I liked the tower. The slender, beautiful structure can be seen from afar along Chui Avenue and not only along the avenue. The architectural forms are fully justified and in harmony with the surrounding buildings. Bishkek's main clock looks great. The clock tower is one of the symbols of the capital, built in 1984, was supposed to symbolize the friendship of the peoples of the USSR. We did not save either friendship or the USSR. The clockwork mechanism of the chimes was created in Yerevan and donated by the Kyrgyz SSR. Next to the tower is the Kyrgyztelecom building, which together forms a single architectural complex in the style of Soviet modernism. In the early years of its existence, the chimes had a "voice", "beat off" the time. Then you probably got tired. Old-timers remember that with the collapse of the USSR, the clock also broke down, along with the USSR, the mechanism responsible for the soundtrack became unusable. Everything is working now and the beautiful clock shows the correct time and sounds again. Bishkek chimes have received the voice of the national instruments of Kyrgyzstan.

We walked with my wife at the Clock Tower in Bishkek in early April. Located at the intersection of Chui Avenue and Kievskaya Street, next to the main post office, parking was found on a side street for free, but the place was not the first time. Previously, the chimes played melodies every hour, but now they just ring, without music. In early April, the weather is already warm, there are benches around, you can sit, but there is little shade — if the sun is shining, take caps. Useful information: the main post office and cafes are nearby, so you can combine a walk with lunch.

In the early years of the work, the chimes were struck hourly with a loud and precise ringing. There was a tradition — on New Year's Eve, residents and guests of Bishkek gathered near the chimes to make a wish to the sounds of the clock striking.
