The Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji) is a must-visit place in Kyoto.
The pavilion building has been restored, but it itself, as well as a pond with carp (turtles, etc. wildlife), a park with artificial waterfalls, a tea house and souvenir shops you should like, especially if you arrive early after the opening.
Try to get a coin into a stone or cast-iron bowl (coins of 10, 50 and 100 yen are better for a good throw; 5 and, moreover, 1 yen are too light for this)
