The wolf is beautiful, located in the city center, the landmark of Volkovysk. And if you rub the wolf's nose and make a wish, it will certainly come true)
A good and beautiful sculpture. Every resident and guest of the city rubs the wolf's nose and makes a wish. A good place to relax and take a photo shoot.
The sculptor is Vladimir Ivanovich Panteleev.
The monument, in the form of a wolf lying on a stone pedestal, was installed in 2005 to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the city of Volkovysk.
The image of the wolf is not accidental - there are several legends where the name of the city came from:
- they dragged goods on the way from the Varangians to the Greeks.
- in the local forests there lived robbers of Portage and Carvings, they had their own cave, where they took the loot.
- a romantic story about Marina, the Prince and the Volkolaks.
If you are a visitor or getting married, you need to rub your nose and make a wish. A year later, I declare it comes true, but in a very peculiar way) It's like a genie in a fairy tale, in general. And so, a pretty noticeable place for meetings and dates, for example.
We have a belief that if a wolf rubs his nose and makes a wish, it will come true, I can't find a wish, everything I want doesn't seem to matter, so in search of the main thing, and most importantly-peace, blue sky and health
This is my hometown. I'm from there, but I haven't lived there for 30 years. But I'm coming with pleasure. A clean and beautiful city. A very good cafe in the city center and a pizzeria on Pobedy Street. Come to our small town
A landmark place for the small, cozy, wonderful town of Volkovysk. It decorates the square and creates a unique flavor . In general, when coming to this city, one is immersed in an atmosphere of peace, friendliness, and spiritual purity....
A rare visitor to this place will deny himself the pleasure of patting the nose of this handsome man. This is usually done for good luck and to return to this well-groomed city once again.
Great sculpture. It is conveniently located: visitors do not need to look for it in courtyards and alleys. Nearby there is a fountain, benches, shops, Parking spaces. Children will definitely like it, and adults too.
It's good that in addition to installing the sculpture, they tied a "sign" about the friction of the paw and nose to it - it's much more interesting this way.
A beautiful monument, the main symbol of the city of Volkovysk. It is located on the main square near the fountain. They say that if you rub the nose of a wolf, then financial well-being awaits a person.
An interesting sculpture, it is popular, especially among children. We were in the summer - the fountain was working, the children walked on the water, sat on the wolf) Did you like the square
A beautiful city!!! Cozy and well-maintained, a lot of greenery and flowers, beautiful churches and Catholic and Orthodox and the kindest people! ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
Super! I RECOMMEND IT!!!
IF YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE IN VOLKOVYSK, be sure to visit the city center - so many impressions are given by a kind Wolf. This is the mascot of the city. When we come from Minsk to Volkovysk (it's a pity that not often, once a year), the children ask to visit the Wolf. This is already a tradition. Then we are always lucky in business and in travel. And this time, the daughter wiped the Wolf's nose so that the Wolf would not get sick with the virus 🐺✨🤝💐🏡🇧🇾🛡️
It is set high, so the angle for the photo is bad, and the sculpture itself is not of the right proportions and is made roughly, but nevertheless it looks and attracts attention in general
Perhaps the time will come, and the Citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus will have an interesting slogan (an appeal to a certain subject ...), incomprehensible to our Western and eastern partners:
"The Volkovysk and Tambov Wolves are your friend, comrade and brother."
The origin of the city's name seems obvious, so the wolf was captured. Although there is no consensus on the origin of the name. But during more than 900 years of the city's history (the first mention in the Turov chronicle under the year 1005), it was burned so many times, destroyed to the ground and turned into ruins that there are no written sources left. So let's look back at the wolf, which, in my opinion, looks more like a yard dog looking into the eyes of its owner.
