Ojakh Hostel has a lot of heart, and it genuinely feels comfy and welcoming from the moment you arrive. The hosts are incredibly attentive and do their best to make you feel at home. The outdoor sitting area is fantastic for relaxing, the beds are nice and soft, and the shower has great warm water. It definitely leans into a very rustic vibe—complete with an outhouse—which adds some charm if you enjoy that style of travel. However, getting a good night's sleep was a major challenge during my stay. The sound insulation is practically non-existent; you can hear absolutely everything from upstairs and outside. My first few nights were disrupted by drunk guests who ignored the quiet hours, and the following nights were kept loud by noisy dogs outside. Because of this, it wasn't nearly as peaceful as I had hoped. A few practical things to note for future travelers: The Environment: There is no heating in the rooms, so it can get quite cold at night despite the comfortable beds. Also, the kitchen light layout means it illuminates the whole house and shines into the rooms, so you have to keep getting up to turn it off. Connectivity & Location: The internet is quite slow (less than 20 Mbps), which might be tough if you need to work. Location-wise, it’s a pleasant but solid 20-minute walk to get downtown. Payment: It is strictly cash only, as no credit cards are accepted. If you are a heavy sleeper or come prepared with good earplugs, the warmth of the hosts and the cozy atmosphere make it a nice place to crash. But if you are sensitive to noise, the lack of quiet at night is something to consider.
