Mstislavsky voivode Jozef Korsak founded the Franciscan monastery in Udelo in 1642 and built a wooden Catholic church at it. The stone church in place of the wooden one was built from 1766 to 1791, it was consecrated in honor of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. The construction of the monastery buildings was completed in 1805, but in 1809 the monastery complex was damaged by fire. In 1837, the church building, originally built in the Baroque style, was rebuilt with the addition of elements in the style of late classicism, in particular, the main facade was topped with a triangular pediment and deprived of side towers. The interior of the temple was also redone in a classical style. In 1851, the Franciscan monastery was closed by the authorities, and the monastery church became an ordinary parish church. In 1949, the church was closed and only returned to the faithful in 1988. The main role in the restoration of the parish was played by Father Jozef Bulka, rector of the church in nearby Mosar. Since 2000, the Catholic church has been under the control of the Franciscans again. The interior of the castle is beautiful. The side and altar facades are pierced by shaped windows. Above the entrance there are curved choirs with an organ (only at the church there is no person who can play it). In front of the main facade of the church, a square two-tiered bell tower has been built along the axis of the central entrance, which is also a temple. In the economic building of the monastery, you can watch a batleyka, this is not a traditional Belarusian batleyka, ordinary toys (Barbies, Ken) are used for the characters here. There is also a small museum in honor of the Polish Franciscan priest Maximilian Kolbe, who died in Auschwitz, voluntarily going to his death for the sake of a stranger. In 1982, Kolbe was canonized. There is a crypt in the church's basements and a photo exhibition dedicated to the activities of the Franciscan monks. The church in Udelo is less well-known than in Mosar, but it is definitely worth staying there.
