It would be wrong to say that we were unlucky and, having climbed to the top, we saw nothing but a wall of fog, the valley did not open up to us, but the path itself was magnificent, the nature of the mountains really conquers. On the way, we met a group of guys walking barefoot. If you plan a trip to the pass, do not delay the ascent until lunch, we did it because of the lack of horses...as a result, the weather quickly deteriorated, we managed to get home well before the downpour and not get wet.

It's a beautiful place, and it's hard to get there: the road from Ritsa to the Auadhara base is just bad, and from the base to the pass it's very bad, only on a confident off-road vehicle like a patrol, UAZ or delica. In my opinion, it is better to go with an overnight stay and tents, otherwise you will get tired of the highway itself more. And it's better to bring everything with you for a normal lunch upstairs. Then you will have the strength to go around the whole valley, since you are there. In addition, an overnight stay will allow you to see the valley in beautiful morning and evening light. We went one day, we walk fast, so we got to the lakes quickly, in places where it's difficult to climb uphill, but there are short climbs and you can rest on the gentle sections of the way. For comparison, it was harder for me to climb the small Ritsa, although the path there is shorter. I recommend visiting the Valley if you have the opportunity. On the way, we also stopped to drink mineral water from a spring near Auadhara.

Valley of the Seven Lakes: The harsh beauty of the highlands If you are looking for more than just a beach holiday in Abkhazia, but a real adventure and breathtaking landscapes, then the Valley of the Seven Lakes is a must—visit place. What is it? This is not a classic "valley" in the usual sense, but rather a cascade of seven high-altitude lakes connected by the river Bzyb. They are located at an altitude of more than 1000 meters above sea level on the slopes of the Blue Ridge. Lakes have different sizes and colors of water, from emerald to rich turquoise, depending on the time of year and the weather. Impressions: The way to the lakes is already part of the adventure. The road from the village of Blabyrkhua (where the jeep tour usually starts) takes about an hour and is an extreme but very scenic off-road climb along the mountain serpentine. The views from the window are simply unreal: gorges overgrown with boxwood and ferns, panoramas of the Main Caucasian Ridge and endless forests. The valley itself welcomes you with stunning silence and a feeling of complete solitude with nature. The air is incredibly clean and fresh. The water in the lakes is cold even in summer, but the bravest can take a chance to swim. The upper lakes, surrounded by cliffs and alpine meadows, look especially beautiful. It is important to know: 1. This is not a resort. There is no infrastructure here: cafes, shops, toilets. Bring water, snacks, and everything you need. 2. An SUV with a local driver is required. It is impossible and dangerous to get up here by yourself in a regular car. This is strictly part of a jeep tour, which can be booked in any resort town of Abkhazia (Gagra, Pitsunda, Gudauta). 3. Dress properly. Even if it's hot below, it can be cool and windy above. Comfortable, non-slip shoes (trekking sneakers or boots), a windbreaker and a hat are required. 4. The route requires minimal physical training. To get around all seven lakes, you will have to hike a little along the mountain trails. Bottom line: The Valley of the Seven Lakes leaves contradictory, but mostly enthusiastic impressions. This is a place for those who appreciate wild, untouched nature, are ready for road difficulties and are looking for real, not "postcard" emotions. The views that open from a height are worth all the effort and remain in the memory for a long time. This is definitely one of the most striking and authentic natural attractions in Abkhazia. Rating: 5/5 (for natural beauty and uniqueness). The minus star is only for the difficulty of the road, but this is more a feature than a disadvantage.
