Level 9 Local Expert

Panasanauri on Leonidze left a good overall impression. The khinkali here are excellent, and the quality is consistently maintained. They are flavorful, juicy, and well made, and the food overall is genuinely very good. This is a place worth visiting for the kitchen alone. The only downside, as in many restaurants in Tbilisi, is the attitude of the staff toward guests. At times it feels like even being handed the menu is already a favor. But the food is excellent, and that is what makes this place worth recommending.

I was left with a very unpleasant impression of this place, mainly because of the service. Even though the restaurant was not full, we had to wait around 20 minutes just for a waiter to take our order. That was the first warning sign. There were six of us at the table. Everyone else received their food, but for some reason my order was completely forgotten. It was a very simple order: chicken barbecue, tea, and lemon pie. When everyone else had been served, I asked the waiter whether my order might have been missed. He assured me that everything was fine and that it was being prepared. Fifteen minutes later, my chicken barbecue still had not arrived, so I asked again and received the same answer: everything was fine and it was being prepared. Another 15 minutes passed. I asked for the third time, pointing out that I still had no chicken barbecue, tea, or lemon pie. Only then did it turn out that my order had never actually been placed. So the previous two assurances that it was being prepared were simply not true. Only after the third reminder did they finally start working on my order and at least bring the tea. In total, I waited about an hour for my food, and even then the order was incomplete. The lemon pie never arrived at all, which is especially strange considering it did not need to be cooked and only had to be served. However, they did remember to include it on the bill, so we had to ask them to remove it. There was no apology or explanation. Overall, the attitude and level of attention from the staff felt very strange and disappointing. After this experience, I’m unlikely to return to this place.
