It's a nice place. It is located 5 minutes from St. Sophia Cathedral (very beautiful, but it looks more impressive from the opposite shore) and the suspension bridge (the bridge disappointed us). The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable. It seemed a little cramped, but maybe we just got to lunch time and there were a lot of people.
The service is fast, but the pizza was cooked for a very long time and when we brought it, we didn't really want it.

I recently visited the Upper Castle cafe and was absolutely delighted. Incredibly delicious pork steaks are served here, which are cooked to perfect tenderness and juiciness. It is also worth noting the grilled mozzarella cheese — it simply melts in your mouth and perfectly complements any dish. Special attention is drawn to the draniki, which are not made from semi-finished products here, but are prepared on site, which gives them an incredible taste and texture. The atmosphere in the cafe is very cozy, and the service is top-notch. The Upper Castle is a great place for lovers of good food!

In general, I liked the cafe, the dishes of national cuisine, the interior was very good, the cafe was small but cozy, the draniki were very tasty, the cons were that the dishes in the steamer and pots were too greasy, everything was floating in oil and the girl at the checkout was constantly talking on the phone, she forgot about the bread, I had to remind her.

This place is about inspiration and a reminder of origins and identity. Now let me explain what I mean. Polotsk already has its own atmosphere in the area of the old buildings and St. Sophia Cathedral. But there were also stars with a dinner with such authentic cuisine, which I always look for when traveling... I have rarely seen dumplings in different types on the menu! Many dishes are served in pots, with fervor from the heat. Borscht was more like cabbage soup, but it doesn't matter!) How satisfying and at the same time simple it was, just like cooking from the stove in the village as a child! The interior is wood-brushed, it seemed to me that this was what the church in Polotsk looked like during its heyday, and the kitchen was the same, perhaps ...
The wait for dishes was not long, the prices were very affordable! We will definitely stop by again!
And yes, upon arrival home, there was a desire to cook more of our traditional dishes, I was so inspired...

The best restaurant in Polotsk! Belarusian cuisine. Simple and tasteful. Clear. They serve it quickly.
We visited it a few years ago, and now we managed to visit this institution again after a tour of the PSU cadet corps. And this time it left a great impression. We were a group of 10 people. The service was very fast. Everyone really liked it. I recommend.

Have you ever eaten a burger made from draniki? An incomparable burger with an excellent beef patty. Thank you very much to the cook! I also recommend trying a plyatsek - it's like a cheburek made from a dranik! And a sprinkling of bread soup. Perhaps there are enough unusual things)

We were here 2 years ago, I really liked it. And now we're here. The order arrived quickly, but the burger was obviously warmed up, as both the sauce and the leaves were warm. I had to ask for the cutlery myself, although they are brought first. The Coke arrived in a bottle, and I had to ask for a glass again. Draniki are normal. But my husband didn't like the sausage pan at all, it was greasy, the sausages were all fat. The cherry on the cake is a local drunk who molested a child. He didn't leave until his husband told him about it correctly.

My daughter's class was going to Polotsk on an excursion.The homeroom teacher, in order to motivate the children, said that they had never been to Polotsk and, most likely, would never visit. There is no connection between this restaurant and the Belarusian cuisine!!!!The first thing we don't understand is who is writing these laudatory reviews? Be led solely by the reviews. Driving by, we decided to stop by this institution. It was raining, we were offered to sit outside under a canopy, somehow we agreed to wait for an empty table inside. The seats were vacated quickly and we sat down. We made an order, it's very strange what's on the menu, there wasn't much available, even dumplings... which they have a whole story about. The order was completely mixed up, some of it wasn't even punched. We waited for the washcloth for about an hour, and when we asked if it would be soon, it turned out that no one was even going to cook it. As for the food: the pancakes are greasy, thin, pork with a smell and hard. There's a little dranika in the pot, half a pot of fat, and a couple pieces of tough pork on top. Everything is very unpalatable and greasy (we are well aware that Belarusian food is greasy, but not when the draniki are not visible behind the fat)
There is no service.
If you really want to try Belarusian cuisine and not be disappointed for the first time, then I strongly advise against this establishment.

Great cafe!!! What immediately caught my eye is that the portions are large and the price is small. Cozy atmosphere, clean, music is playing, the toilet is clean, the tables are always cleaned, there are no crumbs or cobwebs anywhere.
In terms of food, everything is always delicious, hot serving, pretty fast. The waiters are always there.
In general, it's always nice to spend time there.

An atmospheric place. No particular complaints, but there is something here. Heavy antique wooden furniture, dark brown color - also antique.
The cuisine is good, there are national dishes. I especially remember a pancake the size of a frying pan and stuffed with meat. Yummy! Drinking calvados is also fun.
Prices are more than reasonable, especially against the background of Russian ones.
It wouldn't hurt to cheer up the staff, but on the whole it's passable.
I recommend.

The laudatory reviews are not clear! The kitchen was not impressed at all!!! When the place is half empty, the waiters manage to carry the dishes (DRANIKI!!!) for 40 minutes each. And the draniki themselves were a complete disappointment (they taste incomprehensible, resemble potato flakes, with a lot of flour). I don't know what a watering soup should look like, but we had some kind of empty broth, sparsely sprinkled with dill. Another disappointment of the krambambul is that it's kind of watery here, without taste at all (we tried it later in Minsk, I liked the taste there) It seems that the reviews are really customized🤦♂️

Delicious and original dishes based on traditional Belarusian cuisine. It feels like fresh and high-quality products are being used. At the same time, the cost is so humane that at first we thought it was an error in the invoice. After the remark, the dish was replaced, I had to wait 15 minutes. But the most interesting thing was at the end. They asked to calculate it in two checks, one check was normal, but the second one was very unusual...there was no beginning of the receipt, its number, just a white field, followed immediately by the name of the dishes. All the dishes with prices were punched correctly, but the total amount turned out to be more than the real one by exactly the cost of the mixed dish, which was not in the receipt, and we did not eat it. When asked why the total amount does not match the real one, no one could answer us, they said that the cash register struck correctly, but the "hyper" did not count correctly for some reason. Does the cafe management know that they have some kind of "hyper" who adds invisible amounts to the total amount of the check? This is a question not only for the management, but also for the inspection bodies. In short, check all the checks at once, they cheat without even blushing, writing off their own shoals to the client.

Last night's visit to the Upper Castle cafe left a very unpleasant impression. When my family and I went there, half of the tables were empty. There weren't many visitors. We wanted to order pizza first, but the waitress said that we would have to wait for her for more than an hour! Of course, this did not suit us and we had to choose other dishes. There were 5 of us. We ordered 1 serving of pancakes with meat, 2 servings of beef medallions with grilled vegetables and 2 pans with potatoes and sausages. The wait lasted about 40 minutes. And then the most interesting thing began! Finally, they brought ONE plate with medallions (3 pieces of beef) and a portion of pancakes. That is, two people are eating, and three are sitting at an empty table at this time! It lasted about 15 minutes! Then, finally, they brought ONE frying pan (ALTHOUGH THERE SHOULD BE TWO) But, unfortunately, instead of the declared sausages, it simply featured sliced chicken ham. The waitress couldn't explain why... I had to give up this dish. But the most interesting thing happened next! To our question, where is the second portion of medallions with vegetables, the waitress declares that we were served two portions in ONE plate! How were we supposed to understand this and how to eat such a dish?!!
