The station surprised me. For the capital, I would like to see a bigger and cleaner building. You can sit out if not for long. On the 2nd floor, the dining room is very nice and with pleasant prices. There is catastrophically little space in the waiting room. There is a currency exchange , a help desk . There is a pharmacy and shops across the street. Everyone's favorite curbs are being repaired. This is an interplanetary disaster.

Almaty Railway Station is a building with a history, which, unfortunately, does not always meet modern standards of comfort. My impressions of him are quite contradictory.
On the one hand, the architecture of the station is impressive. The building is beautiful, with typical Soviet-era monumentality. There is a certain charm of antiquity in it, a certain atmosphere that takes you back in time. Inside, the elements of the old decor have been preserved, which add a special atmosphere to the station.
However, modern repairs and reconstruction, apparently, were carried out unevenly. Some areas look quite decent, and some need serious updating. There is a feeling of some neglect in some parts of the building.
Overall, the convenience for passengers leaves much to be desired. The navigation system could be more understandable, the number of waiting places is not enough, especially during rush hours. Unfortunately, toilets are not always in perfect condition.
Thus, Almaty railway Station is a place with a rich history and beautiful architecture. But it needs a more thorough renovation and improved conditions for passengers to meet the modern level of comfort. I would rate it 3 out of 5 points. It gives the impression of a historical place, but it is not comfortable and functional enough for modern passengers.
