We did not enter the station itself, we were at the ticket office to find out the cost of the overnight train to Luxor. It's sooooo long... There was only one queue with 2 windows, and there were 5 people in front of us. We stood for about 40 minutes...
They don't let me go to the train station without tickets, but I explained that I was a tourist and I wanted to take pictures of the most beautiful train station in Egypt (apparently they were flattered by this) and a security officer (police) led me without a ticket saying everything is OK. Really a very nice and pleasant place
An interesting composition in the center of the hall. To buy tickets, a foreign tourist needs to go up the left escalator, turn left, then right and to the end of the corridor. There will be a cash register at the end of the corridor on the left. The 1st and 2nd classes on the train are not much different. To Alexandria, 1st class is $20, 2nd class is $15.
