A beautiful place to walk, the area resembles Portugal. There are many palm trees, beautiful views, security guards are constantly walking - and it's all harmonious. There are few tourists in the summer.

One of the 6 residences of the Sultan of Oman, which is in operation, is therefore not open to tourists. Interesting architecture of the palace, near the square, flower gardens and palm trees

Al Alam Palace (Qasr Al Alam) The ceremonial residence of the Sultan of Oman, located in the heart of Old Muscat between two historic Portuguese forts — Al Mirani and Al Jalali. Its majestic blue and gold facade is one of the most recognizable symbols of the capital. Title: Translated from Arabic, "Al-Alam" means "Flag". Previously, the palace was known as "Bayt al-Alam" (House of the Flag). History: The first palace on this site was built in the early 19th century by Sultan Said bin Sultan. The modern building was erected in 1972 on the initiative of Sultan Qaboos bin Said. In 1975, its large-scale reconstruction was carried out. Today, the Sultan does not live there permanently, but uses the palace for official ceremonies, receiving heads of state and holding high-level meetings. Architecture: The unique facade, decorated in bright gold and blue tones, is decorated with columns lined with mosaic tiles. The building is a striking example of modern Islamic architecture with fancy, "bell-shaped" columns. There is an extensive garden with trees and flowers in the center of the palace. Panoramic view: From the square in front of the palace and from the embankment there is a breathtaking view of the building itself, the Gulf of Oman and the two historical forts flanking it.
