You should definitely visit on your way to Vegas. The views themselves are fascinating, there are a lot of tourists, but everything is well organized and the groups go each to their own time. The guide will tell you in detail about the history of this place and its functionality. The project is designed in Art Deco style by American architect Gordon Kaufman. The body of the dam was filled not with monolithic blocks, but with trapezoidal columns, which increased evaporation and somewhat accelerated the cooling process of concrete. Almost 5 km of bypass tunnels were drilled into the rocks to drain river water. They are still partially used to drain and direct water to turbine installations of an electric substation. The dam helps to smooth out fluctuations in the river level, which eliminated the risk of flooding in the lower reaches of the Colorado. The dam's generators generate electricity, which is used for public and private needs in Nevada, Arizona and California.

Hoover Dam (Hoover Dam) is a massive concrete dam on the Nevada-Arizona border, built in 1931-1936. It provides hydroelectric power generation, flood control, and water supply for irrigation and municipal needs in the southwestern United States. The dam created Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States by volume.

A landmark of the state of Nevada. Car inspection at the entrance. There are several free parking lots. If you can't park nearby, look for a place in the nearest parking lot. You can take beautiful photos against the background of the dam and from the platinum itself. If you want a tour inside the platinum, do not forget the entrance is paid. There are no excursions with a Russian-speaking guide. The engine room was not hit. No frozen dysypticons were found) , although the film was shot here. It was closed at that time. You can buy souvenirs with the platinum symbol. Platinum is small, platinum is grander in Russia!
