned the phone in a second, swept away by the wave.

It's great to swim with the turtles and feed them. There are locals right at their base who let them in for money ( either pay or you can go a little further for free)

This is an unrealistically beautiful beach, there are a lot of emotions from communicating with huge turtles in the wild, they are very cute and harmless if you follow the usual rules of behavior. I recommend everyone to visit this beach, the ocean is super, the views are fire, the turtles are very cute.

A great place for adults and children. Tourists are brought to the paid entrance. But you can walk 20 meters along the road and get to the beach for free through any hotel or cafe. Buy seaweed for the turtles there. And please don't sit on them.

the entrance, which is indicated on the maps, was made by the locals for themselves and they ask for money for the entrance, but there is an entrance through a cafe nearby where you can safely enter. The beach itself is small and you probably won't be able to swim. just look at the turtles, feed them and leave. The current is strong, you can cut yourself on rocks or crash into turtles.

Oh, gods ! This is one of the most memorable and sweet places on this trip! Don't miss it!) turtles) huge turtles of about 7-10 individuals swim into this bay themselves to be lazily fed. Do not put the algae from your hands into your mouth) let them go for 5 cm. You risk being left without a finger)! But it's amazing! There are a lot of emotions!

Interesting location. Turtles spend almost the whole day on the beach. Turtles are big and active! The beach is fenced off by reefs, but after lunch the tide begins to overflow and floods almost the entire beach. If you swim with turtles for an hour or two, it's fine. Seaweed for turtle food is sold locally.

Autumn is cool that this is the beach where you can swim with huge turtles without any extra charges and excursions. It is better to go to the part where there is no drain, the water is cleaner there. You don't have to take food for turtles - they come in huge quantities. I recommend taking care of your legs- in case of a strong wave, the shell can cut your leg.

You can take a tuk-tuk from Unawatuna. We arrived at 10 o'clock. There were a lot of turtles. The place is isolated and there is a sign that it is forbidden to swim. But some people still swim, even with masks. Seaweed is sold on the beach to feed the turtles. The turtles are huge and cool)

The beach is a small area of water surrounded by reefs, you can touch, feed, swim and photograph turtles (there are about 2-3 of them and 8-10 pieces), you can buy food here (a bag of algae for 500 rupees, about 170 rubles), sun beds are offered for a deposit (the deposit is included in what you order), you can order food (I do not recommend it, it is expensive and commonplace), oysters and sea urchins are offered (for an amateur, if you take them, be sure to take a sip of something strong), fish is also offered (if you see that it is alive, take it, bargain, dropping boldly 50%, you can cook at your hotel or in any other, but only for money, they usually charge 3,000 rupees for the weight, but they can cook fish, I assure you you won't regret it), the locals also walk with animals (monkeys, snakes), don't pay attention to them, they are arrogant, stand aside, they will show a small show anyway, then look If you take a picture (well, give me a tip as much as you see fit), I advise you to come here in the morning before 11:00, otherwise there will be a lot of people and sunshine. I RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE, GOOD LUCK AND NEW EXPERIENCES!!!

Great! Swimming with turtles is an unforgettable event. + on the beach they sell food for reasonable money, turtles love it very much and they are easy to attract + the feeling that the turtles are always there waiting for someone to give them a treat - access to the beach is not very good, it is not clear where to go from the road at all, there are no landmarks - it's a pretty big current, we need to be careful when we were on duty with a lifeguard, and even he had to put on his fins when auntie was swept away. A word of advice - don't wear green swimsuits. I had bright acidic swimming trunks, and I had to run away from the turtles - they mistook me for seaweed and tried to take a bite. The older, largest individuals were especially interested, it seems that their eyesight is not very good. It's a little scary.

We were vacationing in March 2025 near turtle beach. There are people there all the time, they feed the turtles. The feed is sold here for 500 rupees. There are up to 7 turtles, they raise their heads so interestingly for food. The kids really like it there. You can swim with them, touch the shell. But if a turtle suddenly throws a turtle at you, it won't seem like much, it will hurt. We have to be careful! By the way, there is a beautiful color of turtles, and there is not so much. In any case, you will like it!

We were in Sri Lanka in January 2025. We lived relatively close to this beach with turtles at the Aralia Hotel. We came to this beach by tuk-tuk (we took 2 tuk-tuks because there are four of us). Bags of algae for feeding turtles are immediately sold at the entrance. In my opinion, the bag costs 500 rupees (about 170 rubles). two sachets were enough for our eyes. Where there are turtles, there are people, you can't miss. There are a lot of people, but there are also enough turtles. There are sun beds on the beach - you can take them. Turtles swim right off the shore. We enjoyed interacting with the animals. They fed, stroked, took photos, videos and returned home. We had a lot of fun. The children were, of course, delighted.

The main feature of this beach is the turtles. They swim near the shore and even a child can safely admire this beauty. The turtles there are semi-tame, it's fashionable to say, they don't shave people and come for goodies (algae), which the nimble guys in the shells don't sell very cheaply there)))) .But turtles don't have to be stroked, touched, or dragged away. You can easily take taxis, tuk tuks, and buses from the beach. Not many , but there are a few cafes and where they serve delicious pizza over a campfire .

It's a very beautiful beach, lots of turtles, and they eat with their hands. Be careful, the turtle was pushed by the wave and hit in the leg, and you know what its weight is. The bruise has been going on for 2.5 months now… And in any case, do not pay for entry to speculators of Sri Lankans! Admission is free! Call the police if anything happens.

the place is just great, the turtles are on fire, but at the entrance they are trying to steal money from you under the pretext that this is a private beach, etc., There is also an incomprehensible dude walking along the beach with a monkey, this character says that everything is free, you touch and take pictures, but when it comes to saying goodbye, a dialogue begins about the fact that this is his job and the monkey needs to eat generally according to the database, do not be fooled, and so the place is super

A narrow strip of beach, where the beach is wider, there are huge stones or even rocks in the water. Turtles swim only where there are no rocks, i.e. where tourists swim. But you won't swim very far anyway. The whole trick is swimming with turtles and feeding them. Seaweed is sold right on the beach for 500 rupees. Sun beds are paid regardless of whether you take drinks and food or not - 1000 rupees per sunbed.* *Prices are current for February 2025

It's a great place. Probably the best thing about Unawatuna. There are paid turtles, usually it is to them that tuk tuk tuk drives. For 1,000 rupees (300 rubles), you will be given a bag of seaweed and you will feed the turtle and smile. But if you walk 250 meters further along the road and slip through a narrow passage to the beach, then you will see a semi-wild beach with a bent palm tree, local fishermen and a small lagoon protected by reefs from waves, where locals swim. So free algae grow on this beach and free semi-wild turtles swim, which love to eat from the hands of tourists and local good-natured residents). And if you walk along the beach towards Unawatuna, you can see fishing poles, bungee ropes and palm trees with coconuts.
