A monument to the most revered local saint and enlightener of the 12th century. A relative of the Russian princes took the veil as a child. She died during a pilgrimage to Jerusalem in 1167, where she was buried in the monastery of St. Theodosius the Cynoviarch.
The monument is small, located near the central square in a quiet square. An iconic figure for Belarus, her relics are located in the monastery of the same name in Polotsk.
According to the idea of sculptor Igor Golubev [the idea of the project belongs to Yuri Ivanovsky], the venerable (the first Woman in Belarus recognized as a saint) Euphrosyne of Polotsk (heavenly patroness of Belarus and the city of Polotsk, granddaughter of Vseslav Bryachislavich and daughter of Vladimir Monomakh, in paganism Predslava) is on the way from her birthplace to her destination (from the Great posad to the Spassky Monastery).
There is a strong opinion that "The Cross of Euphrosyne of Polotsk is one of the ten most valuable missing art objects.
According to legend, the acquisition of the Cross of Euphrosyne of Polotsk will mark the true rebirth of Belarus."
Let's wait...
and if a Woman is elected president, then this is not an option for the revival of Belarus?!
The daughter of Prince Svyatoslav of Vitebsk and the granddaughter of Vseslav the Magician. Her father wanted to marry her off for dynastic reasons, but the girl resisted and secretly fled to the monastery, whose abbess was her aunt, and took vows. She was engaged in educational and charitable activities, built two churches in Polotsk at her own expense and opened two monasteries. She had a school, an almshouse, icon painting and jewelry workshops, etc. She died in Jerusalem during a pilgrimage to Holy Places. Canonized. She is considered the patron saint of Belarus, and is very revered among the local population.

Beautiful street. I really liked it. As well as Polotsk in general
The place is good, it is a landmark of the city, the monument is beautiful, very similar to Euphrosyne itself, many flowers, but the monument itself is not clean, plus there is not a single bench
The founder of the church, built with her own money and recognized by the ROC as a saint in her hometown of Polotsk... A spiritual and soul-cleansing place!
