More than 2 thousand species, forms and varieties of trees and shrubs from Siberia, Europe, North America, the Far East, Central Asia, Japan, China and other countries have been tested and studied in this arboretum. To date, about 800 of the original 2,000 species have been preserved, belonging to 30 families and 95 genera. The collections include rare species listed in the Red Book of Kazakhstan (common oak, Siberian Altai, almond Ledeburovsky, etc. For more than 50 years, work has been carried out on the basis of this facility, which is essentially a "living scientific laboratory", to acclimatize introduced tree and shrub species to the conditions of Northern Kazakhstan. As a result of long-term study of introducents for adaptive ability to new conditions, breeds are selected for various purposes: the use of introducents in protective afforestation (garden and protective forest strips, fixing slopes, ravines, etc.), landscaping of cities, towns and other settlements with decorative trees and shrubs, to create green areas, introduction into plantation crops, forest reproduction, etc.
