Very nice Soviet monument that is integral part of the landscape of Tbilisi. You can see it from several angles while walking around town. At first it was an allegorical wooden statue, that was later covered with aluminum to better resist the elemts. In one hand she holds a plate with grapes to welcome friends, in the other a sword to defend the city from unwelcome guests.

The Mother of Georgia (Mother Kartli) has been towering on the Sololak ridge since the 50s, which can be reached by cable car and offers a magnificent panorama of the city. The Mother of Georgia is visible from many points in Tbilisi, illuminated very beautifully at night.
