In 1992, the city of Orsha turned 925 years old. On June 27 of the same year, a monument to V. S. Korotkevich was unveiled on the banks of the Dnieper River in the children's park "Fairyland". The author of the monument is I. Golubev. Here, on the territory of the current park, there were wooden houses in one of which the writer's family lived in the pre-war years. The thoughtful Korotkevich seems to be writing something down in a notebook, from which images from the pages of his works soar skyward: a horseman, a castle, a stork. Below them is a poem by the writer dedicated to the famous city of Orsha. It is understandable without translation: I love Tamu Orsha Pershym vyalikim kahannem, I do not know, I do not know, I do not know. V. S. Korotkevich is a writer, playwright, screenwriter, translator, considered the first Belarusian author to write works related to the genre of historical detective. For example, "The Black Castle of Olshansky", on which the film was shot, "The Wild Hunt of King Stakha". The writer loved his native Belarus very much, his "Zyamlya pad with white wings" is remembered for a long time.
