A small zoo, in the center of the historical city, there is a lioness, monkeys, etc., prices are reasonable, there is Parking, only you need to add a little more description of some animals, for example, there is a cage with guinea pigs, it is written that there is a feature that they sing beautifully like birds, (they sing) but this phenomenon happens only when they are happy, and also that they immediately have full-fledged children, hairy, open eyes and have teeth, it's a pity there are no photos now, in short, hairy, toothy and with eyes immediately come into life, treat them as if they have been for several months, amazing
The zoo in Vitebsk is a typical zoo for Belarus, but I liked it more than Minsk: there are well-fed animals here, and the situation itself does not make a dull impression. The horses are very sociable, as is the huge bison; the monkey family is funny; but the most important here are roosters and swans, who can move freely throughout the territory.
I was surprised that there are no pigs and wild boars in the zoo. I liked that the territory is located in a forested area and is shaded by trees. The staff is friendly and always ready to help. It is a great place for children and adults to visit. The ticket price will pleasantly surprise you)
A small but very interesting zoo. There are lioness, macaques, raccoons, bear, bison, camel, foxes and wolves. Free-walking swans and chickens, funny geese who want to pinch at every opportunity, it's good that they are sitting in a pen).
It is interesting that different animals are released at different times in the street stalls. We were in early May, it was quite cold. Probably, the walking time is related to the temperature of the air outside. The children were wondering if they could not be taken out of the zoo for more than two hours, although it can be bypassed with a calm step in half an hour.
The animals look healthy and well-groomed, despite the fact that the enclosures are small, old and feel like they are made from available materials at hand.
The entrance is about 4 Belarusian rubles
There are not very many animals and the territory is small, but, in general, it is a pleasant place just to walk, look at the animals, especially when it is hot and stuffy in the city, there is a green corner and shade, besides for a small fee.
A small, cramped city zoo. What we were able to collect in such a territory, it turned out. St. Petersburg reminded me, of course, it is richer there, but there is also little space for spacious aviaries. And all this only causes a feeling of pity for animals in such conditions. There is something to compare, the Berlin zoo, the Prague zoo, and even the Moscow zoo, they have much more humane conditions. Not to mention, for example, the zoo in Tunisia, where the animals are in huge enclosures as in a natural environment. And it's more likely that people pass through the caged corridors there than animals. It is interesting for children to watch animals, but not driven into such a tight frame. But I really liked the drawings of the children)
I put 4 only out of respect for our smaller brothers and understanding of the whole sad situation - the authorities have always had no business with our zoo. I have probably visited almost all the zoos in Belarus and Vitebsk is definitely one of the worst, which is very sad. Animals are cramped and their conditions leave much to be desired, besides there are very few animals. The zoo definitely needs renovation. Of course, it's primarily about financing, which is not available. Alternatively, make a fundraiser on a voluntary basis, but do it on a large scale, with good advertising, and not on a printed A4 sheet on the fence. A lot of people live in Vitebsk, and if you spread the information outside the city, then, I'm sure, you can raise a round sum, after all, there are many people who care about the fate of animals and the entire zoo. Only the reconstruction should have a clear plan so that people know that they are not giving their money to someone in their pocket or for repairs in the style of painting fences. Think about it and at the same time look at what kind of zoo in Minsk, okay, we don't take the capital, at least in the same Grodno - and it's not super there, but you don't look at most animals with pity, like we do. If you do not care about animals and the status of the main regional zoo, then you urgently need to do something!
A cute little zoo in the center of Vitebsk. Once inside, we had a whole adventure. For some reason, the cashier did not accept any bank cards for payment that day, only cash. This is the second week we have been traveling in Belarus and we are very used to non-cash payments. There was no need to exchange Russian rubles for local currency anywhere. And here there were only enough coins for two entrance tickets. A child with one of the parents passed, and I had to ask for a change of money from passersby. I've never been in such a situation before.
Lovely animals, friendly staff. Cute children's drawings at the entrance. But it seems to be the most underfunded zoo. The cells are small. We have also seen the Soviet Union. All the buildings look very tired.
A wonderful zoo! We enjoyed visiting it immensely. The cleanliness of the animals in the aviaries and, in principle, in the zoo. The zoo itself is not big, but the animals are so cute that you return to the same animal several times and time drags on. I recommend it!
The zoo is nice and spacious!
I feel very sorry for the animals , they have little place in cages , it was quite cold outside and the animals were in the cold
It was a pity, especially for the lioness, she was alone in the cage, it was cold there and she screamed so loudly out of boredom or from the cold
Animals need help
I really liked the zoo in Vitebsk!!! There are quite a lot of animals in a small area. Camels, elk, jaguar, deer, horses (very beautiful and stately), bison Borya (out of competition.... Such power and strength), wolves (caught a couple with cubs. It was very interesting to watch), a raccoon (also a mom with two children - she was just touching, trying to protect her fidgets from our annoying glances...but we still managed to shoot a couple of videos)))foxes, a pair of porcupines, a raccoon dog (they could not see it - a night dweller, they explained to us)), funny monkeys, well, the whole poultry yard (from seagulls, roosters and turkeys to swans, storks and herons))). The animals are all well-groomed, the territory is clean. And all this is created and maintained by employees without any investments from patrons!!!
In general, I highly recommend it!!! You won't regret it!!!)
Very small, but the animals are well-groomed, especially the lioness, the Bison, the swans are walking, the horses are there. It's a pity you can't feed it. It is a very small area, but it is clear that the animals are being taken care of. It is a pity that there is so little room for them. The food is good. We saw it for ourselves. The animals are right close. It's worth going.
Disgusting attitude towards visitors on the part of the staff . Or to be more precise, one employee.
Madame at the checkout did not let a disabled child and a child under three years old into the zoo. We arrived at 4:35 p.m., we were told that the ticket office was closed and you would not go inside, but sorry, the children are free. What we were told , I don 't need to put pressure on pity . She was rude to us , everything was recorded on camera . When asked to give a complaint book , they were refused . I urge the zoo administration to take measures against this employee. The print remained disgusting . We drove through the whole city with the children . The website says one schedule, in fact another. Word of mouth is spreading fast, and I will already try to make it as widespread as possible!!!
Vitebsk Zoo is very famous for its parking lot. I don't like to look at animals kept in pens. But parking is free here. And this is the center of the city. So use it until there are changes.
The zoo is located in the center of the northern capital of Belarus, although small, but interesting. The inscriptions on the enclosures were especially funny. What kind of inscriptions will I not write, go (go), you will smile, I guarantee.
.
I would like to draw attention to the fact that the aviary with rabbits stands on an asphalt surface and the animals do not have grass and branches at all . And this is their main diet in addition to hay, since these animals have a need for grinding Teeth that grow throughout their lives. I ask the zoo staff to pay attention to this and move the aviary to the green zone, as well as adjust the nutrition of these animals.
Interesting animals for such a compact space. A very nice cozy zoo, but you definitely need to find more sponsors and improve the territory or even move out of town to large areas.
We tried to get in for 2 days, on the first day it turned out to be a day off (Tuesday), we looked at the schedule near the entrance and it was written Wed-Sun until 19:00, for the sake of the children we arrived the next day at 17:40, the schedule was completely different and it turns out the zoo was already closed and open until 18:00. We came from another city and it's a shame that they change the schedule as they want and when they want. The animals were never shown to the children, thank you! We could have left some information that a schedule change is possible after the weekend!
It's just a nightmare. Animal welfare conditions are beyond good and evil. Two swans in a 2*2 dug hole with a tarpaulin splashing in dirty water.. Nutrias bathe in an iron bath, where the water has also never been changed.. The fox is skinny, dirty, rushing around in a small cage, just running in circles, and it looks creepy. It was a pity to look at the stork - dirty and sad, he did not raise his head. The wolf looked out for a couple of seconds, and looked like a mangy dog that had not been fed for a long time.
There is dirt everywhere, and the animals do not have water or food. It is not cleaned in the pens.
After visiting the zoo, there was a depressing impression, it is unclear where the positive feedback came from. I am very sorry for the animals.
We were at the zoo with teenage children. Everyone had only pleasant impressions.. There was a slight perplexity for some specimens of birds why they were kept there, but in general I really liked it.I was especially impressed by the jaguar, it's just beautiful.
When we looked at the zoo area, we thought that there would be fewer animals, so we were pleasantly surprised. Of course, the main king is the bison. I admit: they didn't care about the prohibition to touch him, because, according to my feelings, the bison itself was just reaching out to people, wanted attention.
Admission costs less than 5 Belarusian rubles (150 Russian). Convenient location in the city center.
The only wish is to update the asphalt on the tracks.
It's pretty cool, of course, it's not really a zoo, it's a small, rather lively area. The coolest thing is that animals are accessible and do not hide, for example, you can look at a fox at arm's length or stroke a bison's forehead. The animals don't look tortured. One of the disadvantages is that tickets are only for cash, cards are not accepted.
Terrible impressions from the visit. Poor, emaciated animals in disgusting conditions. Animals swim in such dirty water that it's a pity to look at it. Drinking bowls in cages of small rodents with mold and green water. All possible conditions of keeping absolutely all animals of this zoo have been violated. It would be better to distribute the unfortunate animals to other zoos, where they would be cared for and this shame would be closed. Torment for animals who end their little lives in this terrible place. Shame.
It is better to come to the opening. Because they feed the animals and they are more active. The entrance is not expensive. You can walk with a small child often. I would like a carousel for children.
Poor animals. There are various animals on a very small territory!!! Although they are being cared for, THERE is very little room for them! And the bison had to stand on one patch after the rain, and there was no grass at all! Where should he graze? We urgently need to move the zoo to a wider area!!!
We arrived at the zoo at 18:35, we were not allowed to enter, the employee said "The zoo is open until 19:00, the ticket office closes at 18:30." It's not pleasant. In summer, it would be possible to make working hours longer, especially Saturday is a day off😟
November.Rains.The bison enclosure is covered in mud, several wolves are in a small enclosure completely in a dirty puddle, where there is no place even to sit.Terrarium building
It's also miserable. The fox is rushing around in a small cage, although there are empty enclosures. It is not clear why the city authorities will not deal with the issue of arranging the zoo.
A small but very cozy zoo in the city center. The animals are well-groomed enough, they look even better than in Minsk. Of course, there is a lack of funding, but I think everything is fixable. The employees are the nicest people, especially the woman at the checkout.
We were in August 2023, after the hurricane on August 7. This is a wonderful place! I fell in love with the Vitebsk Zoo. You can stay there forever! Small, but very interesting!!! There are lynx, wolves, camels, kangaroos, monkeys, fish, birds, snakes, bison, chanterelles and many other exotic animals! The animals are well-groomed, well-fed, clean!!! Storks, turkeys, and cockerels walk without fencing. The monkeys are very close. You can't feed them!!! The fee is symbolic-3.5 bel. rubles. I think that you can increase it to 5 rubles!!! Thank you, the zoo staff, for such a wonderful place!!!
I do not know who finances the zoo, but there are clearly not enough funds. It is necessary to increase the cages and aviaries, due to the space for visitors. Of course, this will not be enough for pets, but it is still better than now. And the children, of course, liked it.
It's a terrible sight, the city doesn't help, they live on self-sufficiency. The only one who liked it was the bison! We were at the zoo in Yaroslavl, there were bison there too, but compared to this, they were just kittens
A very sad zoo. The children are probably interested. And adults only have a disorder. It's a pity for the animals, it's very cramped, a real prison. But I would like to note that the staff in these conditions try to keep the zoo clean and tidy.
Everything is so tired and in need of reconstruction... it's a pity to watch. If you come in the evening, it may seem that this is the scenery of a horror movie. Soviet women, Soviet service, everything from that time there. As if they were left in a vacuum
We went to this zoo with our family during the New Year holidays. Reading other reviews, the expectations were contradictory. But in fact, everything turned out to be fine. The employee of the ticket office immediately told what and where to watch, at the exit she wished to come in the summer to see the bears. Yes, the zoo is not rich in equipment, but the main thing is its inhabitants. There is a very good range of fauna for such a small zoo. We, the adults, admired the bison, and the child could not part with the Evil Trionix, which looked at each guest))) Perhaps this zoo is not the object of a purposeful visit, but if you are walking around Vitebsk with children, then you should definitely come in.
Some of the animals were not in the enclosures . When they brought the cubs and gave the hockey club a cuddle, people had a desire to touch these guys too. Groups were organized where you could watch the baby bear. Yes, most of the groups were already formed far ahead. Yes, well done for the organization. But I want to mention the girl who answers the phone. Very incorrect and rude. All the desire to go to the zoo is being discouraged. It requires a lot of tact and communication skills.
The question is also not clear with the help. On Instagram, they post on the page that help is needed, but when they call, they rudely answer that nothing is needed! Impressions of the zoo are 9/10, the attitude of the staff towards people is 2/10.
We visited the zoo during a vacation in the Republic of Belarus. Every time we visit Belarus, we are surprised at how carefully forestry management is organized and a visit to the zoo in Vitebsk upset us very much.
During a visit to the zoo, after entering the zoo, we were met by a stork.
Since we were previously at the Munich Zoo, where flocks of flamingos walk in the pavilion and meet visitors.
We decided that this is normal for the Vitebsk zoo, but it's hard to understand that the bird's wings are clipped, or it's such a training.
Then we saw that the bird was trying to scare smaller creatures, children - zoo visitors.
Then a couple more storks appeared, dirty and emaciated.
And first one appeared, then several zoo guards, who first began to chase the birds with their hands,
and then appeared with a net and began to catch the bird.
There was only one stork left, probably dirty and exhausted managed to be driven by fright.
The bird was caught as best they could and carried inside the premises, the storks were not presented to visitors.
During a visit to the zoo, the howl or roar of an animal that is apparently sick or punished was periodically heard, we did not see who it was, either a bear or a tiger, the roar of a terribly unhappy creature.
Cages with animals, not to mention dirt and an obvious lack of love and care, are arranged so that somewhere the animals are clearly freezing, pressed into each other, dirt and flies.
The cage with the beaver is made so that it is open to the eyes from all sides, which creates obvious stress and discomfort to the animal, which is cramped and lying in an earthen pit.
Sick wolf, rotten meat in cages, which animals are clearly not interested in.
The big Eagle bird is under stress, no one is obviously putting things in order in the cage there is weed and dirt, the cage itself is clearly insufficient for the size of a large bird.
Probably all they saw was this temporary phenomenon, the zoo director got sick or there was a restructuring, the zoo was deprived of the budget, and this is clearly just a disaster for the zoo's inhabitants.
We will try to contact the city administration and environmental organizations of the republic in the near future to change the situation.
Animals cannot change their position in any way, if someone can help, please help and go see what is happening next to you.
We will be glad if the situation changes and the storks will again be available, healthy and beautiful for general viewing and the joy of zoo visitors.
A normal zoo. It's not super clean inside. But the territory is well-groomed, the animals walk straight along the paths (swans, roosters) . Of course, the children are delighted, they did not leave the goats. We took a lot of interesting photos. A very well-fed jaguar, it was already shining. Since the animals molt in the summer, in my opinion, the animals are being watched.
They did not get to the zoo because of the cashier, did not help to sort out the purchase of tickets, answered questions in the style of "why are you asking, do I really need this?", very rude and impolite, unfortunately, there is nothing to say about the zoo (((
The price tag is nice, there are a lot of animals, only the woman who sells tickets from the staff smells very strongly, it feels like they don't clean up after the animals at all... And so solid 4
It's a good zoo. Nice entrance price, clean enough. The animals are well-groomed, there are interesting representatives. One disadvantage is not a big one. And we got there during the restoration - there were no bears or lions.
In any case, the zoo is better than in St. Petersburg
Horror... Poor animals. Dirt, stench and sheer hopelessness. Cashless payment of tickets did not work, the cashier is an extremely unfriendly person. We were very disappointed, the children cried looking at the poor animals!
A terrible place ((( my soul was poured out with blood while I was in this zoo (the animals are in terrible condition (thin, mangy, like sick (barely moving(the camel that lay and could not get up(it was very sorry for these animals (very bad attitude towards them there. These animals need care and good nutrition and a veterinarian is desirable to examine(
The only animal that looked good was a lioness.
There is not enough space, there is not enough territory, but there is a lion, a jaguar, a camel, a bison, very funny and funny raccoons, you definitely need to go with children
I liked everything. It may not be well maintained. The territory is very small, there is no special smell of animals, only in the llama pen (this has already been written about). I didn't notice that the animals were not well-groomed. Cool nutria, monkeys, bison.
