It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is located 40 km from the capital of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicosia, at an altitude of about 900 m above sea level. The monastery was founded in the 12th century. Well-maintained territory. We took the bus up the serpentine, the view is beautiful, at the turns, even everyone got out so that the bus would pass calmly.It's a wonderful place.

The monastery is quite small, but very warm and cozy. Especially the old territory, but, by the way, it can sometimes be closed. The monks close it without explaining the reasons. And then only a small temple was opened at the entrance ... We were here twice and only once we were lucky enough to get into the "closed" territory. There is a small souvenir shop at the entrance to the monastery. In it, in addition to church atrebutics, you can buy pretty good olive oil, herbal teas, various ointments that the monks themselves make. By the way, you will not find such products in every Cypriot monastery. Not far from the monastery there is a small museum dedicated to Greorius Avxentiu, the hero of the national liberation struggle of 1955-1959. The museum has a very sincere grandfather, the caretaker, who will enthusiastically talk about Grigorius and his tragic death near these places...
