Reserva Natural Especial de Las Dunas de Maspalomas is a special nature reserve established in 1987. It is on its territory that the famous Maspalomas Dunes are located - a piece of desert with an area of 404 hectares, formed after the last ice age. By the way, the beach of the same name is located in the south-west of the reserve, the landmark is the current lighthouse of the XIX century Faro de Maspalomas.
