This is one of the largest busts of Lenin not only in Tajikistan, but also abroad.
Lenin in Istaravshan is depicted with his arm outstretched: the length of his arm is three meters, the finger on his hand is one meter.
Istaravshan is a wonderful city in Tajikistan, and one of the wonders that await travelers here is a unique monument to Vladimir Lenin — you will not find such in the whole republic anymore. It was built in the mid-1960s, it is the work of a Lithuanian sculptor who lived in Khujand at that time. The monument to Lenin was opened in honor of the launch of the Kattasoy reservoir in 1965. By the way, this reservoir is still one of the main sources of fresh water in the area.
To get to the monument, you need to climb a long staircase. The residents of Istaravshan do not really know how many steps there are: someone says 410, someone - 420, we counted 365 steps. This number is probably symbolic, meaning 365 days a year.
If you draw a line in the direction where the leader's left hand points, then exactly after 2900 km it will go straight to Lenin's mausoleum on Red Square in Moscow.
