I chose this hotel based on the tour operator's offer and positive reviews on the Internet.
Already on the spot, I realized that, to put it mildly, they are not entirely accurate.
This hotel has two names "Club Pyla Beach Resort" and "TSIALIS HOTEL APARTMENTS". See photo.
There is information on the Internet that:
"Club Pyla Beach Resort" 4*
"TSIALIS HOTEL APARTMENTS" 3*.
In fact, this hotel does not have a single star, as confirmed by the hotel staff. It does not even belong to Class A hotels (it is a Class B hotel).
First of all, it should be understood that the hotel consists of 2 buildings. As I understand it, tourists posted in the second building write positive reviews.
In general, the hotel needs renovation. Both outside and inside, replacing old furniture.
The air conditioning system in the first building is shared. Air conditioning is turned on from 18:00 to 23:00. And this is despite the fact that in July the daytime temperature in the shade is about +35 ° C. This is just a mockery of tourists. In addition, the air conditioner makes a lot of noise and prevents you from sleeping.
Being on the beach in this heat is very problematic. We usually went to the beach before 10:00-11:00 and after 17:00.
On the very first day, it turned out that the gas stove was not working and was all stained. However, it was repaired on the same day. In the kitchen, old scratched tefal pans, spoons, forks are old, worn out, like in a public dining room. The dishes are old and worn out. There were also cockroaches.
The plumbing is old, the mirrors in the bathroom are not wiped, everything is stained.
When they opened the wardrobe in the bedroom, the stench was such that they had to open the windows and ventilate the room for half a day.
Two interior doors would not close (the latches were broken).
Two lamps on the landing in front of the room and one in the room did not work.
Rooms are poorly cleaned, garbage is not thrown away, the floor is not swept.
The hotel's swimming pool is located right next to the highway and is separated from it by a human-sized fence. I do not understand those tourists who, having arrived in another country, instead of swimming in a clean and warm sea, prefer to breathe exhaust fumes in a pool near the highway.
There are two paved roads in front of the hotel and a highway closer to the sea. There is an unpaved parking lot between them, which is overlooked by the windows of the room. When a strong wind blows, dust from the parking lot flies directly onto the balcony and into the room. See photo.
The rooms for two people have no balcony, but the Windows overlook the garden, not the parking lot.
The work of the reception leaves much to be desired. There is information on the Internet that the reception is open around the clock. Repeatedly, at different times of the day, I came across the fact that there is no one at the reception (despite the fact that some tourists leave their luggage there, there are also safe deposit boxes in which tourists store money, valuables and documents because there is no safe in the room). The night porter sleeps on the sofa in the next room with the doors to the street open. See photo.
Somewhere on the 3rd day of our stay at the reception, we lost our room key and were given a duplicate.
The absolute advantage of the hotel is the lack of animation and discos. You can go to bed early.
The hotel took an excursion "TRODOS – KYKKOS MONASTERY" (70 € per person). When boarding the bus, our nerves were pretty frayed. It turned out that we were not on the passenger list, although the tour was paid for a week. The duration is about 10 hours.
The monastery is beautiful. But in general, the overall impression of the tour is not very good. Russian Russian was spoken by the guide with a very strong accent, sometimes it seemed that he was having difficulty choosing Russian words to express a thought. It was very annoying.
During the tour, the guide said that the criminal situation in Cyprus is getting worse every year. In particular, there is the problem of theft.
About ecology. A few kilometers from the hotel on the seashore there is an industrial enterprise, 5 pipes of which are smoked around the clock. See photo.
If you are going to cook in the apartment, then it makes sense to buy food at the Karfur supermarket in Larnaca. From the hotel it takes 15 minutes by bus (2 € round trip) or by taxi (20 € round trip).
If you are going to eat at local catering establishments, I recommend the Mamas snack bar. About 150 m from the hotel along the highway, opposite the Golden Bay 5* hotel. Unlike the rest of the nearest similar establishments, which are empty in the evenings, Mamas always has a lot of visitors, 70-80% of the tables are occupied in the evenings, respectively, the products are always fresh. The majority of visitors are Western Europeans, there is a menu in Russian and a Russian-speaking waitress. You can have a normal lunch for 10-15 €.
Opposite the hotel on the first line is the hotel "Lordos 4*" with a very well-maintained territory. On the beach of this hotel there is paragliding (parachuting behind a motor boat), water skiing, canoeing, catamaran, windsurfing, riding a "tablet" – a round inflatable shell, similar to a children's inflatable pool with side handles.
Personally, I preferred a jet ski (30 € for 15 minutes). It is better to ride at 8-9 o'clock in the morning, when the sea is calm, you can drive at high speed.
If we compare it with the city of Larnaca, then the area "Pyla" in which the hotel is located is certainly better.
Larnaca is a dirty little town, lots of cars, lots of people. I have not seen such dirty sidewalks anywhere, although it is not the first time abroad. I didn't like the beach in Larnaca – some kind of packed sand.
There are few people and cars in the "Pyla" area, it is much quieter. The beach is small pebbles. In the sea, the bottom is sandy, the depth increases gradually. At a distance of 30-50 m from the shore, the depth is knee-deep (waist-deep).
Would I go to this hotel again?
Definitely not.
The apartments are comfortable, well-filled, spacious, with a good location relative to the sea, cafes and minimarkets.the location itself is quite calm and not noisy. We lived on the ground floor and got a huge number of micro-ants, we even had to hide a pack of pasta in the refrigerator, monsters even crawled into bed and blisters on the skin were provided. The cleaners struggled with them as best they could, took away the garbage and did the cleaning every day, even left us special sprinklers, but it did not help for long. Otherwise, I liked everything. And a beautiful garden area and a swimming pool. I recommend it!!!
We recently returned from there. I liked everything: clean and cozy apartments with all necessary appliances, a large bathroom, powerful air conditioners, responsible staff. The location of the apartments is optimal: close to the beach (5-7 minutes walk) and far from the city. There are only cottages and hotels around. The infrastructure is also pleased with the numerous shops and restaurants. At the same time, you can get to other interesting places by a comfortable shuttle bus, the fare is inexpensive.
