In principle, the central square of the capital is a clear expression of identity in any country. In Bishkek, it is called Ala-Too, which could be translated as High-altitude (literally ala-too means "mottled mountains", that is, mountains with an altitude zone). The Tien Shan is an integral part of the square's ensemble. Both the White House (government) and the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) are located in the immediate vicinity of the square, but not on it itself. Some ministries and universities come out here, some trade, but in general, the main building of the square is the Historical Museum right ahead. In the center there is a flagpole, so beloved by the Turks of all countries. As for the monuments to the two pillars of Kyrgyz culture: the writer Chingiz Aitmatov and the epic hero Manas.
