An amazing place!!! I really love such sights, very beautiful views! It is interesting to go through all the paths hollowed out in the rock! There is also a temple in the rock, girls, do not forget to take scarves if you want to visit! There is a wonderful cafe near the river below, you can eat and drink delicious wine to the sound of the river with beautiful views!
It's a very beautiful place. It's nice to walk around the fortress, the park, and introduce yourself to history. There is a cafe, a hotel and decent clean toilets on site. The whole area is very clean and green.
I have been here twice with a difference of 8 years. First as a guest, and then as a "guide".
Having visited many places and not only in Georgia, all that can be said about it is that it is honest and natural.
It often happens that such places lose their value as they become places of mass tourism and income generation.
Authenticity is being lost in this wave, as tourist amenities come first. The infrastructure around it and the new-made attributes are overshadowing it itself.
Vardzia is a rare exception.
I definitely recommend you to visit. Five stars out of five.
There are few hotels nearby. The average price per night is 120 GEL. Dinner was prepared from local products. The portions are not large and expensive. It's the tastiest trout I've ever tasted! Vardzia is a must-visit, as well as hot springs within a 5-minute drive. The hot springs are a barn on the river bank. Colorful . The water is amazing, it doesn't smell like sulfur.
A very beautiful fortress. Everything is clean and well maintained. I am glad that you can climb even the highest tower, look through any door. You can spend the whole day, there are many cafes on the territory.
Everything is fine, but not everywhere there are handrails. This is not suitable for people with children and with a fear of heights.the steps are generally inclined somewhere that at a height you had to hold on to the handrail with both hands.there are unfenced exits without handrails and there is either a staircase with a cliff or a passage into tunnels .a very strange security organization (why can't handrails be made everywhere?some returned. 15 lari entrance for adults , up to 6 years old discount. +. 2 lari lift by minibus.parking is 3 GEL , typically by the hour (1 hour -1 GEL).there are toilets, cafes, tents.but the best thing was the restaurant on the opposite bank of the river, 4 people for 85 GEL, it was very tasty and with a view of the city.
Definitely worth a visit. We really liked it. Admission is GEL 15 per adult. There are a lot of moves. You need to book 2 hours for a visit. A very picturesque road to the mountain caves. On the way you will meet a suspension bridge over the river. I recommend not to skip, but to walk along it, look at the views.
It was in the spring on a sunny weekday. There are few visitors, parking is free and free! Tickets are 30 lari and for 4 more, the two of us were lifted up on a large new minibus. The routes are thoroughly equipped. I was afraid it would be expensive and wild, but it turned out to be the opposite. When you walk through the burrows, replenish your strength down in the cafe, right by the stream of stormy Chickens. But the most striking impression is the incredibly delicious air in the valley. I don't want to exhale. I understand those who dug caves there.
It's a very interesting place. It is better to come on your own to see the whole city (if you like such objects), you can take a tour on the spot. The road to the city is normal, you can drive a car. There are buses (2lari) to the city itself, but you can also walk.
A wonderful place from any point of view. At least from the historical, at least from the ethnographic, at least from the artistic.
Also, the village is not spoiled by tourists, and in this regard, it still retains a significant local flavor and authenticity.
I recommend visiting the time immediately after the opening, until the columns of tourist buses arrive.
If possible, pay for the services of a guide, the visit will become much more intense.
I recommend you to visit.
A very interesting place! Mountains, mountains!!Extraordinary beauty, amazing caves, extreme to some extent). Since it was scary for me personally to go down, I'm afraid of heights. But you don't have to look there). Inside, walk through the tunnel, feel the atmosphere of the monastery, join the history! I'm impressed!
The tour is very difficult, but very interesting.
For 13 hours, our international (Belgian, English, Ukrainian and 7 people from Russia) group traveled along mountain roads, walked in Borjomi-Kharagulsky Park, climbed the Vardzia mountain cave complex, and this is almost an 8-storey fortress with complex tunnels, then attacked the Rabat fortress. Tired and satisfied, returning to Tbilisi, we listened to Georgian songs performed by our guide Beso))
I recommend it to outdoor enthusiasts.
Be sure to pay GEL 2 for the route that will take you to the complex on the mountain. Not far, but clearly uphill.
It's very interesting!
Parking is paid
There is a restaurant with delicious fish nearby
This active monastery will not leave you indifferent, it is a very atmospheric place with a deep history. I've been there twice and I want to come back to see the convent, which is very close. There is a cafe, parking, toilet, souvenirs under the mountain. I recommend a cafe in front of the bridge by the river with a view of the monastery.
It's a great place. It's true that we were without an excursion, but it's also interesting. You do not need to take a minibus to the place, since it is very close to go from the parking lot. I recommend it!
I think that every tourist should visit Vardzia. This place is very impressive, amazing, surprising. You ask yourself questions that you don't have answers to. And what beautiful views open from the height! To walk through all the corners of Vardzia, you need to have a decent amount of time and stamina.
Since I am from Javakhk, I rejoice at every stone, I think that I will not have the most correct opinion, because it is biased. I like mountains, mountain rivers, I recommend visiting.
It is very beautiful, although in places it is difficult to pass if you are not prepared for narrow vertical stairs. But it's worth it, the view from the outside and from the inside is amazing.
It is absolutely necessary for everyone to visit! Check at the ticket office for shuttle bus tickets (it will take you to the hill from the ticket offices to the beginning of the city), but you can also walk up.
An indescribable feeling! But there is one thing, you need to walk there in sports shoes, and not have excess weight. A stout person simply will not fit into passages with steep stairs.
A very interesting place, I recommend to visit, but only for people with a healthy musculoskeletal system (there are many descents and ascents of stairs to be overcome). Although we had a group of elderly Americans with us, they staggered on the steps, but stubbornly climbed up

One star only because of the steps and for more people to read the review!
1) There are a lot of steps! Especially at the end of the road.
2) There are handrails not everywhere.
3) Some steps are cramped and because of which you can slip.
4) In places, you have to move down the steps (and not only).
And at the end of the way, you collect combos: you walk bent over the cramped steps without handrails and the only thing you will grab when falling is a 220V wire. And we also got caught in the rain.
Excursion: we took a guided tour in Russian.
Verdict: if everything is OK with your knees, you will most likely like it. The views are beautiful.
I have just read about Vardzia in the largest reference directory about Georgia, Madloba.info . This place looks incredible! I have always dreamed of visiting this ancient monastery, and now I am even more inspired to go there. Descriptions of its unique architecture and rich history are truly admirable. I hope to realize my dream soon and walk along its walls to enjoy the unique atmosphere of Vardzia.
A very unusual place, very beautiful views open up, there are passages inside caves, a church, very interesting and fascinating. I recommend you to visit, you will discover a completely different world
The coolest tour that has impressed in recent times, these are incredible structures, we have been here for a long time, as if we had been in the past, I recommend it.
It's a sooo beautiful place. There are many places where you can get water. Take a bottle with you. Parking at the entrance to the shade and beyond is large, also free. He himself pays 15 lari. You will rise from the left and go down to the bottom of the mountain on the right, then return along the path. Staff, nice people.
Great. Before entering, we drove a lift for three people with entrance tickets and a lift of 52 GEL. Everything is interesting: the church, the secret passage. Then we had lunch in a cafe across the river overlooking Vardzia
We recommend visiting the historical place, straight from the 13th century, with an excursion, in order to understand where you can climb, what to see and what secret passage to get into, go far from Tbilisi, but it's worth it!
Unusual , a must - visit . For natural reasons .... there are few new models, it is clear that the ladders of the track are modern. But it 's impressive . The visit time is 3+ hours. The quadcopter is neat ....
If you are going to Georgia, then you must visit Vardzia. An ancient city in the mountains, Rabat fortress. Beautiful views, lots of impressions. Friendly people. We really liked it.
A fantastic place, a must see. It is impossible to convey in words! There is a water source inside, but it is important to take water with you, it is difficult to go uphill. It takes at least 2 hours to get around everything. If you are very afraid of heights / you have claustrophobia - it is better not to take risks. It is better to take an audio guide or a guide, you will learn a lot of interesting things. There is a cafe and a toilet downstairs. Admission is GEL 15 for adults, children up to 6 are free.
Beautiful, original! Downstairs there is a cafe, souvenirs, restrooms. A small section of the steep ascent to the beginning of the exposition is kindly offered to be overcome by car for some lar
The place is amazing!
It's a cool place! I recommend a full examination. We were with children from 15 to 3 years old. There are some pretty weird places. If you are afraid of heights or have claustrophobia, warn the guide about it and move with caution.
There are drinking fountains on the top.
I highly do not recommend the restaurant downstairs. Nice view on the veranda above the river BUT! Disgusting kitchen. This is the worst restaurant in Georgia in 15 years of visiting this country. It's ugly and not tasty + you will RECEIVE a 25% tip.
It's just an incredible place, very beautiful views, history seems to be soaked into the ancient walls of caves ... the feeling cannot be conveyed in words and photos
An unusual historical place, the views from the height are gorgeous and the building itself surprised with its scale. What kind of work was done to create such a cave city.
When you drive along the road to Vardzia, you cannot pass this fortress in passing, it can be seen from afar. The place is very beautiful, the safety is decent. Entrance for inspection is 10 lari, a ticket is issued. One drawback is that you don't learn much without a guide, and there are no banners with a description and historical information of the object in Russian, although most tourists are Russian-speaking.
