The building of the Almaty 2 railway station began to be built in 1936 according to the standard project "Kharkiv Transport Project", tied to the area by architects A. P. Galkin and M. Kudryavtsev. The construction was completed in 1939.
The building is an architectural monument of the 1930s, built in the style of classicism using constructivist elements.
The main entrance of the railway station, located along the central axis of the symmetrical structure, is accentuated by a monumental portal. The doorways are highlighted by a stained glass window located above them. On the frieze, above the arched window opening, there is a bas-relief with scenes of socialist labor.

You really find yourself in Soviet times, despite the mobile department and the coffee shop. The scoreboard in the waiting room does not work, there are few seats for such a flow of passengers. Some of the racks with chairs are sagging or bent.
