There are beautiful halls inside the castle. The floor in them is lined with mosaic marble of several types. Very beautiful! If you take a photo next to the sculpture of the Holy Angel on the observation deck above, it will seem that you are under his protection and he is driving away invisible enemies with a huge sword.
The Castel Sant'Angelo is a place where history comes to life. Originally built as the mausoleum of Emperor Hadrian, it has survived the centuries, turning into a fortress, papal residence and prison. Today it is one of the most impressive museums in Rome.
Majestic architecture, massive walls and mysterious passages create a special atmosphere. Going up, you can see the beautifully preserved halls and arsenals, and from the terrace you can enjoy a stunning panorama of the Eternal City.
The castle combines romance, grandeur and mysticism of the past. This is a must-visit place if you want to feel the spirit of Rome and touch its centuries-old history.
In March 2025, there was no queue at all in the morning. Admission is 16€. The views are amazing. Especially from the topmost observation deck on the roof. There is also a lot to see inside. There is a cafe with a view of St. Peter and the Tiber. But all the tables are occupied(. There are more people willing than there are places. I definitely recommend you to visit.
