This place is my favourite side-street cafe. It has some of the tastiest Russian cuisine I have ever tasted in all my many years in Russia. Yes, even better than some babushkas’ cooking. The draniki with salmon and slivochniy sauce are to die for. They’re even garnished with some caviar. The soups have so much flavour, too.
The cafe itself is comfortable, intimate, and there are old Soviet memorabilia on the walls, old portable TVs, photo, trinkets and magazines.
The staff is two girls who own and run the place, cook, and serve.
I cannot recommend this place enough.

This place is absolutely great. The decor is unusual, but unique. The staff are very friendly and even remembered how I like my coffee and food after only one visit. The food is simple and very tasty, plus great value.
There’s a fantastic view of the river and mountains.
I’m sitting there now writing this, on my second visit. It certainly won’t be my last.
And they have an owl. Who doesn’t like owls?)
The menu was valid as of 12/07/2023
Edit: You can buy souvenirs and local spices here as gifts.

Пишу на английском. У меня нет слов на русском) I cannot fault this barbershop in any way. Professional, friendly, and a free Irish coffee! 😂 Everything was precise and slow. Unlike any barbershop I’ve visited before. Their care is more important than just finish the job and move into the next client. I visit Almaty a few times a year. I’ll definitely wait until my next trip before I get a haircut again. Thank you very much, Max!
